  3. Evening guys. Hope all are well.... Whilst continuing to look at various techniques to form up platforms came across these guys....any thoughts or experiences....(have also posted this on platform building forum page for info and comments).... https://www.cd3dmodelmaking.co.uk/platforms Regards as always... Bob
  4. Evening guys... Does anyone have any experience of using this method, or have comments....only just seen this site...? https://www.cd3dmodelmaking.co.uk/platforms Regards as always.... Bob
  5. Just a few further views...... Looking across the signal box and beyond to the sidings and platform 5 where the autocoach sits....the end of the platform hopes to mirror old snow hill shown here to shave the corner off the curve to fit.....however this intended to be flat ended with spear top fence for passenger protection The buffer stops of platform 5 and access to 4 / 3 and 2 also the stop ends of goods siding and headshunt Main platform 1 Goods arriving into headshunt... With the arrangement of the platform and points, there is intended to be (as there is no requirement for) no ramps....so flat ended platforms with spear top fencing enviasaged Regards as always Bob
  6. Evening Guys..... Hope you're all well....? Who'd have thought we seemingly get to the end of BST so quickly.....? Anyway thought I'd bring you up to speed on what is happening on the progress of Cambrian Street.....mainly remains centred on wiring at the moment, the toggle switches arrived today so soon I'll be moving on to wiring the isolated sections.....how long that will take (with my rate of progress) is anyone's guess.... However, there is also hopefully some firming up on the way the station will look as I am concentrating on this area firstly to maintain the momentum of any modelling......so here are a selection of images of the station and goods area, along with my reasoning behind the way it is laid out......as always I'd appreciate comments and advice...... The goods headshunt and sidings along with the signal box which controls the whole area..... and the 'kip' for the guards van.. Looking in the other direction....the private and local coal sidings.....also the wagons in the road leading to where the goods yard will be sited.....a goods siding and runaround...also in the far distance the siding which'll house the pilot loco.... The General Station (buffer stop ends) from the left platforms 5 with red autocoach / 4 / 3 / 2 and 1 The thinking being that an incoming service into the bi-directional main platform 1 after coming to a halt.....the loco uncouples and pulls forwards to the buffers....the return service hauled by another loco which couples on to the front and departs away....the main platform accommodates a Hall and five coaches, with a further loco at buffers....or six coaches and a single loco to depart away.... Platforms 2/ 3 / 4 with auto train in 5 Over view of all... General views..... The autocoach departing through the local / relief road The autocoach entering the local platform May have got some images out of order here but may edit if necessary..... Regards as always.... Bob

  11. Hi Guys,,,,, Whilst I am continuing the wiring up regime, ordered the switches today for the isolated section, so soon the next phase will begin....... The following is copied from a further topic I began,,,(Platform Building Techniques)... Have been thinking ( I know that's a dangerous thing for me as not only does it hurt but also wearz the batteries out)..... but continuing to research the differing techniques on forming up platforms, wondered whether combining the use of both 18mm mdf for straight runs of the platform joined to ( to two layers of ) 9mm plasterboard to form the curved or ramp sections The plasterboard technique shown here with the straight mdf too.... from 7mins in also Comments guys please.... Regards as always. Bob.

  16. Hi Andy..... Thanks for the ino..... Exploring all the avenues for platform building...... like the idea of building my own as the platforms on cambrian Street....do have a slight smooth curve on the mains and have the intention to form them from either 18mm mdf or even I have seen it and been suggested using two layers of 9mm plasterboard , which although a bit messy to initially when cutting, will be lighter in nature and can be glued together, finally screwed easily down to the baseboard, then sealed with a pva topping to be painted and given an edge with suitable material.....any thoughts guys....? I must say I was quite alarmed at first when I scan read your suggestion to cut your nipples off when using Peco edges...then I realised on rereading you meant the plastic sprue ....phew what a relief mate...! Regards as always... Bob
  17. Hi Andy....Super work throughout.....Are you using MDF, Chipboard or similar form your platforms...? Unsure (still) as the best way forwards when I get around (whenever that may be) to form mine...? Cheers and regards as always... Bob
