  8. Catching up with these posts - as a lad I can recall the Ravenscraig iron ore trains were hauled by Polmadie 66A WD 2-8-0's and 2-10-0's always double headed. And the three Polmadie LMS 2-8-0s 48773 / 48774 and 48775 were also regulars on these turns. Out via Carmyle from General Terminus in Glasgow centre and up the Coatbridge line and back to General Terminus via the West Coast Main line through Uddingston. Return journeys empties had the locomotives running tender first. They used to rattle my school room windows on the return journeys as they wasted little time to get back home. I recall the trains were made up of 28 wagons with a brake van at each end. Of course I never took photos of them. Like most things in the 1960's they were going to be there for ever.
  9. 60009 'Union of South Africa' on John Cameron's site of the Lochty Private Railway in Fife. This was after its BR service when it went into preservation in the late 1960's.
  10. To yellow ones this time - with locomotive on the bridge and bus going under - makes a change. HR103 on SLS Easter Rambler 17 April 1965 and Graham's Bus Limited Atlantean at Linwood near Paisley - home of course of the Hillman Imp.
  11. A few views from a train back in the late 1960's. On the now gone Duchal Moor Railway in Renfrewshire in Scotland. Used, I think, for grouse shooting. (AM)

  15. I have used Sketchup 3D programme - which is easy to use to create a 3D version of the building based upon the photograph. The 3D model is built full size in your computer and I use brick dimensions and known typical door and window sizes as a guide for dimensions. On completing the 3D drawing it can then be compared with the original photograph. It can then be tweeked as necessary by rotating the model to match the photograph. The 3D drawing is then translated into 2D. I use Autocad, but the elevations could be drawn out with a set square and tee square. In either case the dimensions of the building and the position of windows and doors are established from the 3D model. And, of course since completing the construction of the model, a drawing of Whithorn Station has come to light. In his recent book, ‘The Port Road’, Andrew F.Swan included a floor plan and the platform elevation of Whithorn Station. The book tells us that the building was 74’0” long by 18’0” deep. A check on my built model found my dimension of the front elevation is only 18” short when compared with the original, and is the correct front to back depth. I had not allowed for the doors being slightly wider on the original when I drew it out. whithorn station building.skp.pdf

  17. How about a Go Train in Toronto 2015? Just below the CN Tower.
  18. Photos attached were taken back in the mid 1970's for a model I never progressed. Found 'em with a stack of other negatives. Hope they give the answers on a bit more about Crianlarich Station and its earlier station buildings and the station environs. (AM)
  19. To young37125 - Have just found around 20 photographs of Crianlarich I took in the mid 1970's including the gable end of the tea room at the signal box. Any use? Have scanned them into my computer. Or should I load them all on to this part of the RMweb forum - sorry no trains or locomotives but a few wagons? AM
  20. Keeping with the Talyllyn theme. Brynglas Crossing around 1966. No shelter for the blockman, but he is complete with his portable radio probably tuned into the BBC Home Service or the Light Programme. And he has his own Hi Vis top well - before the days of Hi Vis.
  21. A couple of No.4 in a different livery again. Not sure how long this one lasted.
