  1. Thanks Jerry! I can only spray outside with the airbrush so the weather at the moment is optimal for getting the airbrush out! Enjoying the superb work you’re doing. Kind regards, Will
  2. Nice work Jack - I told you you could do it Keep up the good work sir, Will
  3. Really nice work on that mate! I think it’s quite a nice livery that - looks good on the 150. Passengers next? Kind regards, Will
  4. Penbits bogies progress from this weekend. Bolsters are complete and I’ve started on modifying the drivetrains. Hopefully after a weeks more work they should be nearly there. Hope everyone is keeping well! Kind regards, Will
  5. Thanks for the advice! I think that may be this weeks task after sorting the bogies with some of those nice wheels you provided me with! Thanks Nick - have you got a link to the 73s cylinders? Any photos of the guards would be great to see! Kind regards, Will
  6. A quick evening update from this evening, subframes all but complete and bolsters started: I think I’m getting there! Kind regards, Will
  7. That is such a superb idea. I really wish I’d have done that now! Instead I think I’m going to be using @The Fatadder solution of scraping away the material till the laserglaze fits. Nothing is ever simple in this model railway world eh! Will
  8. Thanks Rich - I’ve also realised how difficult it is to fit the glazing as I haven’t taken enough material out of the roof. Have you got any tips of how to fit it he windows? I definitely think it’s worth the effort albeit a long painful process! Kind regards, Will
  9. A bit more progress on the 37 bogies this evening. I had a nice package from Shapeways arrive this afternoon, new brake cylinders. The Bachmann ones just don’t quite do it for me so I needed to find a replacement. Detail associates ones were recommended but I couldn’t find any in the UK, the same story with the spare class 50 ones I couldn’t seem to get hold of either. I found these ones on Shapeways and they’re a pretty good match I think. They’re HO but look very close size wise. I’ve had to chop out a bit of the arm and then glue it back together to make the actuator fit - picture below. I’ve also made a bit more progress on the brass sprung frames: New brake cylinders on the cosmetic bogies: Hope everyone is keeping well. Kind regards, Will
  10. Thanks - that’s what I ended up going for, although I wouldn’t mind an 038 if anyone has one going! Kind regards, Will
  11. Thanks Will that’s very kind. The £1.99 I spent on the plan was definitely worth it! Is GER on the cards then?! Not sure what will take preference the 37 bogies or the station... Kind regards, Will
  12. Thanks Will - I’m looking forward to the challenge! Subframes assembled this evening: Need a bit of cleaning up with a needle file but pretty pleased so far. Kind regards, Will
  13. Making a start today on the Penbits class 37 sprung bogies for 37114: Will try and document progress as I go. Kind regards, Will
  14. Evening all, I had the majority of the bits arrive for my station building yesterday, which I duly assembled. Jason Johnson who designed and cut the building had done an amazing job based on the plans for Takeley. I think it gives the layout a nice Eastern Region feel! A few more bits need adding, including the other roofs, drainpipes and a canopy then it’ll be on to painting. I’ve also made some progress on the platforms, which are an LCUT creative kit, with peco platform edging topped with plasticard and Scale Model scenery platform coping. A few shots of the work from this weekend: Also a few video clips from this evenings running session: Hopefully some more progress on the station over the next few weeks. I’ve also had a set of Penbits sprung bogies arrive for one of my Bachmann 37s - looking forward to starting on them this week. Hope everyone is staying safe during these challenging times! Kind regards, Will
  15. Nice work Jerry! 60065 is superb! Keep up the great work. Will
  16. Hi Russ, any chance you can shrink it down for me please? Thanks in advance, Will
  17. Hi Ross, It was specifically Bachmann 37s in original DRS. Thanks, Will
  18. Thanks for the suggestion Ian - an interesting idea. Would there not be a gap where the tap isn’t if that makes sense? In my head I’m not sure it would sit flush with the structure if that makes sense although happy to be proven wrong! I used the deluxe speed bond which goes off after 5 minutes so don’t have to wait long for the plasticard to be glued to the laser cut structure! Thanks Jeremy. Annoying indeed but I only bought one sheet so I’ve only got myself to blame! I’m assuming that’s for your new P4 project? Looking forward to seeing that if so! Yep it’ll be weathered down, going to follow @RBE techniques for the buff ballast. My plan is to get the extension trackwork done and sprayed over the winter then next spring I can weather it all in one hit (that’s the plan at least!). Thanks for your kind words and continued interest. Kind regards, Will
  19. Oh wow Jerry 036 is lovely! Top work sir, one that’s been on my list for a while to do. Whoever that’s for is a very lucky individual! Keep up the good work! Will
  20. Following a productive morning on 37218, sand back and first round of priming, I’ve managed to get a good few hours on the warehouse for the back corner of the layout that I’ve had waiting to go since the start of the year. A quick pic of 218 following the coat of primer (more on my workbench thread): First off I glued the laser cut structure together (thanks to @DaveClass47 from Dean Park for running me off an additional kit) with some deluxe speed bond making a nice rigid structure. Following the glue going off I cut the South East Finecast brick to the correct height and glued that onto the face of the building. Between the brick and corrugated section there’s usually a strip of metal, which I have recreated with plasticard strip. I used liquid poly to glue it to the plasticard below, with lolly sticks being used to hold it in place and flush: I’ve now ran out of corrugated sheet, so will order some more to finish off the left hand side and the roof section. Pretty pleased with how this is looking, albeit a load of details still need adding! A few shots of it below with 37698: Hopefully some more progress will be made this week. Hope everyone is staying safe and well! Kind regards, Will
  21. A quick update on 37218 from this weekend. First off I’ve added the Precision Decals 3D printed air horns following their arrival yesterday. These are really nice items and look much better than the originals (albeit I’ve fitted them slightly wonky which has been since rectified!) I’ve given the windscreen/roof fan the first coat of primer, in the natural light: Time for the cycle of sanding/filling/priming to begin! Kind regards, Will
  22. Thanks Jules. That’s why I wanted to model the wipac 37/0 - as you say it’s very rarely modelled. I’m going for the earlier DRS livery, I’ve sourced the transfers already from the guys at Rainbow Railways - superb service. I’m also looking at improving the bogies on this and 114 so we’ll see how that goes! Kind regards, Will
  23. Nice work Simon, just been catching up with the thread. It’s been nice to see some videos on Facebook of the layout as well! The DRS 37 looks great, I love the effect you’ve got by reducing the gap between the body and the chassis - very effective! Something I’m going to do on my 4mm ones I think. Keep up the good work! Will
  24. Work on what will be 37218 has continued today on a very productive day. I spent my lunch hour filing back the windscreens and making the cuts ready for the etches. Following a large session on the workbench this evening 218 now has the Shawplan reinforced windscreens glued, filled and sanded back at both ends, which I’m really pleased with. The difference over the base model is really noticeable: I’ve also added the Extreme Etchings roof fan grille, which is a work of art: Next up is more filling and sanding till the join isn’t noticeable, as well as mods to the fuel tank and removing the side plate (I’m really not looking forward to doing that!) Kind regards, Will
