  1. This evenings batch are really a mixture.  Now and then I find a few album pages with a number of unrelated shots, tonight's selection is from such a page.

I'm not at all sure about this one as I have another similar print of Dad's with a note on the back saying it is an Industrial shunter near Lenton Junction.  Does any one know for sure?

The Royal Ordnance factory in Nottingham was next to Lenton Junction. It is now the NG2 Business park.

  2. This afternoon's photos once again involve Nottingham, Grantham and Cambridge. As always Dad was taking advantage of his track pass.

Fantastic photos again but I suspect this is a down train rather than an up. If it was going to London it would be on the goods lines and I think we should be able to see Nottingham South Goods signal box.

  3. Here are some photo's of D1047 Western Lord, a recent addition to the Shenston Road stud. Originally a Green SYE repainted into Blue and EM'd by turning down the original wheelsets.  1st of 5 members of the class to be added to the Shenston Rd stud (Nos 2 & 3 are in the works as I type), and that total doesn't include any maroon ones to be added when they arrive either.

  4. During my teenage years in the mid 80s my regular haunt was Arkwright Models on Gordon Road in West Bridgford, Nottingham run by Peter Gurd. He could usually be found in the dark recesses at the back of shop hidden in a fug of cigar smoke. I think he still trades at swapmeets and the like.

He was responsible for my dual powered Lima HST with a Zero1 chip in each end.

  5. Sorry but you will be waiting a while for that livery, as we are working backwards.   Got to sell what we have first before altering the roof, underfloor equipment, seats and floor plan. Our current model is out of date as they now have sanding equipment on them!

What ever we do is not what people want.  But a Metro Red one to be going on with!

Does look great and I will probably be having a couple (especially if the 3 car unit appears!) but, sadly, not unil they appear in the original Metro red and cream.

  6. Why am I not jumping for joy?

I think the MML has a few deeper (literally in the Erewash Valley) than string a few wires up will solve

Given that the only City of any size it serves is Sheffield, why not string the line between there and Retford and go ECML?

Nonsense. Nottingham and Leicester are both significant cities and Derby is not far behind. Nottingham in particular always appears smaller than it is as much of the contiguous built up area is not included in the population figure for the city. By the time you add in Beeston, West Bridgford, Arnold, Chilwell etc you end up with metropolitan area that rivals Sheffield in size.
