  1. I'm after a Vitrains class 47 47484 I K Brunel, any condition Thanks Paul
  2. Hi folks I'm trying to source one of the above, if anyone out there wants to sell one please let me know Thanks Paul
  3. The high level line is the West Highland line (leading onto the Oban line at Crianlarich Upper), and there was indeed an island platform up there. The line on the left of the photo with the 303 leads onto the old pier station, which was electrified. It is now a ruin. The main line station only has one platform and the West Highland is also without a platform since 1964. Paul
  4. the one on the inspection saloon is a 24 - it's got a boiler water tank, the 25/0s didn't. Hope this helps Paul
  5. First one is a 224 at Yorkhill, taken from the bridge over the Clydedide Expressway at the SECC. The Voyager is at Scout Green Paul
  6. Thanks Iain, it's hard to tell the difference when you see quality work like that. I've been humming and hawing about changing to EM but the effort and expense of re-guaging over 100 locos (including kits) and a mountain of rolling stock makes reality hit hard! Well done and keep it up! Paul
  7. On the subject of your excellent layout is it 00 fine scale or EM? It, and Alloa, are very hard to tell. Paul
  8. They were barred over to prevent the door windows being broken by the tablet in its pouch when working on the West Highland and Callander & Oban - happened sometimes. I believe that's why the 26s lost their cab doors which were plated over. Paul

Not wanting to be in any way pedantic or controversial the K1's origins lie directly with the K1/1 which was rebuilt by Edward Thompson from a Gresley K4 which had itself been built specifically for the West Highland line (the K4s were one of only two classes of locomotive that were built specifically for that line). At the end of the day they all had 'British Railways' written on the tender so does it really matter that much? Looks lovely whatever it DNA! Paul
  10. Just received my D369 from Rails, beautiful loco, well done Bachmann. Can't speak to its running capabilities due to lack of a layout but a nice model. Paul
  11. Not sure about Luib, think that was on a slight curve - I reckon it's Dalmally Paul
  12. It was basically a new build with the exception of the fuelling road (red brick, nearest the E&G Main line) which was kept and re-used for that purpose. Other than that it was a new building. Paul
  13. Anyone (like me for instance) that has one and wants to justify it running on Scottish Region metals (other than the one that was used in the late 50s for a short while on trial - D8208 I think?) should take note of the photo in the link below https://www.flickr.com/photos/95062750@N04/10116293454/in/photolist-gpWDAE-bGvS5B-bvwsXn-eb1FTx-cqeosA-jkxBjU-9dvNuR-jZy99j-aDqqoF-afZ9wY-dnJGsB-bNDymM-a5MMM6-bu2BkZ-bu2FRx-bu2Azv-bu2FY6-bzJUPJ-dqhkN3-g2PKh7-g2RGXR-g2RGY2-g2PKmA-goF6uU-dnvD6s-dqfVqU-ejHp9g-ejP8qb-eig6je-eig7XH-eig7kM-eig8cc-dVgyqD-b1beJF-fPBDFy-aiMMpD-kw6fSs-dkF1ST-eYAQz9-aDuhmw-iGmkGq-iGj5m7-iGiARB-dRPrgd-aDuiaY-eYpkPP-b3pua8-dXSgr5-aC4Mhc-ehXkPZ-ejHqWp It shows D8236 inside St Rollox Shed (65B) on 21 July 1965 - absolutely no idea what it was doing there but would dearly love to know! Paul
  14. you can almost see where I wrote-off an Allegro in that photo too (well you would if somebody moved that second type 2 at any rate...) Paul
  15. Thanks 'Chard, have a look through his Flickr site (if you have a spare day or so!), lots of photos of class 50s north of Glasgow (well, 3 or 4 anyway...) plus loads of other cracking shots. Paul
  16. Not yet blue but full yellow ends and BR arrows. http://www.flickr.com/photos/96859208@N07/9643833877/ Paul

They all ran in from Eastfield once built by NBL and doubtless found their way onto the West Highland, even if for only one run. In any case, a change of number will sort a Scottish one out (62011/12/34/54 spring immediately to mind and there were others) Paul
  19. Perhaps a poll to give some indication of how many good ones versus how many with problems have been bought by RMWebbers? I realise hat it would only be a straw sample, much like many of the statistics being touted in the referendum debate....oh no, think I'l lie down... Paul
  20. that was one of the big problems with the original run - the roof 'came down' too far, resulting in the sides being too shallow and the radiator grilles being squashed, ending up very rectangular instead of almost square. Mine also arrived today and first impressions are very good, thankfully! Paul
  21. May be wrong but I don't remember seeing these views of D5326 at Shankend, available for sale from this website (no connection but I'll be buying some on the website) http://railphotoprints.zenfolio.com/p741678313/h1ce8df2f#h1ce8df2f http://railphotoprints.zenfolio.com/p741678313/h163bddd7#h163bddd7 Paul
