  1. Just to update on my original post, I’ve had a replacement SR green one arrive which is perfect. The BR green one had to go back to Bachmann as the retailer had sold out. However, within a week I had it posted out to me, tested and running fine. Having checked it myself all seems perfect with this one too. I’ve no idea if the quick turnaround at Bachmann was because they had spare models to replace it with or whether it’s been mended. I’ve no idea if it’s been fixed or replaced! I’m happy it’s been sorted though. I’m not that practical and to my mind I shouldn’t have to be filing, bending or shimming something I’ve purchased new, especially at current prices.
  2. Plenty of SR green ones to be found but I’ve not found anywhere with BR green ones left in stock.
  3. Got my SR and BR green ones last Thursday. Sadly one had a bogie that was in pieces with bits of snapped plastic floating around in the box, while the other had a warped bogie with the innermost wheels not touching the rails. That second model had no response to power at all. Both returned the same day but as they’re sold out they’ve had to go back to Bachmann for repairs instead of simply being replaced. Very frustrating.
  4. Just for interest I thought I’d compare the model of 91111 For The Fallen as shown on the cover of Hornby’s 2022 catalogue and my own photos of the real thing. I hadn’t realised quite how many variations there were! Number 11 nearer or further from the centre. Yellow triangle. Plain black or plain yellow below the lights. Yellow triangle below the cab window or a more traditional rectangle: This is November 2016. Yellow strip instead of the triangle point. Taken in April 2015. The number 11 is nearer the middle. July 2018. I think this is what the Hornby model is supposed to be, though the one on the catalogue cover looks like the tip of the triangle is too small. The number 11 is nearer the edge compared to the previous image. October 2021. The yellow triangle has been replaced by a rectangle. Quite a few opportunities to modify the model with all these differences!
  5. So by this standard, if Bachmann want to paint a Hall red, release it with a few maroon Mark 1s and say it’s “Inspired by Harry Potter”, they can expect Hornby to be fine with that?
  6. 43189 appears to have the wrong colour nameplate. It was a sort of greenish yellow when in that livery, as in a picture I took in August 2000.
  7. Someone likes prog metal music at Hornby. The two lowmacs refer to Canadian musician Devin Townsend and to Dutch musician Arjen Anthony Lucassen who created Ayreon - both legends of prog metal.
  8. Thanks for all the very helpful replies
  9. Hello. I'm trying to work out which of the newly announced Class 73s would have been the earliest to appear in real life. Would it have been "Class 73 BR Green Grey/Green Sole Bar - E6004" or would it have been "Class 73 BR Green NYP - E6002"? Cheers Jon
  10. Ever hopeful. There's the three P class tanks, the O1, two U class, the North London Tank, Captain Baxter, the Q class and 84030 plus maybe a decent new A1/A1X..........
