I thought some of the TGSs did have buffers? I thought they were fitted on the loco end for working with Class 91s?

I think now we know the state of play their pre-order price is an informed estimate rather than a number plucked out of thin air. I doubt it'll stay at £119, but I also doubt it'll change by a noticeable amount.

Well I think the AC Electric boundary has finally been shattered. Bachmann are well and truly storming on with 85s and 90s and other Classes will follow, be it from Bachmann or another manufacturer. So I can't see it being too long before someone decides to do a new Class 91, Mk4s and DVT. I'm definitely after a full 225 set and another individual Class 91 which I would run with some of the other more unusual formations I've seen (such as with Mk2 air cons, and with the Mk3 rake with the buffered Class 43 DVT).

I think the difference here is that Hornby were already developing a new Mk2F and Bachmann beat them to it with their announcement, or at least that is what I heard. They changed it to a Mk2E so they could still recoup some money from the project and carried on. I sincerely doubt that Bachmann would announce a Mk3 in the manner that you suggest because I doubt Bachmann ever had a Mk3 tooling in 00 that they need to recoup money from. In regards to manufacturers making models that compliment one another, I don't see why that is such a silly notion. The model railway world is small and we can't rely on a single manufacturer to make all of the things we want. If Hornby already has a Mk3 available, it would be sensible for them to use, for example the ScotRail DBSO that Bachmann are releasing and the Class 90 to focus on their Mk3s - minimal investment could see them reap rewards from loco hauled ScotRail and InterCity Mk3s just by reconfiguring the interior and changing a few vents. If they release another Mk3 DVT alongside they're laughing!

I think with a little work Hornby's Mk4 could still be pretty acceptable. I've rewheeled my Intercity ones, and plan on adding the resin parts that Keen offer and some flush glazing. Once that's done I think they'll hold their own. The main problem is the Class 91 and DVT. In terms of the Mk3, I've stuck with Lima ones. The Intercity colour scheme is more accurate rather than using that horrible beige, and I think they're generally a slightly more accurate model without door entry lights and other more modern details. Plus as most of my Mk3s are meant for HSTs, it means at least all the coaches match rather than having a Lima tooling TGS and a Hornby tooling TSO, TRFB and TFO. Seeing a true Mk3a would be nice though, along with an RFM and BFO.

Ergh, more wallet abuse coming I fear... I model the late 80s/early 90s and wanted an appropriate container wagon RTR but I don't know too much about them. Would I be able to mix and match the Freightliner containers and the maritime ones in the same rake or were they strictly kept separate? I'd like to know before I place a preorder!

Welcome to RMWeb Richard. I've been watching your videos for over a year now since I returned to the hobby and have been truly inspired by your work. I've asked for your help on YouTube recently and you've been very helpful. I love the pictures and look forward to seeing your layout develop. I just had one question - I noticed on your videos that it looks like you've widened the track spacing beyond the 2" of the Peco geometry. Considering you're using the Peco Streamline range with very wide curves how come you chose wider track spacing?

Given that Bachmann have a Mk3 body shell in the form of the Class 150 I would stay well away from other Mk3 EMUs/DMUs - Bachmann will release them sooner or later, and they have the clout that a smaller manufacturer doesn't. If you released a Class 313 in NSE though you'd sell me at least 2 Another question from me: would you consider doing other things besides locos/rolling stock? Like a true "00 scale" track (for want of better words), signals or buildings?

(Referring to 00 gauge.) Do you have any intention of producing modern image (80s onwards) models or any larger locos, or will you be sticking to steam/early diesel and 0-4-0s and 0-6-0s? Also will you just be doing locos, or rolling stock as well? (I am aware you'll be responsible for production of FTG's SPA wagon, but I mean any under the DJM brand.)

Absolutely stunning work as always! Just about those 7 segment displays, which colour do you have and what size? I can only find red in 7mm at Maplin, and Green in 14mm from Rapid (which seems a little large)

Leeds is in the same situation. There is only one shop which actually has a Leeds postal code, but it is right in the south of the city. Pretty surprising given it's the UK's 3rd largest city. WHS hasn't even opened a ModelZone section yet and the HobbyCraft seems to be thinning out its stock and doesn't look like it intends to replenish it. I find it hard to believe that Sheffield as the capacity for 4 reasonably stocked model shops and Leeds can barely manage one. I guess the model shop I remember most fondly would be the Beatties behind the old Schofield Centre in Leeds. I still have some of my stock from there with their Beatties stock stickers and prices. I used to HATE going to town with my mum, but all was forgotten when I went upstairs in that store to the model railways section. I don't live in Leeds anymore as I'm studying a 2nd degree in London. But when I go back and visit and go into town, it does still sadden me slightly when I walk past the old site.

Hi Mixy, I noticed something interesting recently and was wondering if there was a way to fix it. When zoomed out, the length of short sections of straight flexi track is displayed on the track, but when you zoom in (and there is more space on the track to display a length) it disappears. Usually one zooms in to get a better appreciation of the detail (including the length of small bits of flexi) so it would be useful to display the length when zoomed in more so than when zoomed out and the text is hard to read because of being so small. Please find some photos below highlighting my point. Thanks for your continued hard work.

the wheel only rests on the rails on one side at a time so it would only increase by the radius on the side touching the rail, not by the diameter of the wheel
