  7. How about another narrow gauge terminus and adjacent standard gauge - this time the Talyllyn and Cambrian Coast steam at Tywyn Wharf in July 1965. Keep 'em coming!
  8. Singapore Station - it is narrow gauge - in Sept 2004. Well it was narrow gauge as I understand it is now no longer used.
  9. So Lads - a clue! 'Crawling around some Wagons' (in the plural) and from the photograph of weeds in Post 203 - it has to be a weed killing train - Or maybe something in a green livery.
  10. Lisbon Rossio Station January 2017. And another terminus railway station please!
  11. I am aware of a model railway club that, I presume, still has on its premises a large library of railway books. Its members appear to prefer to do their research on the internet however and many books have lain unopened for many many years. Maybe we should have a section on RMweb with books available for swaps / for sale / to be give away etc. Someone out there might have that elusive title you require for your researches or specialist interest?
  12. Of course there is always the spectator who engages the operator in idle chat - very important idle chat to the spectator - and its usually trivial - and who continues idling chatting when the operator has more important matters requiring his / her immediate attention to keep things running for the other spectators. The idle chatterer often is oblivious to all going around him and gets 'put out' when the operator excuses himself. This 'excuse' is often an occasion when a stalled locomotive can bring a welcome break. .
  13. City Models in Liverpool and Jerry - a Dutch gentleman. I recall he had his first shop on Dale Street in Liverpool centre. And odd shop with acres of space and odd display cabinets. Seem to think the shop had been an aquarium shop in a previous life as it had all appearance of such a place, and not helped by dark blue walls. Then he moved up to close by Central Station. A very small shop and I remember it was always crowded three deep with customers. That site was then demolished for redevelopment and he moved to Stanley Street down the stairs where he and his assistant Paul gave everyone a warm welcome. And you could get your hair cut next to the shop. It was a favourite lunch time stroll from the office and a chance to catch up with the gossip with other modellers, also out for a stroll. I recall Gerry also would stand behind the counter in Stanley Street always building another kit. Another side to his skills was that he ran (including chef-ing) an excellent restaurant in the evenings in Tranmere over the Mersey from Liverpool. A lovely man.
  14. Talking about insurance claims - I would assume that they will all lose their No Claims - unless the claim can be directed at that particular Land Rover's insurers? And what about cars still in the car park undamaged? If the car park structure is damaged and the cars cannot be retrieved are these undamaged vehicles also to be written off? For 1400 cars at say an average of £20K each book value - comes to £28 million claim - and that doesnt include personal items or the car park itself.
  15. Not a Pete Goss original in something bigger than 0 gauge + that went wrong by any chance?
  16. How about after dark Cumbres and Toltec 2014! All the best to you all for 2018! Keep the pictures coming - wild cards or not! AM
  17. 6201 Princess Elizabeth and Class 47 D1755 / 47773 at Crewe on 17 November 2012. 6201 had just completed a round trip to Carlisle on S+C and had a bit of a struggle over Wilpshire Bank on the return trip.
  18. Thanks for that information on late running - take a flask and some sandwiches for the trip then! If lateness is routine, no doubt this is built into the planning. I accept freight has the priority on the tracks in North America. (AM)
  19. Picked up today Saturday 23 December on https://asm.transitdocs.com that the westbound Canadian running from Toronto toi Vancouver is running 13 hours and 19 minutes late. No reason given but my question is - how does VIA Rail deal with crew changes in running this late and do the train crews have a time limit on how long they work?
  20. Going back in time to 1982 - the weekend of Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 January and a SLOA Land Cruise from Carlisle to Mallaig via Mossend with loco haulage over the weekend using 26029 37112 37260 83005 and 85021. Left Carlisle two and a half hours late due to bad weather and poor connections in England and most of the trip over WHR in dark with a full eclipse moon. Fort Bill was minus 24 degrees C for the overnight stay. Train eventually ran all the way back to Euston arriving 02.13 am on the Monday morning. I wouldn't have missed it for anything!
  21. It would be a North America H0 layout he would model - the Santa Fe Railway.
  22. A few more NBR J36's including another of the Kipps cut down chimney 65285. 65217 French and its sign written name plate and its tender cab. And also 65211 at Parkhead MPD in Gloasgow with a Blue Train in the background.
  23. If the Romans had invented steam locomotives would a Pacific wheel arrangement have been IV-VI-II? Salvete!
