  1. Loudwater and the Wycombe to Maidenhead branch has always been an interest to be, The brickwork on the signal box should be all blue brick rather than red as were most of the GWR type 5 boxes David
  2. I think that that it was a change of ownership as well as moving to Scotland. David
  3. There is a 1938 colour photo of 6106 at Aylesbury with Great Western on the tank sides the top of the tanks apear to be black including the fillers, this is the colour I would have expected to see. David
  4. Never sure if I made it, but it gave me a warm feeling when I had my first article published in MRJ, knowing that it was going into MRJ made me raise my game and push myself to do the best I could. David
  5. Kirsty Allsopp on Location and Suzanna Reid on BBC breakfast in my eyes are rather nice.
  6. Ms Agutter swiming naked in the film Walkabout was a bit of an education after watching the Railway Children! David
  7. refusing people at the door saying the show is invitation only, but allowing people in if they are able to answer selected questions correctly? (up to others to post what the questions may be!)
  8. There were at least 3 types of door the third type being simular or the same as the B17 type, if you look at photos of the preseved 61264 it has this door while 1306 has the most common type, as as Dave states there was also the type with the close spaced hinges David
  9. Have you thought about using the etched 2mm scale Churchward GWR signal box windows and doors avalible through Modelex, you can see the fret on there website. David
  10. I decided to put all the photos I have of Aylesbury station in a album, and found out I have a few hundred! I have got 8 pictures per double page and grouped simular pictures or those taken from the same view point together, its quite interesting to see the changes some very small even over a very small time span, which is quite handy for modelling purposes. We should have our Aylesbury layout at Risex in Febuary, and will bring along the photos for those who are interested, 98% of the track is down and hopefully the platforms will be in too. David
  11. http://www.facebook....&type=1 Another photo taken around the same time, I do like the static grass effect! David
  12. Edgeware Road is 7mm modelled in 1863 and features both broad and standard gauge. As mentioned above Whitchurch Road is 7mm. I am also building Aylesbury in 4mm P4 standards, will have to post some more in progress photos. David
  13. The public footbridge over the line was there since the station opened in 1863 I have the original linen drawing of it, in the 1950s the low bowstring deck was changed for a basic steel braced structure, this was again changed in the 1990s, I think there was also a temporary bridge put in while the Borg walk bridge was built a few years ago. Has any one got any photos of the little structure at the end of the platform by the bridge that was once a signal box, it lasted in to the 1990s David
  14. I have just ordered a Hornby B1, anyway here is 61028 Unseeke at Marlebone. David
  15. Hartwell Sidings used to have an 04 shunter, plus there always seemed to an 08 around the station too. The Risborough MRC club is modelling Aylesbury in the 1950s & 1960s, and I have built quite a few of the buildings, and have a few hundred photos of the station, let me know if you want any other info, or see some of my threads on building the station. David
  16. A P4 set here too please David
  17. Looking at the Dapol wheels the tyres seem much wider than the wheel centres, are these a one bit casting or can the tyres be removed and replaced with P4 tyres alternatively the old types could turned off and new P4 tyres pressed on as the wheel over the Dapol wheel centres. David
  18. Just found the photo of the two Suburbans at Aylesbury behind a N5 tank. it seems the brake third behind the loco is six compartment with a very short brake section, so not the same as the Hornby model, the coach behind seems like a full third with nine compartments but does not seem to be on Gresley bogies, can anyone enlighten me what diagrams these may be. David
  19. I may have to get a few for Aylesbury I am sure I saw in a Steam World a couple of months ago a couple behind an N5 tank at Aylesbury, if anyone has a copy handy and can see if they corrispond the the Hornby item can you let me know. Also if the full brake has the right profile and beading would it be suitble to change to the bogies to the Fox type David
  20. I keep thinking of doing the Airfix 1:24 mossie too, the trouble is I have no idea how accurate the kit is, as I don't have that much info on planes. David
  21. I picked up a plain bearing Bauxite version with spindle buffers too, but its what i required David
  22. Jonny Allen's version of Chuck Berry's Promiced Land David
  23. I am glad it’s not just me who meets these people! I have just remembered another thing that happened a few years back while getting some lunch at Scalefourum. The person in front of me in the queue asked for a plate of chips only to be told by the lady serving we only do chips as part of a main meal ok said the chap looking at the board behind I will have fish and chips then, sorry came the reply we have run out of fish! David
  24. Is it just me or is the world going mad with what sales assistants and waiters say to me. For example today I asked for a cheese sandwich at lunchtime from Greggs, the response I got back was “we can make one for you but it will have to be a cheese and tomato sandwich but we won’t put the tomato in it!†Also a few months ago I was away with work and had to eat in a pub attached to a Premier Inn I ordered the vegetarian pasta and was told for an extra £2 I could have chicken breast with it! Maybe there is some logic in the responses, although they did seem a weird at the time, maybe others have got stories like this that may amuse. David
  25. You have the part of the brake linking the two v hangers the wrong way up it should be the same way as the photo above, if the brake lever is pulled down it would release the brakes rather than putting them on. David
