  3. Hi Chris I am a 4mm modeller and the figures I had problems with are:- 1361-076 Milkman with crate. He seems fine having glued his leg back on but ordered new one in ant case. 0124-076 Workman with shovel. The shovel end came off when removing from base. Have hopefully glued it back. 0129-076 His saw blade broke in half. Have managed to glue it back 1629-076 Brass Band set. Trombone player lost his slide whilst carefully trying to remove supports. Cornet player on removing last support to instrument suddenly lost the bell from his instrument. Am going to try using fine brass wire to replace trombone slide but again have just ordered replacements 0135-076 Man with sickle. Lost sickle on removing supports. Thinking about this one. 1049-076 Signalman holding tablet pouch. Lost loop. Hoping to replace with wire loop. Not ordered replacement yet. Will get some Delux superglue in case this has some magic property the locktite doesnt. My replacement order with survey discount is in system so hopefully will try again more carefully. I use Tamiya side cutters and scalpels plus tweezers and magnifying light. I have noticed the old red plastic and light grey plastic seem more flexible than the later dark grey plastic so not sure if I need to modify my technique between them. Keep up good work. How about some suitcases and hand trucks like you always see around heritage stations? Regards Ken
  4. Anyone know which flavour od superglue works best when trying to repair damage when removing the supports from figures. I typically tend to lose the end of spades, brooms and my trombone player lost his entire slide in one fell swoop! Even my carpenter lost part of his saw and the milkman lost a foot although I hope my locktite gel glue has avoided him being an amputee! Is there a favoured way of removing the supports? I use a sharp scalpel, pair of sharp side cutters specifically designed for plastic kits as well as a pair of fine tweezers. Oh and this is all done under a lighted magnifying glass on an arm. Thanks Ken
  5. Will these etches and 3D parts be available to purchase? I would buy two sets. Regards Ken
  6. Many thanks for the suggestion of scrap etch from behind. I will try that. I must look up my Wild Swan book on building coaches to see if the issue is addressed there. The Comet kit is a D109 Collett non-corridor Brake 3rd kit W23 which has etched holes as per the example above. Regards
  7. I have been given a Comet coach kit D109 to complete. As the door handle positions have an etched hole and the sides were originally intended to use Airfix/Hornby B set coaches as donor vehicles I presume you are intended to use the plastic moulded recessed door handles with these locations. If you have no donor model and intend to build it as a straight brass coach kit how do those who are much more experienced at this do these handles. The same recessed handles appear on a lot of GWR coaches built in the '30s (eg Centenary stock) so how are they achieved on other manufacturers kits? Does anyone do an after market pack of detailing similar to buying 'T' door handles and the curly style from earlier coaches? Thanks
  8. I hope so too. Still waiting my preorder and biting my tongue regarding those who seem to have ordered and received theirs within the week. Still find the process being followed on these a little strange selling direct before fulfilling all preorders.
  9. I would just like to respond to say I did not cast dispertions on the work ethics or otherwise of the Kernow staff or Post Office. I apologise to all concerned if my comments have been misinterpreted. My comment was about the process being used to dispatch preorders. If there are two groups working at Kernow as advised by another poster, one on day to day orders and another on preorders i hope they keep track of the number in stock of each type so they do not sell out via day to day orders prior to fulfilling all preorders of any one type. I have already bought the 1361 from Kernow and have the Steam Railmotor on order and yes, i did wait the 3 odd years for my 94xx including a Locomotion version so I am fully aware of the Pandemic situation affecting deliveries of new models. I will dutifully await my email advising the version i have ordered has been dispatched while keeping my fingers crossed i am not unlucky falling off the end of any supply chain issues. i fully support all workers and health staff trying to keep an element of normality for us in these trying times and that includes shop and warehouse staff of all retailers.
  10. I know this is down to Kernow and not Model Rail or Rapido but not impressed at the way the orders are being processed and dispatched. A colleague ordered his GWR version on 22nd January 2021. He has been invoiced and received email his model has been dispatched. I ordered mine in July 2020, was called to pay last week and am still waiting to receive a message my model has been dispatched. I rang Kernow as my order online has no status only to be told they have hundreds to ship and to be patient. I would have hoped they would be dealing with them in date order but seems not if my colleague's experience is replicated. As a long time subscrober (over 15 years) I would have hoped to have had better service!
  11. Hi Amanda, I know the quality of your work having purchased several of your other items previously and I am happy to continue to purchase these four and six wheel rotanks with wagon chassis as and when you are able to complete them to the point you are prepared to sell the results of your deliberations. I will, as always, continue to promote your items in the Great Western Study Group Newsletter as being suitable for other members in 4mm to use on their layouts. It seems you are already getting a following for these particular items here and I'm sure when the next Newsletter is published you may have some more. We have members over in Australia so not all your potential sales may require the International element. Unfortunately I do not have the current capability for 3D printing so I will continue to rely on the International Postal service for my items. I hope your workload, whilst remaining highly rewarding financially, does not preclude you continuing with your hobby. Regards Ken Membership Secretary Great Western Study Group
  12. Amanda, These look very good. Hopefully it will not be too long before you make them available to purchase. A mixed train of 4 wheel and 6 wheel Rotanks together with the more normal 6 wheel tank wagons would be extremely interesting on a model railway. The attached are some photos of just such trains from a Steam Days and Heritage Rail magazines plus an HMRS one for prototype inspiration. I wonder if it would be possible to replicate the unloading as a set piece on a model? Just love the road tractor! Regards Ken
  13. If you successfully complete the road trailer are you considering making the 3D prints available to buy? Thanks Ken
