  1. Some details of these 5 wagons now on Tower models news page, further update on their Dapol page expected in a day or so.
  2. It's in the open day video. As above plus some basic cad's and drawings. https://www.facebook.com/214563285228094/videos/150240201732076/ or https://www.facebook.com/214563285228094/videos/1930103830340689/
  3. On ordering some today I was informed that they are in production now. So any details that have not been fixed already will be up to us to fix (my words). But it's still very definitely an iron mink, which a while ago we could only dream of. Production models will not be too long now.
  4. I imagine that this will be a re-issue of the Lionheart 16t mineral wagons, good models. Some info here http://www.anticsonline.co.uk/2307_1_108142369.html
  5. http://www.warwickshirerailways.com/gwr/gwrb1787.htm lower right seems to have a similar buffer beam end to the Minerva model, but not the same buffers. Speaking to Minerva yesterday, I got the impression that the minks were pretty much ready to go, I don't know how much room for manoeuvre they still have. They were pretty keen to keep this a secret until ready to go - possibly a result of the 57xx duplication experience.
  6. I think you missed the point, The 71 (and other DJM projects) was slated as 'vapourware' - and yet here it is was the point Roy was making. Glad you like yours, as do I.
  7. It would not surprise me if the there was some variation from real one to real one, they were after all basically hand built.
  8. Could be, as you say - 2 pluses, but Bachmann brass did a batch which may subdue the market. However I'm in line if rat it is.
  9. Heljan have done 20, 25 26 31 leaving 21,22,23,27,28,29 of which 23 is planned by DJM, 27 is v similar to 26 and 30 v similar to 31. That narrows the choice to 21,22,24,28,29 22 is a possible Dapol growbag job and not Eastern region so unless combined with a 21 (complex) that is out too, the probables are thus 21, 24, 28. The Eastern connection says 21, preservation connection says 28.
  10. Cake used for a sherry trifle surely has a proof!
  11. Lionheart found they did not sell as well as the others, and had a show special sales to shift them.

    Ask Dave

Can be done in O gauge using ABC traction motors - not cheap but then the equivalent quality gearboxes are not cheap either. Waiting list is huge though. AFAIK they are just wired in parallel, no complex electronics is required, each drive will apply traction to the limit of its power input as long as you operate below slip. One is advised not to over weight the model, if you want more traction just power more axles. 2 axles is supposed to be good for 8 coach units, but a single in a four can be prone to slip. (one assumes level track only)
  13. It was the lead seals on the binding which caused the problem, it was tempting to dispose of them in the melt rather that find a separate place. The binding was probably string rather than steel wire in those days and would burn off.
  14. The silver lining is that they will not be in the christmas and/or CNY postage rush which probably raise the chances of going astray or damage. Steady does it.
  15. Now chaps (and chappesses) listen up. We need a volunteer, someone of resource - someone who is willing to take one for the team. Through the heat of the soldering iron and the vapours of glue and paint, some one willing to complete a kit or scratch build of these here birdcages. We know that coaches are gregarious and its not until they see a fully completed set that the birdcages will be prepared to break cover and show themselves. It's a tried and tested plan, many have been there before, but it's going to be tough. Volunteers take one step forward.
  16. Until you put it in the water - then its FOMO
  17. Do we know that Heljan used scanning? I understood they had yet to embrace the technology and were still 'old school'.
  18. Latest sample image for 05 has now been put up on the Tower Models website.
  19. the Rapido thread '3D scanning Rapido's latest UK prototype' post#60 suggests otherwise.
  20. So it seems it all depends on who Rapido's Uk partner is. If it is Realtrack then there are only two DMU's in the offing at Warley. But if it is someone else then there are three DMU's to be announced. Either way its still good going.
  21. It seems those have to go on(in) the track - going to be a small coordination problem getting the delay after the passing of the train correct for the initial 'waft'. The 'afterglow' should be much more easily simulated. Modified Glade smell thingies perhaps. For those wishing to detail the track some research is going to be required - turds hitting the track at train speeds are dispersed, but if memory from my limited track walking experiences serves, the paper does survive longer but it probably depends on the sort of paper supplied - izal or soft.
  22. That cuts out a few possibilities then
  23. Surely it will be in the holding tank - as per prototype.
  24. It may not be a red herring, yet still be misleading. What if there are more than 2 liveries, but only two of them are in the initial release?
  25. Slightly different cad renderings have now been put up on Tower models website
