  1. I may have something to contribute here before too long. I picked up a running Hornby 0-4-0 for $5 at a swap meet.
  2. Finally had a chance to play a game with the sci-fi Japanese I finished back in April. Over the course of the game, I was informed that model facing is important. Cue the following; I painted roughly 180 deg. of the base red. Quick & simple. I used Model Master enamel, having found it coats well enough in one go to not waste time on such a simple job. As painting the red took so little time, I started on another gaming model. This is a special model for Sisters of Battle, an army in Warhammer 40k. Some time back, I had built another singular model. I suppose some time over the coming winter I will build the whole of the army. Finally, I built another small Gundam at a friend's house on Sunday; This is an RMS-117B Galbaldy Beta. When I watched the movie this is from, Zeta Gundam: A New Translation, I just thought this thing was cool. Surprisingly detailed kit, too. The shoulders were well executed. I finally looked to Paasche's website. They do sell parts for the VLS still. I didn't jump on them when I looked, though. I didn't remember which tips & needles I had. I'll need to add such to my list. We'll see.

    8th Army 4

Joys of modern injection-molded plastic. Yes, they are about 1/56, though figures for the sake of being figures don't always hold to scale.
  4. Finally got around to painting the bases for my half-squad of Bolt Action 8th Army; Just the one coat. Don't want bare plastic, but I also didn't want to spend two weeks layering color. I mounted the figures and based them, too. All done; I have no idea why the photos are so yellow. Whatever. Maybe a little glib with the sand. If it bothers me, I can pick them clean. Gets them off of my bench, though. Airbrushing is on hold at this point, though. I managed to damage the tip I was using. My one spare tip did not match either needle I have. I haven't encountered Paasche parts in-store in years, either. I guess I'll need to order parts. We'll see.
  5. Marklin do, too. At least two such are present in my local club.
  6. Eventually I'll break my slump. Eventually. The clear on the Heavy Gundam did, in fact, orange peel. I guess I'll need to knock it down. I hate sanding. I sprayed another coat of gloss white on the Kaempfer; I think it's about there. Better be, too. I'm running out of season and gloss white. My airbrush was acting up, too. Drying in the tip. I've never had that before. This is Model Master enamel, too. Ended up wasting half a cup of paint when the thing completely clogged. Frustrating. I may have damaged the nozzle trying to separate it to clean it, too. I need parts...
  7. I took video, too. Patriot in O I think a commuter train, DB. HO-scale German, again commuter, I think. O-gauge T-3
  8. I really should have made a thread.

  18. There you go. Weigh your wagons with gold. Better investment at this point than much anything else.
  19. First of what will be probably several blogs about the layout I visited. I took over a hundred photos, and a couple of videos.
  20. I'm lucky never to have injured myself or anyone else with a lift, nor have I seen truly serious injuries. Boy, though, have I seen some property damage... I love the provender wagon. I've been eyeing the N-gauge offering from Great Western Replicas.
  21. I replaced the filter on my spray booth. Lucked out at a Menard's (sort of a big Halfords, I suppose.) Not only did they have respirator filters in stock, they also had furnace filter material in a roll! A few strokes of a box knife later, I had new filters. With my booth operational again, I sprayed the balance of the Kaempfer body in gloss white; I suppose this was technically 'Classic White.' I had no plain gloss white on hand. The old Boyd Hi Gloss white had solidified when I opened it. Not a perfect job. The second cup of paint started spitting on my. I think I had some drying in the brush. Had to pull the thing down to components to clean it. I don't think I fully cleaned it, either. I've mistreated the old thing. My fault, sadly. I think, when Badger does their 'birthday' specials again, I'll pick one of those up. I finished building the Heavy Gundam I was building for a friend. I have all the foil stickers applied, so I decided to apply a couple of coats of gloss for waterslides; I don't think it was perfect. I'll let it sit for a day or two, see if it settles. Humbrol Gloss Varnish, in case there's anything I should know. When I come back to it, I'll start adding the markings. We'll see.
