  1. I hope he makes a class 103 power trailer as I will be well happy with that might order class 119 blue/grey with headcode but will supply the chassis as want lima motors due to ease of servicing them,
  2. Hi all, just noticed on the chris dyer fairs, that there are no longer any swapmeets in cardiff next year, i'm gutted cheers rob
  3. I've noticed chris dyer has stopped all cardiff swapmeets next year. i'm gutted to say the least
  4. with the lima motors, the later small geared bogies I find are better for running, slower but better traction and running wise , all my lima stock is the later small geared type, no issues
  5. just give it a service, lima motors esp the later small geared slow ones are much better.
  6. Also guys can you park responsibly please as cbyc's entrance road is near the ice rink 👍
  7. I dislike sam's trains, alot of things he hasn't a clue about, and always quick to slate off older stuff, and i've been railway modelling for the past 30 years (got first set in 1991)
  8. if Hornby want 200 quid for a class 08 in blue pre tops they can shove it. they are pricing people out of the hobby and i'm not paying 200 quid for something i cant service
  9. how easy is it to do? as i would like to convert a DMBS to DMS
  10. lima 117 are like gold dust on ebay, i'm looking to convert a DMBS to a DMS and a DMBS to a class 121 DTS
  11. Talking of the devon banks, Did BR actually try the blue pullman on its own over the devon banks? as I know it was piloted by a western one time (seen photo)
  12. Just seen a lima small bogie parcels van in blue for £99.99 are they serious?
  13. as long as the oil pads are oiled, and the bearing behind the magnet is oiled (careful with magnet) then they should quieten down.
  14. I tried that, Does anyone do this professionally as I'm willing to pay
  15. Hi all, I have just replaced the axles on a mainline pannier (trying to have a go at it) and I cant seem to get the quartering right, I have tried the jig that you can get off ebay but still struggling, Any Ideas? Thanks in advance everyone Cheers
  16. just ordered 2 pannier ones now, to have a go at revitalising a chassis. bit of experimentation
  17. there is nothing wrong with the lima motors, as long as they are serviced properly they are fine
  18. Horace, my layout is set in 1967 Western Region location is west country so I can allow for warships Both D600 (silverfox/lima) + D800 (All lima), baby warships (same as D600), hymeks (triang + Hornby), westerns (lima + 1 Hornby), blue pullmans (triang Hornby), lima class 117 +121s etc, Mark 1 coaches there are plenty to choose from, I tend to use lima, and some Bachmann though, mixed blue/grey + maroon, with a small rake of mk2 (lima) I did use to have triang mk1's, but the drag was stupid on them, so got rid of the lot and got lima + Bachmann, with the Bachmann ones I have replaced the narrow NEM couplings with the Hornby wide NEM couplings (with coupler) however the height difference on the couplers is noticeable though, Loco wise, I've noticed the manufacturers dont really cater for this era much which annoys me
  19. Lima locos are bomb proof, just give it a service and it will be ok,
  20. would love to see videos of beamish railway at that time, with the locos running
  21. i have emailed steve to see if he can do it. do mainline have traction tyres?
  22. I can afford the new ones as cost not a problem, but rather have the older ones due to easier servicing, Tim, I have used steve before as he did a class 47 respray for me 2 years ago, from green to pre tops blue, I'm banned from lord and butler anyway due to a comment i put on here which as a customer i'm perfectly entitled to do.
  23. as long as they have decent pulling power, and are not split chassis then fine, however i like to service them,
  24. I know rob at lendons, I will ask him about it, as he might be able to do it, yes they do spares, and repairs, as he is my very local shop. not far from me
  25. just a quick question, with these, are there any companies that will fit the peter spares new gears etc and sort the quartering out?, as i might buy a mainline manor, but get it sorted out professionally.
