Hello Just a quick posting as I am off out to an SVR Branh meeting, but read with interest your blog....I am a volunteer on the Severn Valley Railway , based at Arley where our time period is mid-late 1930's and we have used dark / light stone / maroon / white and black standard colours....will look forward to reading your future blogs, there are many fine sites.....the GWR society being one to google.....but always remember never become too 'hung up' on getting the correct shades of this and that.....our station along with many on the GWR network were all too ready to use whatever was 'at the back of the paint shed' if something needed protection...whether it was 'right' or not.....especially if you were out in the sticks where no one noticed! I know 'thinking' is a dangerous thing....especially when it concerns that huge vacuous space that lies between my ears......however I have never been too comfortable with the way that my goods traffic accesses the yard head shunt by using the same route as the locals into the station,,,,,,so I have mapped out, before commencing to lay track an alternative plan that hives off the goods traffic into the yard from off the relief.......comments please would be appreciated as always and amendments recommended.......Cheers guys Bob

Great to hear you had a good day riding the cushions, it was a beautiful day too for working outside on the gardens at Arley. it can be rather 'inclement' sometimes, but it is fun in all weathers as long as it provides passengers and visitors with a good day out!

Instead of the usual drive over to Arley for volunteering duties this Thursday on the station maintenance / gardening team...decided to take advantage of the southbound (up) service, it was a cracking morning, sunny and quite a bit of preparation work underway with three in steam loco's plus two charters, so five in total, almost a 'gala',,,,,there's always time and great pleasure to watch the activity beforehand, here (my favourite loco) 2857 was being coaled and watered in readiness for service, an obligatory ' toasted, bacon and sausage sandwich, is always a must to round off a perfect view! Understand that '6990' Whitherslack Hall' is to remain with us (SVR) for the next two weekend first off Bridgnorth services....should be good! Have a great weekend everyone...BobM
