  1. Sorry for the gap. Spent a week fussing with Magic cards. Hardly worth posting here. In the past week, though, I took on a commission from a friend. He has a kit he wanted painted. This is a kit of a Kaempfer (should be spelled with an umlaut, but I don't feel like finding it.) A 'bad guy' robot from Gundam. This week was priming. There's still a little more to prime. I ran out of primer before I finished tonight's lot. Annoying. I'll pick up more tomorrow night. He wants it in gloss white. This will be lovely. We'll see.
  2. Magnetize the ends of the chain?
  3. There's that. Dart Castings has a couple of options. Whitemetal, too, to add a decent amount of weight to what I'm assuming is a very light wagon.
  4. The GWR had specific wagons for large gears & ship screws. Maybe do a horse dray? I don't know if the GWR would have moved their own drays with a Python or a Loriot.
  5. Looking very nice. Odd question, though; were Pt. Way toads assigned to depots the same as normal toads.
  6. @Mikkel I've not really tried, yet. Not really a high priority project. I just really didn't feel like painting, so I had pulled out this one to build something.

    Scooters 1

@Mikkel These are the same scooters I was working on before. 1/24 scale.
  8. More progress on the 8th Army fellows. Mostly blocking in major colors. Skin left, then washes. If what he has is to be an Enfield revolver, I feel bad for him. Horrible things to shoot. I'd love to shoot the Boys sometime, though. Like I said, skin & wash. Then, bases. I'll get there. We'll see.
  9. Honestly? Any part of Chicago outside the airport is bad roads and high taxes, though nothing on VAT. If you bounce through O'Hare, grab a slice of deep-dish or a Chicago-style hot dog and call it good. Unless you really want to see rotting 'L' trestles.
  10. This seems appropriate here. Also, yes, some Chicagoans do actually sound like this.
  11. I'll add a second vote for blue from a man named Martin. Something off about a rat in green. Looking good so far, though.
  12. I'm still trying to decide on a load for the N-gauge Loriot I have. Have you considered a Scammell trailer? Could be a little different.
  13. Make it double-wide. Should be in gauge, I think?
  14. I was going to suggest that's not unreasonably sized, but I'm American, so...
  15. Again, slow week. Did dig the airbrush out. Some models for a table-top wargame I play, Bolt Action. Cromwell, Firefly, and some North African theater 8th Army. I made further progress on the 8th Army, as well; Blocked in some colors, such as webbing and weapons. I'll probably keep these simple. I can never bring myself to add full attention to wargaming models. Just going to tip over in a crowd. Next week will probably be more with the the Bolt Action minis. We'll see.
  16. Color gets darker the farther away you are. You'll generally want to darken a color for a model. Consider how far away from the model you're supposed to be. If you're 2' from a model, in OO, you're 152' away from the real thing.
  17. I just received a Kato Portram I had ordered; Adorable little thing. Somehow, when I bid on eBay for it, I hadn't noticed the adorable articulated cat motif. I bid on this with the intention of using the bogies for RT Models Lister Autotrucks. But, I just can't ruin such a charming little tram. Oh well. I'll need to keep an eye out for another on the low end of the market. Shame they're out of print, from my knowledge. I probably spent too much on it for breaking it, anyways. It runs, as well!
  18. This thing looks like a Burro on stilts. Unless the 37 isn't particularly tall for a locomotive, that crane has to be barely in gauge.
  19. That book is dangerous, and you should dispose of it.
  20. I had picked up a Cooper Craft GWR diagram V5 'Mink' at my club's swap meet some time back. Decided I would start on it, feeling on-trains but not interested in bringing the iron back out. I didn't get too far in one evening. I set the top-hat bearings in the W-irons, glued an end to the side. I know I need to alter the bracketry on the solebars. Sadly, apparently an accurate V5 isn't possible with just this kit. Pertinent parts for the DCI or II brakes aren't present. Only a Morton brake is supplied. Shame, though I doubt many stateside would notice. I also couldn't find my fishing weights I use as wagon weights, either. I wanted to have the ballast set up before I needed the floor. I'll have to look some other time.
  21. Apologies for the lack of update last week. I was with friends till late. I admittedly haven't done much. I sprayed additional coats of color on the scooters; Decided on green with the Honda. Probably ruined the paint on the Yamaha. Well, I'll (eventually) take a closer look. Other blog will be updated, as the only other modelling I've done is more pertinent there..
