Was looking at the Manchester trams. Is it me or does anyone else think having to have platforms to enable people to get on and off is one of the most stupid ideas for a tram ever.
There's certainly an element of size with the platforms - but even the low ones can still take up a fair chunk of streets (like Bull St in Birmingham).
To be completely honest with you, I'm not sure what the ideal solution to these issues is - or if it even exists.
