  1. Yesterday I started the next loco. This is the Gladiator Kit J25. OK so far.
  2. As you will see from the photo, there are four pegs and two short guide strips front and rear. I have made four cuts in each corner to accept the pegs. When the model is painted the roof could be glued in place to the cab sides. It is important to ensure the roof is curved exactly correct to sit snugly in place.
  3. Well, that's the N7/3 all done ready for the off. I do like Big Jim's kits although in this instance there was not much left for me to complete.
  4. You will notice I had the wrong manufacturer of the N7. It's a Connoisseur Models. 😳
  5. This one is a Connoisseur Models N7 which was part built. I was asked to complete the chassis & body. It's quite tarnished, so tomorrow will be a big cleanup session and then priming as usual. I have installed a heavy weight in the boiler so it will pull quite a load.
  6. Just before a break in Edinburgh for a few days while HM Queen lay in State I almost finished this carriage van. Just added the brakes today and got it primed. I also got this horse box finished before we went there too.
  7. Hi everyone. I have very sadly had to cancel my visit to Guildex. I have been laid up with covid. Just had a short spell on the PC this morning and feeling washed out. Hope you lucky ones that can go have a great time. Regards Ken
  8. Agree, I guess it's not worth the risk. Ken
  9. King Arthur finished. Just noticed the front step has been bent back in construction. That will be sorted tomorrow. Also tomorrow it will be test run on the layout through the cross overs ect
  10. Thanks John. Many years ago on my first venture into DCC all my locos had sound. I know the pitfalls of just having one loco with sound. So I will be doing that again. Especially as I have a sizable collection of locos and still growing. I have do go ahead with the DCC I will probably use Zimo. I did OK last time without the Smart Booster with a couple of locos simmering in the platform and one arriving. (I would have a similar situation on the current layout) Ken
  11. Thanks John. I am an O gauge man. All my locos draw less than 2 amp and never had any problems with the NCE powercab and TCS 1 chips before converting back to DC about 20 years ago. I'm now thinking I may convert back to DCC. I have been thinking of Zimo and TCS.
  12. Hi Ray. I've not really made my mind up as yet. I'm kind of open to purchasing used ones on ebay as I have 48 locos to convert.
  13. Will a NCE starter set work with any make of decoder. I'm considering switching to DCC control.
  14. That makes sense, the tender and loco did appear to be a bit different in the construction.
  15. Back again after a very nice week in west Yorkshire. Riding the heritage railways, excellent cruise on the canal from Skipton, visiting two castles and exploring Holmfirth, home of Last of The Summer wine. All finished off with a tour of a vineyard and lots of wine tasting. Sober now and spent the last tackling the body on King Arthur (the loco I hasten to add) Here it is almost done.
  16. The N 15 chassis is now almost completed, just the castings to add to the front of the cylinders. (The rear drivers are cocked up in the air due to the springs fitted to the centre pair) I will be away from the WB for a few days. Itching now to start it's body.
  17. Now it's on with the loco chassis. All going well at the moment. I found the brake rodding and vac pump quite fiddly to do. Other than that easy going. I was pleased that the coupling rods need no reaming and tweaking to get a free running chassis.
  18. After another break, this time amongst other things full journey on the NYMR. Also anther heritage line and a river cruise on the Teeside Princess. Not counting the many other places we visited, all very enjoyable. Anyway, I'm now tackling the Gladiator kit for the Southern N15 King Arthur. Stating as usual with the tender. Easy to build too. Now starting the loco.
  19. The weathering a bit over done on the first photos I think.
  20. The past few days I've been building this Mercian Models Peckett. The 1833 motor and gear box (from Taff Vale Models) was a very tight fit. I would have been easier with a smaller unit despite what the instuctions say. Any all turned out OK in the end.
  21. It's been a bit of a slow build and rather difficult. Although to look at it one would wonder why. Even I cannot figure that out. There are still a couple of thigs to sort out, e.g. wiring it up to the pickups and motor. And a couple of things to add to the cab interior.
  22. At last some more work done on the LNWR Jubilee body. Quite a bit of fiddling around to get it at this stage. The smoke box was the worst to get it right.
  23. It's been a very hectic week and hardly anything done on the WB. Tomorrow, hopefully, a bit of activity on it and a photo posted.🤞
  24. Thats the chassis all done. All the clearances are very tight though, test running will be interesting.
