  1. To add a bit more inconvenience for passengers, from today the rail replacement coaches are no longer running from the station front but have been moved to the most distant part of the bus station, 5 minutes walk from platform 4 if you know the way and have no bags, a major pain if you just got off the train from Manchester Airport with your holiday luggage
  2. with a bit of the Workington flood "can do " attitude could they run top and tail from Scunthorpe to the blockage then reverse through Goole and continue via Selby wouldn't work very well for passenger services but might get the freight through and whilst i'm being creative, run TPex from Doncaster to Hull, stopping at Hessle for a coach over the Bridge to Grimsby and Cleethorpes
  3. probably a big slag heap with a lake at the top if it then
  4. maroon 47 falls off track, maroon support coach falls off track, maroon coaches close 4 track mainline, you can't blame the rain with evidence like this
  5. there was a Steam hauled special, maroon coaches and all passed through this very spot on Saturday.. coincidence?, i don't think so
  6. i was thinking Rotherham... well, Waverley opencast, big hole, direct rail link
  7. they need to get serious, proper earth moving equipment and remove the tip, load it into trains at the station end of the site and take it to a big hole
  8. looking at Google earth, any new alignment has got the M18 at one end, the station and junction at the other and some kind of lakes/ponds to the South, there is no cheap and easy solution
  9. aerial picture of it, its a biggie http://twitter.com/networkrail/status/301424568516632576/photo/1
  10. the diversions via Selby don't appear to be happening, most Hull services are cancelled including the Doncaster to Sheffield leg
  11. some interesting knock on effects, 158s running up the ECML from Doncaster to Temple Hirst and this morning the sand train from Barnby Dun came into Doncaster with a 66 on the front and 66/67/66 on the back, don't think i've ever seen such a consist before Hull traffic can go via Selby but Scunthorpe is a bit trickier
  12. This looks very strange, i'm guessing some sort of movement of colliery waste Network rail staff advised to leave the area https://twitter.com/networkrail/status/301281832606003200/photo/1
  13. So even Bouch used consultants, nothing new under the sun
  14. perfect, thats what we call purple in 144 land i'll be buying one
  15. looking good don't forget to check that purple seat colour on the current livery
  16. thats a great picture for matching the true shade of rail blue
  17. Fun sized HSTs, two locos and two coaches, thats one coach per loco
  18. I'm not disputing the name of the colour, its just that the seats in real life are purple and the samples above are clearly not the colour of the real seats. If you mould the seats in purple plastic they will be the correct colour, if you mould them in any shade of blue they will not match the real thing perhaps someone could compare the sample with an actual seat before finalising the production run
  19. that ones amazing, no one would think of photoshopping it
  20. i also saw a train of 123s but can't for the life of me picture the loco, i'd long stopped writing things down by then
  21. the early northern livery had red seats, the later ones have purple seats, none of them are any shade of blue in real life
  22. North Star was never in GW livery don't think any Northern liveried units have transferred elsewhere the units going to Hull were 123s never saw a trans pennine with an odd driving car but i did see a doncaster hull working where the usual DMU had a trans pennine non driving power car tagged on the back
  23. probably panicking needlessly but will the seats be purple in the later northern livery?
