Mainly because the original plan was to build a scale one mile stretch, have prototypical signalling sections, and in effect run it like the real railway.

In the most part, yes it will be a one person project. However, I have plenty of modelling friends who seem happy to volunteer which will be a great help

Right, so here's my current N Gauge layout plan for y'all to get excited about. I am currently having my baseboards professionally built (the benefits of employing a carpenter). The layout is going to be a scale 1 mile section from Burton on Trent station to Wetmore and will have a scenic section of 36ft. Obviously, this is not going to be a quick build but it's long been my dream to build this section of line (I grew up on the Midland Mainline). The first 16ft will be constructed first so it can be used, while the remaining 20ft is then constructed. The south end hosts the station, most of which will be off scene and the North end will have the light maintenance shed and private sidings. The era will be early 90's. Control will be DCC, with prototypical signal sections etc. If anyone has photos of the area (any era), I'd be interested to see them. Overall Plan 36ft. Baseboard 1 - 4ft x 2.5ft. Baseboard 2 - 4ft x 2.5ft. Baseboard 3 - 4ft x 2.5ft. Baseboard 4 - 4ft x 2.5ft. Baseboard 5 - 4ft x 2.5ft. Baseboard 6 - 4ft x 2.5ft. Baseboard 7 - 4ft x 2.5ft. Baseboard 8 - 4ft x 2.5ft.
