  1. was it fife_loco by any chance? as had issues with him.
  2. I model late 60's BR western region so got westerns warships etc, (I'm only 33) but I live in south wales but model the west country on my layout, however I've got some steam for modellers license i.e. Bachmann 43xx and Bachmann Manor, All westerns are lima so is the warships, hymeks are all triang.
  3. hi stewart I'm more than happy to post if required mate Cheers Rob.
  4. cheers for that butler h, I will keep looking but worse case scenario I will scrap her,
  5. hi stewart, Cardiff mate, Cheers Rob
  6. hi guys thanks for your input on this, I will keep trying but worst case scenario I will scrap the loco and purchase a later ringfield one. Cheers Rob.
  7. might give it a thought, but would like to stick to ringfields etc due to ease of servicing, rather have locos that are easy to change brushes on.
  8. early 70's mate, its the original Hornby black five with all wheels driven on the tender, and the tender/loco permanently connected, good hauler as well. my layout is 100% system 6 early half sleeper quadruple track
  9. hi 81c, I have tried, but no joy, but seeing if someone can do it professionally due to my time constraints. Many thanks Rob.
  10. Hi everyone, this is a long shot, basically the permanent connection on a silver seal black five has snapped, I have tried to do a repair on it using the revel plastic glue but its snapped again, bit of a pain in the backside personally is anyone able to repair this at all please? , but I would like it modified to the later connection (tender and loco separate arrangement) if possible as someone I believe has done so, I'am more than willing to pay for it though as I don't want to loose the loco picture attached Any information/input much appreciated Many thanks Rob.
  11. I'm up for that esp for the era I'm doing WR 1969 , as we desperately need more BR blue pre TOPS locos
  12. just bought yesterday online, some blue/grey mk1s lima, on their site, only grumble I have is that the add to cart thing makes you come off the page with the listings, it would be better to have the function of adding to cart but stay on same page as listings so you can add more stuff instead of messing around. cheers.
  13. I remember Terrys train shop, dad and I took my class 91 (no longer in my possession) for repair in about 1993 ish, wasn't much help though I recall but I was only 7 at the time, lendons are pretty good for spares esp brushes and traction tyres and they actually do loco remagnatising for triang locos as he did my entire stock of triang Hornby locos for me plus up the road from me, lord and butler are ok for second hand but don't service their second hand locos as I have found out numerous times as I have had to service the locos myself to get them running decent and its a nuisance driving to Penarth road all the way from heath on a Saturday and their second hand stock has dwindled a bit apart from that I have used L&B since they opened, Will I continue to use them? Definitely Yes as they are always helpful in there credit to peter and Adrian, there used to be a model shop in Newport near the broad street bridge.
  14. that's crazy, this is one of the reasons I simply will not buy new items due to spares issues I can afford new but wont buy it for this reason, I'm 32 and I actually prefer lima, if you can get the motors with the small gears then you are laughing, all my westerns are lima including one that's been repainted professionally into D1037 western empress with early chrome blue, plus I have every warship variant made by lima now including all 3 blue warships, druid in maroon with full yellow panels etc, plus 809 champion. I want locos that I can service and keep running not just use the loco and when the brushes are used up it just sits there doing nothing- false economy. rant over
  15. thanks guys I glued them on in the end, much prefer the lima 101 to Hornby simple fact is the motor is serviceable whereas Hornby is a sealed motor
  16. Hi Geoff, lima made the dmu as a power twin, as there are engines underneath dummy power car. cheers rob
  17. Hi all I've just got a class 101 lima in the plain blue livery, I've noticed that there are no holes for the exhaust on the dummy power car, How have you guys got around fitting exhausts to the dummy power car? as it is bit puzzling me, many thanks in advance Rob.
