  5. Mike, I can see by your posts you have a sense of humour. In 00 I don't think any of us can take the hobby too seriously We strive to get the first 2 dimensions spot on (height and length). · 3rd dimension is corrupted by 16.5 (should be 18.83). Of course that does not matter because perspective eliminates this. Yes Pinocchio, I believe you! · 4th dimension is time; just a few evenings work! Yes Pinocchio, I believe you! · 5th dimension is a sense of humour. If this isn’t in your toolbox join a club. I love the "tall tales" - At the Wolverhampton show there was a BR Standard Crosti boilered 73xxx WOW
  6. If I am truthful it has taken me 40-60 hours to build basic locos. I would starve to death if I tried to sell locos at the national minimum hourly rate. But then 90% is thinking time. The more experienced don't need this.
  7. You will surely recognise me from the photo
  8. Thanks for that. I would have gone with the preserved one as it was a Barrow Road one and worked up throgh Yate. More research!
  9. WOLVERHAMPTON EXHIBITION this weekend. The start of the modelling season.

  10. me too but it's just a bit of careful filing. If ever I buy something and not have to repaint/renumber/add weight/retender/rechimmney/detail or modify it in someway I'll give up the hobby!
  11. Most of the "Aladdin's cave" shops have gone now. Only visited Motorail books once whilst on a holiday but it was an interesting place.

    Well worth a visit
  16. I have not yet bought a Bachmann 4f as I am confused by the conflicting reviews in the big 4 magazines. (I guess I am also hoping the price drops after Christmas). The haulage claims vary as do the comments on quality, running and just how robust this model is. One factor is the advertising revenue from manufacturing companies prevents the mags from being too critical. This does not apply here as we have a free press. You just can’t beat the help from rmweb so please comment.
  17. This is a good method. Built by Tony Geary (Dibatag) and now owned by RonnieS. I borrowed it about a year ago to copy for my Stove R but have not got round to it yet......................Sorry Ronnie! Any way this Wagon Compensation Unit RTR EM/P4 (4 wagons) - Dart Castingswww.dartcastings.co.uk/mjt/2291.php‎ and the pic says it all
  18. Just use a black permanent marker on wheels/valve gear and handrails. Quicker than paint and ten times as resilient.
  19. Great post! I hate the post April '63 yellow stripe on first class coaches. So as the first, second and composite sleepers are the same bodyshell. I know my way out of that one.
  20. The best method of removing child proof tops is my 3 year old Grandson!
  21. GD used CCTs on some Bs George Dent Model Maker: ESSO SO GOOD (cont..) CCTs have the edge on other decals but you have to read the instructions. The first Banana van I lettered up got my usual tiny spot of enamel varnishon the transfer prior to the weatering blow over. I should have used Acrylic varnish.
  22. Hi Mike and sorry about the class B/A mix up earlier! I skim read so I assumed yours was a class B. I am doing Bs and will not have any spare Transfers. CCtrans are not very expensive but maybe he will do a minipack as part of a bigger order. I am going to ask him if he could do some specials as I need some BR(WR) Giant and Monster transfers that I dont think he does. One thing for certain the wagon you have built is superb! It certainly deserves John's decals.
