  2. cant rate Adrian's work highly enough..... very nice chaps the pair of them, too
  3. look forward to seeing this one - i think the upper grey bodyside was somewhat darker on 402 than other grey 37s not sure what the reference colour might be....
  4. some photos added https://www.flickr.com/photos/daveymills/sets/72157647410344341/
  5. some videos here; https://www.flickr.com/photos/daveymills/sets/72157647410344341/with/15192335735/ Dave
  6. An inspirational layout - full of atmosphere and fantastic detail. Watching the Tommies whiz by with the 20s pottering about in the background was great - I shall upload a video later. The catenary was the best I had seen on a layout and together with the bouncing pans, looked completely convincing.
  7. Thanks Nigel Yes I was aware of the nuances between the Digitrax and NCE systems with regards to what is supported for 2- and 4-digit addresses. The decoder is an ESU v3.5 Loksound (fitted to a Heljan Class 40). As you thought, I am not even able to read the long addres of 0032 (or even the short address for that matter). I will though try to assign the CV17,CV18 and CV29 values manually. Plan B would be try the Blast mode programming. regards Dave
  8. Indeed - I programmed a loco with the 4-digit address 0032 using my NCE powercab. Now my layout is using the Digitrax Zephyr Xtra and I cannot select 0032, I can only select 32 but this is the not the same ! I thought (as advised earlier in this thread) to simply just assign a new 4-digit address. However on my programming track I dont seem to be able to do it..... Any ideas ? thanks Dave
  9. hi E&G no offence caused at all ! Many people I speak to don't rate TMC's weathering. It's a little basic in my opinion - that was my point. So if someone compared my weathering to TMC I would not consider it much of a complement. Of course I appreciate other people may have different opinions on TMC. I bought a Bachmann TTA wagon off them once, and it looked like 4-5 quick squirts with an airbrush and that was it. They may have improved over the years. So yes continue to support/rate the forum's contributors, it's one way for us to better ourselves. cheers Dave Edited to add picture of said TTA
  10. comparing to TMC is rather damning with faint praise (IMHO). The standard of JR7F88's weathering is far superior I think.
  11. Bizarrely my employer's internet provider categorizes this website as: The category of this url is: Weapons and bars my access !!! I guess a bit of 4 x 2 could be used as such....
  12. is this a newsletter email ? i cant see owt on their website..apart from 40145 being cancelled
  13. I heard some retailers are swapping the bodies on the blue and green versions. the original chassis for green versions are not plagued by the lube connectivity issues (AFAIK). Were there any bogie/underframe differences between the 1960s and 1970s/80s locos, assuming they had the same braking/boiler specs ? Bogie ends painted red ? cheers D
  14. excellent idea.... but I would perhaps add the caveat in your OP that these are the chip versions as fitted by the factory. For those buying 2nd hand - BEWARE - you can never be sure until you look !
  15. Two new additions to the fleet, courtesy of Dirty Boy Weathering
  16. Heljan lights were notoriously weak with previous models, are 2014's range any better ?
  17. Bullied coaches ? Thompson coaches (I think) I guess you mean more recent Bachmann stock In any case I was just asking....
  18. is it known yet whether these models will have flush glazing ? thanks Dave
  19. nice work on the cl 37. what techniques did you use to achieve the look ? i use washes and can often get a nice finish to bodysides, but can never get the yellow nose ends to look good, they often end up with too heavy a weathering dave
  20. i think the best attempt at weathering wagons of this type i have seen - fantastic job !
  21. over here in france i tried out this liquid mask stuff. it looks like pvc glue and stinks of ammonia however you brush it on and it covers glazing with no misting and is really easy to remove - really effective i dont know if there is some uk equivalent cheers dave
  22. hi may I ask where you source the ETH cables from ? thanks Dave
  23. i think it depends on what livery you intend to do flickr can easily help here for 37505 Transrail I think they were only ever red. However In original railfreight - red, in railfreight metals - black
  24. i couldn't resist one of these either....excellent job was done - but I can take non of the credit for this work myself good luck with yours will be watching this thread with interest cheers Dave
