  1. It seems like they have missed out the spacing framework on the tender footplate, this was required on the prototype to allow the loco footplate to be level as dependent on what class of loco the tender was coupled to, I remember building a Martin Finney kit and I think there were parts to ensure you could couple to any class type. David
  2. Me too...........straight boiler, no top feed, cast iron chimney...........maybe a later Bachmann release? The city's always had taper boilers, the Atbaras had parallel boilers when built but were later rebuilt into the City class. David
  3. I think I would still go for the Martin Finney Kit http://website.lineone.net/~cbwesson/GWR%20City.htm Note that the photo shows how City of Truro should look with Indian red frames in as built condition, it has no copper cap chimney sandboxes top feed etc, I would like see CoT in green and black lined out with Great (garter crest) Western on the tender. The current livery and condition annoys me as much as Flying Scotsman with smoke in apple green livery. The Martin Finney 4mm kit is ??96, you needs to get a tender, wheels, and motor plus inside working motion. So you are heading for ??200 before you start it plus it need painting and lining, so in reality the Bachman model maybe is good value for money. David
  4. Interesting choice to model City of Truro, as the locos present condition and livery is only suitable for the preserved era. When built in 1903 with Indian red frames the loco had no top feed, no patched frames, shorter smoke box, no splasher sandboxes and a host of other differences. When it ceased working in 1930 the livery would have been plain green numbered 3717 and coupled to a 3500 gallon tender. Even when running in its first preserved form in 1957 the Indian red was more of an orange shade and the splasher sandboxes were painted red instead of the green it now carries. In fact the double lining the loco now carries is hardly correct as when built it would have had the standard lining orange, black, and orange. David
  5. Not my model but a layout I have been taking photos for a future MRJ, although lacking in depth of field I do like, and will revisit and get a better shot in the future. David
  6. I go with Masokits you need to solder them up but they are cheep and look good, I am not too sure what you mean by working as the Exactoscale are the only ones with a screw you can tighten up. David
