  1. Err I hate to be pedantic but Margaret Beaufort doesn't qualify as a queen, Elizabeth Woodville does because she was married to Edward IV but not Margaret Beaufort. She doesn't even qualify as Queen Mother, although Henry VII gave her that title, because she was never married to a King but I guess no one was about to call her Usurper's Mother were they. Not within earshot of Henry VII anyway. Regards Lez.
  2. So just a suggestion about the cottages. Why not put a small mirror next to them just wide enough so that you get the whole of the gable end in the reflection and then hide the outer edge of the mirror with a half relief tree instant full depth cottage. Regards Lez.
  3. Well that's all fine and dandy but what then happens if you want to remove them later? I would use thread locker or a touch of super glue at least you can break that by applying a bit of heat. Regards Lez.
  4. Have you tried Gibson's? For the wheels I mean. Regards Lez.
  5. I agree with you completely, it is the only place for a ketone bond however it is known as Butanone, 2-Butanone or Methylethylketone. It depends on where it is made and what the rules are in the country it's being labelled for that determines what it's called. Regards Lez.
  6. Yes that is the recognised symbol for benzene and you're right the bonds do flicker from side to side of the carbon atoms and it drives the electrons and the Hydrogen to race around the ring. I've seen a video of benzene rings through an electron microscope and it's all very busy and looks like it's all about to take off, in fact it looks almost like it's alive. Regards Lez.
  7. Yep you can always rely on the MK1 nose. It's the =O to the 2nd carbon atom that makes it smell like that it's correct name is 2 Butanone if it was only a single bond it would be C4H8OH instead of C4H8O and be called Butanol. Carbon has a valency of 4 and Oxygen 2 and they have to use all of their bonds or the molecule would become unstable. It's why Oxygen is O2 and water is H2O the O2 as a chemical formula would be O=O and H2O would be H-O-H. The equals sign representing a double bond and the minus sign a single bond. In organic chemistry molecules are held together by covalent bonds which means that the electrons in the outer shell of an atom are shared between between the atoms in the molecule. In something like Benzine C6H6 the Carbon atoms form a ring each having 1 double bond and 2 single bonds one to the next carbon atom and one to the hydrogen atom and the electrons whizz around the ring a bit like greyhound at a dog track. Err sorry I do like a bit of organic chemistry. Regards Lez.
  8. You would need quite a lot of it as It's 0.13-0.2mm thick. Regards Lez.
  9. Wheel balance weights are a much more cost effective method of adding lead to a model than the lead foil. That is good for lead flashing on buildings. Regards Lez.
  10. It seems that MekPac is not Butanone anymore but slaters don't tell you what it actually is on the bottle. I'll stick with Butanone if anyone asks me cos I know what's in it. Regards Lez.
  11. Strange, chemically Butanone and MEK are the same thing they are both C4H8O or CH3C(O)CH2CH3 to be exact and as far as I know Butanone as sold for modelling is slightly stronger than MEKPAC by around 4% so I would expect Butanone to have more of an effect on you than MEKPAC. I buy mine in 1litre bottles at 99% strength and dilute it down to 50% with water myself. Regards Lez.
  12. Nice Dave. I'm watching with interest mate. Regards Lez.
  13. Yeh I've had good results with that, I use blue king size ciggy papers as I find the red and green ones too thick. Regards Lez.
  14. One of my army mates was on that when it went down it being one of our favourite routes back home on leave or if we were going on a course at Lark Hill. Patch, he managed to drag 3 people out of the drink with him and covered himself in glory but then he was a phenomenal swimmer. He was also a very unassuming young chap and absolutely hated the attention he got afterwards. Regards Lez.
  15. I had a look though my wine collection last night and found that I had none with foil covered tops so I went a looking on the bay and found this. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/353359254843?itmmeta=01HQGGXB7T8JA5M1TC9M09DN5A&hash=item5245da553b:g:0r4AAOSwFwlgBt45&itmprp=enc%3AAQAIAAAA8OyQFVV%2FsLf%2B2D1d6YFRdrfazrIPrkE%2BLG1VFvweEsZhXdQuD6cewhOJh8Bb%2BKCVDPHnQwpDm2hZc4Kn5dEU9VDXKdnFwGYquVxvcO0WPMpRsljlMOOsayl%2BnORWq89K%2FYInFfikkXZLaLdGk0lEDkhhQGdvs8UHAfSsZU4c36GslYh1XTTVAoO47jf3Fvwv4DG9v48R62iI8DErNO8N6JQDpA7PH8OvnyyuvPmPflaJ%2BlknztUOsYkUqJRcLCjPbV8oWZscFcLjhHqh34lsPAo3WyYg1uh%2FSnEprWXH3FC45%2B0uMHFO61OC5a45i5etcQ%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR_qz9ZC8Yw It's very thin and is self adhesive, not sure if that will make it harder to use or easier to use but hey ho. Regards Lez.
  16. How are you going to do the lead flashing? I have used the lead foil from wine bottles but that only really comes on the dearer bottles now days and my wife doesn't drink, my second wife drunk wine like it was going out of fashion so I always had some lead foil to hand. These days I use cigarette paper if I can't lay my hands on the foil and paint it with Humbrol metalcoat polished steel mixed with gunmetal 53. Regards Lez.
  17. Well to be fair it is a very nice roof. Regards Lez.
  18. I remember the Torrey Canyon, the RAF hit it with Hawker Hunters. I must have been around 6 or so. Regards Lez.
  19. I have that as well but it doesn't list Bromsgrove at all. The LMS engine sheds Vol 2 is the same. It has allocations for 1945 but not 1920. Bromsgrove was 4a which was a sub shed of Worcester 4 so you need to find which of Worcester's allocation were subbed to Bromsgrove. Regards Lez.
  20. Well there sort of is. The Midland engine profile books each have a detailed section on the tenders used by each locomotive type and it's the same for the LMS profiles. The 8F and 4F ones are fairly detailed giving dates of modifications to the tenders. There are also tables in the Summerson books giving dates of changes to each locomotive and then there are the Essery and Jenkinson books giving details of when locos changed tenders. I will agree that there is no one stop guide but it's all out there if you're willing to do the research and a bit of research never hurt anyone. Regards Lez.
  21. Some things just need to be skipped I guess. Regards Lez.
  22. Where's the envy button when you need it? Regards Lez.
  23. Locos, especially steam locos, do not go through the goods shed. Goods sheds usually have a "no engines beyond this point" sign on the goods shed door. Regards Lez.
  24. Squires also have the Stevenson Carriages range. Regards Lez.
  25. There's a lot to be said for military modelling techniques there are a lot of very useful hacks to be had from military modellers. Regards Lez.
