  1. What's the story lads? Taking some time to settle in a new job, also working late shifts for the last and upcoming month and days off separated from each other so not much time left for the evening webbing or modeling. I do peek here from time to time but haven't really had time to post. From recent models, no progress on my hopper was made since last update. But I finally got my 810 railcar sprayed, the red could have been darker but it wll do a good base to weathering which should also make it less aparent. CSD/CD paints http://domacimodulovka.kx.cz/tabulka.htm @ Dave, I'll mail you later what I have, don't remember now, humbrol gloss that all I remember. BR Marian
  2. Hey Squeaky, yes, 144 pieces of BR106/V60DR were imported between 1976 - 1983 to Czechoslovakia mostly for industry. The loco was made by LEW Hennigsdorf, Germany. They are still quite common in Germany. http://cs.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lokomotiva_716 http://www.zelpage.cz/atlasloko.php?id=716 http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/DR-Baureihe_V_60 BR Marian
  3. It is indeed coming nicely together Ian! Good work, I'm getting that homey feeling seeing that kind of track layout! Looking forward to next updates. BR Marian
  4. http://odlitkymodely.cz/h0_motorove_vozy.html There is supposed to be an etched kit at some stage from Modely Masinek, now only TT http://www.modely-masinek.cz/motorove-vozy/rada-852-_-853 http://www.modely-masinek.cz/motorove-vozy/rada-854-_-954 I have some plans too, hopefully kicking in once I start working form home. Marian
  5. I hope galleries here answer your question, its design http://www.prototypy.cz/?rada=742 the lower series had no ribs on cab, and had 3 ribs on frame, also different frame for the headlight with each series. For this I think is really best the DK model kit, as all those parts are included and you build according to your documentation and photos. MTB costs around 160euro. DK model with athearn S2 chasis 30 bucks less, but gives you option to fully customize up to your needs. As Taigatrommel mentioned above thats whats modeling is about, for example I am still afraid t odo mods on RTR models but I'm not afraid to do these mods whils building a kit. Well the 742 is older than 714, so they may have been there on more than one ocassion. BR Marian
  6. Hi lads, its the overal impression from the model, I myself was looking to get 742 "Bangle/Bangladesh" myself, I was looking forward to it more than the 721. - pink lights, possble to fix by drop of translucent red paint - shape and size of the fuel tank - the X under the louvers in the long hood, prototype has this formed into tent shape, on the model it looks like press stamped - i guess this model i okay for a layout where you will watch it from 3ft away, I woudl not put it on display where the most intricate detail can be seen see here, prototype: MTB model ©AMB: Radek Ciba: https://picasaweb.google.com/rdkcbr88/FotkyStavba7422587 Built from DK model brass etch. If you feel confident building/like building of brass etched models, then this is for you. I have one worked on for a long time now, only if i had time to finish it. @ Ian, why not? I would not be suprised if they do go to Dobris from time to time, it is after all one of the most common engines in former Czechoslovakia BR Martian
  7. I'd say so too that Bardotkas are their best model. 721 is second, 742 lost it under par, totally. Well, there has never really been much detail on bardotkas, but its true roco has slightly better detail. Marian
  8. How do you like its weight compare to the goggles?
  9. And I drink local whenI'm home, Cerna Hora (Black Hill) Hey, in regards to your 754 - pretty much anything, this loco is so called "universal" so passenger coaches and cargo cars alike. Also depends on what era you model, if your dvd is quite recent then yes you would see a lot of DB cagro stock as there's one of main transit lines to Austria and eastern countries. Station track plans, real ones here: http://diskuze.modely.biz/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=5039 and here: http://diskuze.modely.biz/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=5038 Model track plans, there are tons on above forum, I will post some links later, some may require registration, for example works of Milal Ferdian whom also published books Plany Kolejist 1 & 2. Quick peek: https://www.google.cz/search?q=planky+kolejist&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=C0PEU6LrD6WS7Aa2pIAY&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ&biw=1366&bih=667#q=Milan+Ferdian&tbm=isch BR Marian
  10. I have now opened my RM Web blog where I will keep you posted about my builds and other things I find interesting, mostly Czech railway models +
  11. I have never built a scratch built model before but I have always fancied the idea and was impressed by works of Czech modeler Vladimir Klusacek aka. Tempotaxi. So I decied to give it a try as well. I should have had chosen an easier model for the very first time, but hey challenge accepted and by now it's almost complete and would be pitty to give up on this stage. It also took me a lot of time to get here, expectations were different. I will not go in depth here on how to scratchbuild... it's not that difficult, but requires a lot of patience, sharp scalpel and something to make right angles by. The prototype: © Milan Cernohorsky, 1996 2 truck 4 wheel hopper balaster car type Faccpp 411V. Manufactured since 1972 in Zielona Gora, Poland. It was made in multiple modifications, the 411V was Imported to Czechoslovakia for track maitenance, main use as track balaster, the height of hopper tip is adjustable and emptying of the cargo can be done whilst the car itself is in motion in speeds up to 5kmph, the material is spread by the tipper at the same time. It has spine like main frame to which the trough itself and control facilities are attached. The car is fitted with 2 diamond style 2Xta trucks. The model (still in progress): I have started by gathering documentation and pictures, there are very few pictures of this car from the CSD era, I had to ask veterans for some csd pic which has been sent to me. Also there are very few decent drawings so I had to improvise on some parts, eg. the hopper tipper is 2 mm shorter to allow for the trucks to turn in sharper curves than prototype. When I thougth that I have gathered enough resources I have started working on the main hopper trough, cut out of card styrene 0.3mm thick, glued this together and added tipper part to the bottom. Once I had this block I started attaching the detailing on both sides made from plastic half ring profiles and metal T and L profiles. At this stage it become apparent that I need to start building the spine frame and buffer beams in order to be able continuing building. The frame spine is from rectangle shaped brass profile and the buffer beams from evergreen styrene rectangular and C profile detailed with etched brass walk and buffer bases. I would have like for the complete frame and buffer beams to be completely metal as tehre is very little space underneath to conceal some solid weight, also the spine on this model is not exactly the same shape as on prototype because I did not have the proper drawing neither decent pic of the inside of the trough. At this stage I added the etched detail bits and also blasted it with few few thin coats of yellow in order to get the paint into difficult places before I complete the whole model. This is so far how it looks for now, with that I have now added the regulator and plough part. What still needs to be done: - buffers and air hoses - handrails on bufferbeam walks - handles for air control system of the hopper and tipper - finish yellow paintwork - paint both bufferbeams black - fit a little more etched detail (brake selectors etc.) - get someone to print me decals - weather and play! updates to follow hope you enjoyed it so far. During the building I have also side stepped to my other hobbies and little bit of learning with 3D SW and my first 3D printouts: Material 1, Prime Gray; iMaterialise results rather unsatisfactory, layers are very visible, a ? (T) profile has lost the I in it and left just the base _ this version of the cad model did not have stamped sides. Not worth the 20€. Test print 2, drawing version 2, SLA - Frosted Ultra Detail, Shapeways Well now we're talkin! I have read tons about 3d printing before I tried it and was aware of downsides FUD can have, its very fragile, in pic below you can see some corners already knocked off, next time delivery with support material. But this is value for money and material of choice for now (I mean near future): I would like to have a set of these at some stage, having actual physical model helped a lot with planning for 3d prototyping and future production of few more pieces at affordable price whilst not spending ages sculpting every little piece to same dimensions as the other one. Hi

. Hello and welcome to my blog. My name is Marian and I am from Czech Republic, country located in central Europe in the so called "Czech basin". We have been there for some time now, since times of great merchant Samo. Lets fast forward trhu the centuries, dukes, kings, monarchies and regimes and lets stop in 80'es - 90'es, era IV, era that I have deciced to model. And that is because of all the variety it offers, that is a lot of liveries, ones that were strictly adhered to as per official norms, colorfull ones thanks to losening of the political situation and the mix of CSD and CD. A bit faded look to everything. Here on my RM web blog I will present mostly models made by me, but also other things of railroad interest, mostly Czech, but I won't restrict just to that. Hope you will enjoy! Best regards Marian
  13. Yes, litrerarly any livery, mostly would be red with thin yellow stripe in the front, or thicker one running around the whole loco. For bardotkas it would also be the red/grey livery. The only post socialist livery you would not see would be completely red vehicles. Yellow stripes come to use when it become aparent that cherry red is almost invisible in darkness. In the era you model you could even use the models that have the socialist star on them and patch the star with a bit of paint. They would not repaint all vehicles directly after revolution, that took some time and after separation for Czechoslovakia into the 2 countries you stil lcould see CSD vehicles till late 90'es. See page 1 of this thread, May 1995 CSD Googles with CD coach
  14. Yeah ROCO had recently design change, I think they now put 2 small speakers everywhere.
  15. Go for it, I remember them when small, I do not remember when they stopped using this livery, since I remember them only in red/grey livery. Sound or no sound?
  16. Hey Rob, '89-94 was a nice era, quite interesting actually, noone really knew what's gonna happen. So the loco should be this one with this yellow stripe right? There are not too many pics 89-94, but have a look on the galeries below. Also the MTB limited edition is avail. only from AMB (modely.biz) and maybe vvitty may have one or 2 too. The MTB is going to be pretty much historically correct. Roco should be fine too, i do preffer the look of MTB tho, and also it is a czech company so if w buy their models we may have a luck and get different czech loco from them I dunno but for me the thin warning stripe has something into itself, of course I like other liveries too http://www.zelpage.cz/fotogalerie/motorove-lokomotivy/751/?a=&oddil=0 http://techmag.valka.cz/zel_p_751.htm http://www.fotodoprava.com/zam_foto3.htm http://spz.logout.cz/vozidla/751/751.php Let me know if you need anything In company of fine women and beer....hmmm sometimes i miss Czech republic, chicks and liquid bread, only if we had a sea and wages like in Ireland otherwise I love that contry:D Marian
  17. You gonna come back poor, regardless convertion ratios if you are there for 3 wks and plan to visit model shops No not 45czk per pound, please do not bring us back to those times, we too wanna evolve to better economy
  18. I guess it would fit, but Ian is right there if Squeaky plans to use the station as through, then matching tracks to straight section is going to be easier. It does look impresive and spacious, I remember when I was small, on 2.5 meters I wanted to fit dual track and depot with turntable, where are those years Glad to see you guys going so fast with your projects. Makes me wanna buy a house
  19. Pavel Gulich in makes etched parts for chassis http://pojezdy.wz.cz/Pojezd_T211.html, but you need to be able to press gears and wheels back on the axis, he does not provide that. 700 is on my plan somewhere in the future, but for my 710 I am considerng eitehr a Bullant chasis, or thinking of getting parts printed in ABS. I'll let you know if I stubmle upon something else. BR Marian
  20. Squeaky will be hunting millimetres there... Image speaks for all, skewed by 2 deg:
  21. You are welcome. Most of Czech stations would have paraller tracks, of course there are excetions and in model world we also have to accept some compromise too. Dacice based on 1:1, 500m from switch to switch, measured on map, that is 5.7 m in H0 What you looking for is this: http://www.pojezdy.eu/eshop/h0-specialni-vozidla-lepty/11-h0-muv-69-hekttor.html but since the track towards bottom edge of board is actually some sidings, then the sidings with silo and there was sidings after the station too, there could also be a small diesel shunter T211.0 (700) http://www.pojezdy.eu/eshop/h0-leptane-stavebnice-lokomotiv/1046-h-t211-prasatko-leptana-stavebnice-motorove-lokomotivy-lept-hekttor.html brass etch or resin cast only. or T334.0 (710) http://www.vlacky.biz/railex/eshop/2-1-LOKOMOTIVY/1-2-HO-1-87/5/1-T334 in preparation for production, was made almost 20 in H0 by Vacek. or you can get a complete painted kit but need to source motor, gears and wheels. I was thinking of bullant and making my own parts via some online 3d service because i have some bits of this loco too. http://www.vlacky.biz/railex/eshop/2-1-LOKOMOTIVY/1-2-HO-1-87/5/1316-T334-0090-kompletni-karoserie BR Marian
  22. But it's no longer connected, I am looking for reference when the track was taken down. I have re-drawn your Dacice again si it fits the buildings due to size of those I had to put the track running parallel with the board egde. Station bulding, goods shed and toilets are based on dimensions on manufacturers website. The silo and sheds are there only for reference, I am yet to find out what the silo was for (grain, flour, sugar). I'm going to find out how big it is via maps. BR Marian
  23. That's exacty the 1 I was refering to it would be shame to cut building for 40€. Te same company also offers Dacice goods shed http://www.modelkrajiny.cz/produkty/zeleznice/stavby/skladiste-dacice.aspx and toilets http://www.modelkrajiny.cz/produkty/zeleznice/stavby/zachodky-dacice.aspx . Just fund this now: http://para.unas.cz/dacice-vlecka.html in between years 1954-56 a Jednota (Coop) wholesale was built in Dacice, it had its own sidings, the remaints of this are still in place today 49°4'24.572"N, 15°26'12.476"E and the place is used by building supplies company.
  24. Hi all, until 2007 the station was on wooden sleepers http://para.unas.cz/leto.html then modernized in 2008 and all station tracks except switches are on concrete http://para.unas.cz/leto08.html I think you can put concrete sleepered track on main track, but make sure that you will have a lot of grass in, because after modernization the station tracks are kept in presetable condition. I forgot to mention that the track I used is peco coded 75, yes I can send you the anyrail file, send me your email via PM. If I'm counting right, the building size should be some 6*6.5inches (main building), based on dimensions here http://www.k-report.net/budova-16h/popis-foto/?id=43 to save space and fit the building you may have to run the tracks parallel to the layout endge or slice the building through and use only a part of it, but i would not do this to building for 40 Eur, if you are planning on scratchbuilding it then yes. As I said before I am willing to help anyone with Czech layout/stuff, simply because I can't have my own just yet. Edit: if you have tracks parallel to the board edge, you may then easily extend the station by inserting a mid piece to get longer tracks, just thought.. BR Marian
  25. Hi Jack, the numbering is the same as Austrian, in 1903 the line was extended to Waidhofen, begining of the line shuld be Kostelec u Jihlavy, in which case 2 would be besides station building, 3 on the other side. Description of the photograph I have quoted has confused me, it actually states "na druhe stanicni koleji" which I would translate as second station track. I ve also read that on lower importance branchlines only main track was numbered 1. Also a cube sugar was invented in Dacice in 1843 by J.K. Rad. The station had wooden sleepers before reconstruction, switches with wooden sleepers are there even after reconstruction. Threre are some cool pics here http://para.unas.cz/ in "Fotogalerie" too. And here Dacice by me BR Marian
