  1. In A Big Country - Big Country
  2. Hi all, I am leaning towards the three point option at the moment and will proceed gently with that scenario. Regards always Bob
  3. Hi Lez.... Please go ahead and place on ebay as I am not quite ready now for it, as always I appreciate your kindness. Regards always Bob
  4. Afternoon guys, Have just paid a lovely visit to Footplate Models in Kidder., where I have purchased a very nice 08 shutter, yes I know it’s a diesel but this fits in with my intended early 60’s mixed, the dmu will come next. Also bought a new three way point as I am as yet uncertain what final track layout to use, as this will indeed say me a few inches and hope the derail risk won’t occur? Regards always, Bob
  5. Evening guys.... Just musing and considering alternative track layouts here for the diesel stabling roads... Using a three way point will inevitably save a little space, however I am concerned with respect to the potential derailing which sometimes occurs using these, so contemplating using short length points to create the same layout and loosing the catch point? Having compared two alternatives, I now have a preference, but as always your comments would be appreciated. Regards Bob
  6. Have completed the survey.... Hope the answers will assist in noting general trends within the hobby? Regards to all Bob
  7. Evening Guys, I hope that everyone is keeping well? I am so sorry it has been a while since my last posting, but continuing health problems since I 'short circuited' last summer have dogged my return to full 'bill paying' employment and the pace of life, work on both the 'big (SVR) railway' and the layout having to take a back seat. However, work on all has not completely ceased and the therapy of doing so it good in the darker winter evenings. So I have, as my layout is loosely based around the late 50's early 60's, begun the planning of my 'token', (deep breath) diesel area, which is designed to accommodate a two / possibly three car DMU, diesel shunter and one main larger loco?, The sidings/ head shunt is situated to the north of the steam MPD but within sight of each other, using a three way point to save space which I hope looks okay, the middle road to be the stabling for the DMU. Here's what I intend to set out, these are broken/ spent points and track to get the layout okay in my head. Stay safe guys please, I need you! Regards always Bob
  8. I Don't Know What I'm Gonna Do - Bright Light Bright Light aka Rod Thomas
  9. Although we as a railway will not be operating service trains tomorrow, SVR volunteers will be observing the Remembrance Day national silence at 11am Regards always Bob
  10. Sad but plans to attend Warley have been scuppered by the political games being played by ASLEF.
  11. A sad state of affairs......ordinary folk yet again being used as pawns in a political vs union game.... I've decided to give up..... Stay safe all Bob
  12. I recall that winter too...I kept weather records for nearly 25 years, including that night, here at home i recorded -18.5C Observed 'diamond dust' over my Koi pond... Bob
  13. Evening All, Whilst we were in the throws of erecting 'Christmas' at Arley, there was the comforting distraction of Mayflower, who is a guest with us on 'The Valley' until mid-week, out on steam test.... ..and equally pleasant after the rain, there was a cheerful sight over the village.... Keep safe guys Regards Bob
  14. Evening all, A message to say that as before, the layout remains safe and secure, although restoration work has halted upon it, due to continued personal health concerns and funding, however volunteer colleagues at the Station have offered to store this at a location closer to Arley, where its eventual display home is intended to be. Will let you know further information as and when the situation develops. In the meantime, stay safe all. Regards always Bob

  17. Evening all, Just a posting of images showing (hopefully) the developing turntable, coaling stage and engine shed area.....slowly getting back into the layout, both a 'therapy' and to while away the increasingly darker evenings.... will post further as 'we' progress.....everything on Cambrian Street may not be 'top notch' or skilled modelling but it's 'keeping me of the streets too'....! Stay safe guys, Regards always Bob
  18. Arms Of Another - Bright Light Bright Light
  19. Evening.....Hope all are well....? Just one small step, but progress non the less, have initially 'offered up' the back screen along the engine shed and MPD area. Seems already to have made a huge aesthetic difference just by masking off the 'cliff edge' of the baseboard and will screen the required intended cassette area. Regards always Bob
  20. Evening guys.... Thank you for all the kind comments, much appreciated and motivating...! Hopefully it is a positive sign, but the past two evenings returning home after I have been out on my two and a half mile constitutional exercise walk around the village, I have come back and completed half an hour 'cork removal' work from the baseboards, developing the turntable / MPD area. Things 'looking up'.....! Regards always Bob
  21. Hi Thank you.....Yes I am getting there now.....true get tired quicker and muscle aches after exercise but feeling much brighter, took 18 days to get consecutive negative LFT's....strange virus...... Cheers Bob
  22. At one time Covid wrecked my blood pressure levels which ‘tanked’ to 63/45, to say I was lightheaded was a understatement! Bob
  23. Thanks guys, Yes I am finding Covid difficult to shift, keeps making me so tired quickly, seeks out your vulnerabilities! LFT are returning extremely faint T lines almost non existent but just feels like a residual head cold now after the main symptoms have abated and a nose like I’ve been ‘snorting’ sherbet! Bob
  24. Hi All, Just to say that the layout remains safe, personal health matters centred around my earlier heart attack, recovery issues and more recently a Covid infection has complicated matters and ‘stalled’ the rebuilding plans somewhat for a bit, however still here and hopefully things can progressing again in the not too distant future. Regards to all Bob
