  1. Meanwhile, about half a mile away, a six year old me didn't know what he was missing. Unless I was at school, in which case I was about 100m away.
  2. Hi all I am currently doing some finishing off of an O Scale brake van and some re dating of a Dapol 12t van .I have managed to sort everything except the TOPS codes. Could anyone tell me the appropriate font and lettering size I need? I need to do a CAP and VVV... from what I've seen of the prices for general alphabets and number of V's I need, it could get expensive... Ken 8~)
  3. Bang goes my plan to turn one into a commuter-motor-rail-home-camping-coach...
  4. I just want a 40122/D200 in it's final green with yellow ends livery
  5. I've had to use Ctrl-v to paste here
  6. Finally got pictures up of my 08 with wipers by Giles. Not quote brave enough to glue the blades to the windows though...
  7. Jeez... if the IC225's on the ECML are a guide, those will get manky, quickly...
  8. None of this explains the abomination that is Virgin Trains East Coast livery... it's like they want the dirt to show up

  10. Someday. I will finish this Slaters brake van

  11. Someday. I will finish this Slaters brake van

  12. just made a quick survey of the peco website. it would appear that the concrete sleeper and HO ones (which seem to have perhaps a more US geometry) have the metal guardrails. So it's probably an age thing.
  13. Funnily enough I just spent a couple of days doing the York/Shildon double. York, so much stuff to see, Big sheds, full of trains, lockers so I didn't have to haul my bag around, the odd comfy seat to collapse in (yay), model railway not running, some of the locos were lacking info panels, FS parked outside out of view, no clock on the viewing gallery, not much to see in the south yard (boo) Shildon, big shed full of trains with trains outside, well stocked model shop, exhibits with simple laminated A4 card attached with information (yay), some exhibits lacking the laminated card, kid's play area next to the aforementioned snowplough related video meant I couldn't hear it (boo). All things being equal, a good two days!
  14. I think the cab light comes on too. I believe that's what the switch on the PCB is for.
  15. according to pauliebanger further up the thread you need a 21pin, non-MTC decoder with more than five functions. I believe otherwise you need to do some rewiring on the PCB
  16. it's easy to have ideas like that when you aren't the one who actually has to do it!
  17. I would love to see the 303 at Boness in rolling condition. Run it as a push-pull set for special occasions.
  18. So railway modelling is switching to DCC from DC as we are told it is driving the loco rather than 'driving the track'. Meanwhile the real thing seems to be going the other way...
  19. 4875uF ready to go, 3 25V capcapitors, 2x2200uf and one 475uf in parallel.
  20. Also visible is my highly technical solution to mitigating the risk of electrical contact betwixt chip and PCB. Specifically, I cut a bit of plastic from the packet the speaker came in, avoiding insulating tape glue residue
  21. I also got some 2200uf capacitors to make a stay alive with. Not sure I have the aim to solder onto the PCB, or the courage to solder onto the sound chip though
