  1. Did pop in this afternoon, bought excellent bacon buttie & cup of coffee, a book and two coaches. Good little show and thanks for the parking tip; used TESCO.
  2. There is, or was one on the circuit. Saw it at the Weymouth show a few years back.
  3. Appreciate this thread is last year's but can't see one started for the 2018 event which is listed in Rly Modeller for this weekend. Not local to area but passing thro' tomorrow for the 2018 Show on way home from something else so aiming to call in. Google Earth shows only a very small car park at back of building. Where is the best place to park a van to pop in and what road should I put in the Sat Nav?
  4. I think the scrap heap challenge idea of build an X here's the box of stuff you can use would have been more logical (it's what we do) but has been done on TV before and the "make something to fit out of this" is different and I thought worked. Two teams succeeded well, one perhaps not so successfully.
  5. Enjoyed it. Pendon it was not, but couldn't be, like TimeTeam done on three days as it adds a bit of jeopardy. It's the sort of thing that may well attract newbies hoverers of any age and possibly some kids to have a go. I know my daughter has recorded it for my young grandsons to watch. If I have a crit it is the scheduling at 8pm not 7, as too late in the evening for youngish kids and hopefully it will get a repeat at some time in an earlier time slot.
  6. Agree, what is lacking is a range of OH EMUs to match the existing OH Locos. As an example I was pondering on Ilkley as a steam preserved/BR interface station assuming the line onwards towards Addingham and Bolton Abbey had closed but been preserved.. A nice station to model. What is lacking are any r-t-r EMUs for the modern side, neither the older 308s or what is running there now. Kits it would have had to be. I think there is one r-t-r OH EMU and that is it, yet both 1500v OH locos and 25Kv types have been available, on and off, since the 60s.
  7. The erroneous line of code now traced and fixed. The page link for 2019 Show advance tickets is not the same as for the last show - https://yorkshow.org.uk/wordpress/advance/ From there either the traditional post/cheque/SAE or the on-line ordering/payment options can be selected.
  8. Thanks for the links - both passed on to my daughter for info'.
  9. Was visiting and went this year. Organised by the Sally Annie though not a local club to Selby
  10. Thanks, will go ahead with an order.
  11. Thanks for the responses. Will keep them as they are given the variation was original not fading.
  12. Is there a model railway club in the Selby Area? My grandson is railway mad and getting ready to move onwards. My daughter knows there are clubs in both York and Hull but logistically they are too far away to travel. This query is therefore on her behalf - is there a railway, or other model making group, in the Selby vicinity?
  13. Ages ago I was given an old Tri-ang E3001 and some blue grey mark one's, the livery is a paler blue than the more recent issues. I have been told these are a set of early batch coaches based on the X64 livery. Is that actually correct? The follow up is have they any rarity value as they are. I'm not looking to sell them but if they are rare/less common examples (As opposed to just faded) I will make sure they get well boxed etc., between running sessions and don't get repainted or otherwise altered.
  14. Came across this whilst looking for an answer to another question regarding the Q6 model, therefore now two questions not one:- 1) Do you think they are worth buying given these issues? 2) My other question - Anybody know why the price on the BR livery versions seems almost double that for the LNER option? The next layout I build will be a preserved line so livery for any purchase is partially immaterial. (If the line is fictitious so can be the preservation societies allowing flexibility in what might have been preserved) Best price I have seen so far on the LNER example is almost half what the BR one's are set at. Is it just overstocking/discounting to clear? Edit update - if relevant to the answer re (1) it will be for DC Analogue running not DCC and with Gaugemaster control gear.
  15. Further update on converting the old section's pages to new. 2019's list of confirmed layouts is now live at https://yorkshow.org.uk/wordpress/layouts/ ; please note this is work in progress and there are many more to come.
  16. Updates to the text based pages are taking longer to change over than expected and will be continued during the rest of the week. Advance tickets - Postal purchase form live at - https://yorkshow.org.uk/wordpress/shop-by-post/ Advance tickets - on-line - See https://yorkshow.org.uk/wordpress/advance/ then click the On Line Shop link the page is live and works. Some more cosmetic work to do on it.
  17. For the next couple of hours we will be uploading new replacement pages and removing/redirecting many of the older one's to those on the revised site - we apologise for any confusion and down time during this period. The Box Office for Advance Tickets will be opening from later tonight for both postal/cheque applications and a replacement PayPal based system. However, the PayPal side is is a completely revised system, therefore although our tests indicate it is working we cannot replicate every user's devices therefore please be aware the may be some initial teething problems.
  18. If taking the DMU direction wouldn't a 'Thumper' or a trailer unit 4TC style be easier to fit into any line's loading gauge and could be constructed using standard coach components from the likes of Alan Keef et al.
  19. To be fair I think we've also all seen similar poor driving with people leaving the designated Warley Car Park too. Exacerbated when the NEC site management have also had evening event goers trying to get in.
  20. Thank you for including the SLS image, we still exist. Love the Midland 4-4-4T, that is one that should have been built.
  21. Work is ongoing off-line to convert the key pages on the site to WordPress prior to the intended go-live date for Advance Ticket sales on 1st October. As part of preparation for the new Advance Ticket sales season the YMRS website has today also swapped over to secure (https:) status, this may require minor updates to personal bookmarks and other links to our web site. Update: The Door Prices and Opening Times page now also updated for the 2019 Show. 2018's Prices & Times held. (NB Show Guide price still TBC) Other updates for the 2019 Show should follow during October.
  22. I'm not in the HRCA currently as my Dublo is in limbo pending a new layout so I would only be in for the magazine. (I was previously when my layout was active) However, I do recommend any Dublo runner joins as their Spares & Services directory is invaluable.
  23. The SLS will be there again. Photo print sales from the Stephenson Photograph Collection (Approx 4000 or 10% of all that is available in the range), Society impress books including the two titles we launched last year, membership deals/Gift memberships etc. Stand Number = B34.
