  1. I can help with variety of motive power for the brick yard shunter!! My only kettle is Silver Fox which would look a tad out of place at Crowland...
  2. I wonder of they are picking up loose ballast... I wonder of they are picking up loose ballast...
  3. Its because the resident mechanic was busily destroying the club layout .
  4. It's Broke Jim But Not As We Know It!!........

    1. Metr0Land

      Metr0Land

Always thought it a shame that DeForest Kelly doesn't have a tombstone/plaque saying 'He's Dead Jim But Not As We Know It'

  5. I'm sure when we are at a suitable stage all will be revealed... Until then you will just have to guess my friend
  6. Thanks Again Ben.. It now also releases space for our other project to commence!!
  7. The Lurgie Has Gone!!..... Back to the graft...

  8. So paint dried now and put on the base coat of the grass. You can see I have also levelled up the main platform. Tried to take a photo as well to show the angle and height of the station yard
  9. Iain, theres a blank canvas there at the top missing something !!!!
  10. So we have now levelled up the station yard to the platform using Wilkos Elephant Filler!! and applied a rough paint coat before planting begins!! The road meanders along the platform until its level with the High Street it goes up about 12mm so about 6ft in real terms... Whilst it was drying I thought i should tackle the shipping aspects of the layout, submitted a couple of plans to "Engage" of this very forum for approval and settled on his idea of less is more, my original plan called for enough wood and bracing to build a small shed... However once I had come back to my senses I realised a smaller design would do the job just as well and not bankrupt me in the process!! My wood working skills were pretty poor when I started modelling a few years back, but they are improving with each layout and build..yes there is an unwanted hole or two in places but they have been caulked...
  11. I could not bring myself to rustify it as its a perfect working model .... However I like your thought there David... What a brilliant idea.. Off to find a lowmac!
  12. Tarting up the yard, adding bits and pieces... Not sure about the old kettle being left to rust though!!
  13. Theyre very bright I'll give you that, but they are cut down gaugemaster ones, need to paint them and add another resistor I think
  14. Lazy evening!! So just some new buffers to save the platform and some buffer lamps!
  15. Well where would we be without my evening update eh? So all the wiring done now for the new signals and they work as required... The cr signals yard lamp I built doesnt work so is destined for the bin and a fully built one will be procured!! The depot now has all its security fencing from Ancorton Models installed and the barbed wire fitted.. Have begun to add the station yard to bring it level with the rear of the platform, a slope access road can be seen moving up to a larger area. Wiring wise i've also added DCC connections and the switches to turn lights off etc under the board, so now only one kettle lead is required to power everything.. The transformers have been hidden away out of inquisitive finger reach too!! It has its first scrutiny this weekend at our NGS meet so i'm trying to get as much done as I can without rushing..
  16. One last pic. Had some workers idling about so thought they would look better tending to the new ballast and signal apparatus! This way i will leave the new ballast un weathered!
  17. Hi all, today some more bits arrived... A CR Signals double yard lamp kit to replace the one I broke, difficulty rating 8/10 i will in future buy the ready made kits again!! I started by making up the station approach signals which let the diver know which platform they will arrive at, then fitted the up platform starter and laid a langley dummy signal to mark the signal upgrades.. Also the security fencing has begun to be added along with some ex lyddle end diesel tanks and a walkway to get down from a loco.. Got a stuck pm so will need to sort that when I wire all the signals in before the weekend!
  18. The engineers have been busy, they've taken over some land, concreted it over and begun to put up some security fencing!!
  19. There are some plans afoot on the signalling side and I have thought of putting in some rodding ( I have the rods but no idea where I could purchase all the other little parts that I would need!)...... I shall get on with fitting a colour light Starter signal to the through platform...(part of the 1960's signalling upgrade, however Tormouth box has been retained and is being upgraded to modern standards as it now controls the entire block all the way from main spur South of Exeter, through the smaller intermediate stations as far as the Terminus at Chudleigh Balterton.....As technology advances on the WR and Tormouth being a 30 lever frame it made sense that it became the main "Power Box" and the old intermediate boxes have been locked out and closed down. So essentially a little cameo scene on the platform with be a couple of engineers decommissioning the old semaphore/working on the new signal...
  20. One big whoop whoop!! And another smaller success to satisfy myself that I could do it!!! I thought it would be excellent if Iains outside signalbox light could really work!!!
  21. I also saw the same type of shed in Devon at Kingswear this year I believe.... It still needs painting and weathering down, I'll move it a bit further forward I think. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingswear_railway_station#mediaviewer/File:Kingswear_train_shed.jpg
  22. Cheers Iain, part built whilst working last weekend!! Oh and your letter is in the first class post...
  23. That was a stroke of genius Ben, looking better now.. However I think maybe i would require two kits to get a decent length... Two car 101 and St Ives Bay Belle shown for length!
  24. So i have been plodding along with bits and pieces... Firstly trying for a better transition from cliff to grass as the layout bends round the viaduct Then decided that "Rule One" would apply to the depot as i tried a couple of different buildings but kept going back to the one I first purchased! So this is it stuck down and I have begun the yard and a few bushes Finally test fitting the Overall roof... Undecided though as I have a custom kibri hack that may take its place..
  25. Morning all... Sitting here at work today so thought I'd kit bash a roof structure!! . Its a little smaller than anticipated so may need to bash two or three more!! On another note I almost came close to posting a video of the funicular running, however due to an unforseen human error (ie me!!) it went up and then down but didnt stop so as it went down the other car shot up the slope and ripped out its wiring!! Back to the drawing board I think...
