  1. Thats the chassis all done. All the clearances are very tight though, test running will be interesting.
  2. A bit more done for the chassis. Going OK so far.
  3. Aye, it is a 4-4-0. It was the famous computer error😜
  4. A start is now made on the loco chassis. I looks like I will need to do some chopping on the frames to allow the bogie to swing.
  5. That's the tender built. Finishing parts went OK.
  6. After a break in Suffolk which was very enjoyable, it's back to the WB. A couple of days spent making a start on the Taff Vale Models 2-4-0 LNWR Jubilee. A George Norton designed kit apparently. A bit tricky to get it all fitting together. Still a bit to do on it yet though.
  7. Hi John. I used a length of copper electric wire cut slightly short of the width of the sheet, bend it to shape of roof. The used a piece of tissue paper cut to correct width and rolled it around the wire and ran PVA glue aver it and let it dry. Then painted it with Humbrol 'dirty black' when dry tied black cotton around the sheet and roof sheet supports. Carefully super glue sheet to roof. Then using a very small amount of super glue attach the cotton to the sheet roof supports. (That last bit use the most fiddly part). I finished off by a bit of black paint on the cotton knots to really secure them.
  8. I've spent the past couple of weeks building this Eric Underwood kit for my Trenruth line. Being a bit 'old school in some areas' especially the chassis. The kit it was not an easy build, it seemed very fiddly compared to a similar loco from Scorpio's range. The cab weather sheet took some consideration how to make that, even though I say it myself, it looks convincing? Weathering is under way, the powders need to be finished as they are a bit heavy in places. Plus coal, crew and Dinghams to fit. I put a heavy weight inside the resin boiler. Powered by the Taff Vale Models 1833 and gear box. Runs very nice too.
  9. Pannier tanks never fail to please in my view. (I have a few on my own layout)👍
  10. The Jubilee is now ready to go. It has an ABC power unit and a heavy weight in the boiler. I'm now having a break from the WB for other projects, one is looking though my drawings with a view to scratch building that I have now done for quite a while. I see what I come up with🤔
  11. OK. Jubilee is ready for stripping down, cleaning and priming. That's for tomorow now.
  12. Managed a little bit more on the body. Just the cab to sort out, hopefully I can start that tomorrow.
  13. A little more done on the body. A fair bit if adjustments required to get it all squared off on the smokebox/boiler/firebox unit. Other than, that everything else went to plan.
  14. A bit more done today, after some work in the garden. (Not my favourite pastime I have to say.) Still going quite well, a lot of rivet punching before I could start assembly.
  15. Another session on the Jubilee chassis. This is as far as I can go prior to painting. no issues in the construction so far.
  16. We will be back again, no worries about that.👍
  17. Carrying on now with the chassis. Pleased it pushed along nicely with no binding with out having to ream out the coupling rod holes. The centre axle is sprung in my usual way. This is it so far.
  18. The Jubilee chassis is now underway. All square and perfectly aligned with the coupling rods. So easy when using Poppy's builder block. (Best thing I have purchased to aid chassis building)
  19. Had a fantastic time thanks. Did the round robin steam train (behind a 52xx GWR tank from Paignton) and the Dartmouth river cruise. The Golden Hind in Brixham. The Barbican historic area at Plymouth. Enjoyed the 'big wheel' in Torquay. Beautiful Totnes plus a really nice tour around the stunning country side. Also manage to get a very sore sunburnt head. Won't get caught like that again. All done with Jones coach holiday staying in a great hotel in Paignton. Plus we booked the front seats too. A perfect holiday with no worries. Looking forward to the next five holidays booked with them all front seats too. Happy days 🤗
  20. I started this Gladiator Jubilee tender prior to going on a break to Torbay. Returned Friday evening and just completed it. No problems with this kit, typical of Gladiator kits. I make the cross braces detachable buy springing them in place using narrow strips of etch to hold them in place. Cross braces sprung in place
