Mark 1 FO as SO for real world room and view
Mark 3 TFO for high speed travel - want Paxmans
Steam service, I like the Collett Sunshine stock and also Gresley Teak stock

Currently doing an Airfix Nimrod but modelling priority is my DMU revamps.
However want a Grumman Goose model
-
. Who, in 1975 or 76 would have expected people to be getting nostalgic for the HSTs, it was bad enough replacing the Valentas with MTUS!!
That will provoke similar reactions to all the previous changes, but it'll go ahead because most of the fare paying passengers don't give a rats*ss what kind of train they're on. So long as they get where they want, when they want it's OK.
We were happy with Vp185 as it was still Paxman
But to be honest I have now lost interest.
What did it recently for me was Modern Image NOT being BR blue era

SOme aircraft modelling

Interesting - When "Design" Magazine published a special on the planned new British Rail image back in 1963, special mention was given to the visual design of the D600 class as one on which some care had been taken. Pity that the loco's performance disappointed, though of course it was on a hiding to nothing being trialled against the D800 in the Western Region...
(Now, where's me tin helmet?)
I do like the D600s I will be getting a D601 one day, but not sure if to do early WR Diesel or pretend it escaped Barry
-
Not a very good picture, Paul. You can't see DP1 very well 'cos that green one gets in the way.
David
Oh yes the worlds best Diesel loco of the 1950s is hidden there
-
I wonder which one is doing all of the work?
BTW I know the 50s can pull well, seen one pull a Peak along woth brakes on, seen lots pull a 15 coach sleeper out of Plymouth
-
No idea where my set is (may be garage, sitting room or bed room), but mainly Airfix stil running Airfix wheels, all numbered off real ones I have seen so have the correct MCV or MXV brakes.
All in tatty bauxite and correct brake gear
-
I have a few
HST power car original livery - stills looks superb.
Hymek & Western very styled
50 not pretty but I love the look of them
Hall & Castle look "right" so does double chimney 9F in lined green, Peppercorn had styling sorted as well.
Lots of older locos were just elegant.
-
I have a Raveningham Hall in a wooden box, not a brilliant runner, front bogie comes off the track occasionally
-
I have a D8568 in green off Ebay, haven't ran it yet as DCC needs removing, but is it likely to be OK or faulty?
If faulty how easy to repair?
-
Late 70s seen 31/4s and used them.
Was on one train and due to rail works had to go by road coach.
I was going there for a few months and part of my luggage was a motorcycle.
I beat the coach to the next station! That was a 33 on the front.

I did a test this afternoon, not ironed it yet, but if you take a sheet of sticky labels, remove all the labels and the spare paper around the edges so you are just left with the backing paper, then print with a laser printer onto the same side that the labels were stuck to you seem to get a nice smooth black print onto the waxy layer. I guess this should transfer well to the metal. .....
Hmm laser printer at work and I will grab some backing sheets from a supplier
-
So which side of paper was used, and what printer - looks very interesting

Hi there,
If you want a brand new class 15, Kernow model shop has been trying to get rid of their last ones at £69.99 each! I think that's pretty good!
Cheers,
John E.
Hope it is D8233
My 29 and Warship ones just missed preservation
-
for me it was a time when my life changed gave up train spotting sold all my models . went out and got a motorbike . going to night club's . then got wed had kid's . started spotting and modeling again in the 1980's when the boy's got older. it was a time i missed out in.
I used mine to go spotting!!!!
Also it was Mod revial time to used to pick on scooters as well, for some reason non of the spotters liked scooters, quite a few liked bikes.

There is something about the early diesels that makes me want them.
Recently obtained a 17 (D8568), trying to get a cheap 15 (D8233), I really want a 16 even though it is not suitable, a 22 and 29 (would be D6122), and NBL Warship (D601).
And I model early 80s!!!!
-
Cut the coupling off, recess the other end of the bogie and fit about 5mm in. Alradite works.
I have now been using smaller couplings, similar in size to the old Mainline ones, but every Lima B4 I have has been modified

I remember it well, too many locos went at sectorisation.
You can run a lot in TOPS blue era, vacuum and air braked wagons, Mark 1s to HSTs, some pre nationalisation designed parcels stock. Lots of steam locos as well.
-
I have numbered all of my Parkside HTVs off pictures I took in the 80s, similar to my MCV MXV set of Airfix based minerals.
As to coaches, yes they are real sets I have seen
