  1. During the last few days most preserved railways announced that they were closing for the duration. Both the Bluebell and Seaton Tramway resisted the trend but by last night had bowed to the inevitable.

On the Main Line nearly all the railtours were cancelled but amazingly West Coast Railways trip from Glasgow to Perth today is running with the ECS currently running a few minutes late according to Realtime Trains. I cannot believe that Network Rail has not done something to stop such services when all the regular services are being reduced.

I wonder if if our Ocado order will arrive tomorrow and what will be in it. Hopefully the beer and the wine!

    Stay well

I hate bringing people bad news but I am sure I saw that Ocado had stopped all deliveries but having checked the Ocardo site it says that existing orders for Saturday and Sunday will be made. Good luck. Stay safe.

EDIT:- Just looked again and they are going to contact those with orders next week. Not sure why. They are not accepting new customers which make sense in the present situation.

81C wins, in my book - having played the Trump Card.  A bigger Dick there never was.  What's more scary is that people vote for him.....

The really scary thing is that political parties think these people are suitable to be leaders. What does that say about those parties?

  4. Only two departures from Sheffield Park with no service to East Grinstead so have to use a car to get there and I think I read somewhere that the idea was that groups who arrived would travel in a compartment with no strangers being allowed to join them. Not sure that I like the reasoning but they do seem to have thought carefully about how to make it possible to run.

Cramlington today, with photos taken between May 1988 and May 1989.

Cramlington, as most of you know, is on the ECML between Newcastle and Morpeth.

Must have been somewhat unpleasent if you were standing on the wrong platform as the dust came off the freight!

Very nice photo which should give some people some good ideas for weathering.

  6. Sadly the Mid Hants have today announced that all services are cancelled until the end of May.

I was looking forward to Guarding my second Real Ale Train of the year but the safety of staff, volunteers and customers has to be far more important than anything else.

I look forward to seeing all my friends on the railway as soon as we are open again and wish everyone all the very best.

I haven't been able to find any pasta, tinned tomatoes or loo roll at any of my local shops but got a tip off yesterday that one of them expects to have all three available at opening time today. My ever kind and thoughtful wife decided it was a job for me while she would sleep in and avoid the crowd!

Well I got to the store at opening time. No loo roll but got the pasta and tinned tomatoes. As the song goes "two out of three ain't bad"!

Well, for most of my railway career, I did have quite a lot to do with the running of the railways in Cornwall and went down there a lot to drink signalmen's tea on operational business.

First rule of ALL railways! Put the kettle on and wash enough mugs for those present to have a tea or coffee.

  9. I joined on 30 January 2008 according to my profile and I have no way of knowing if that is correct or the date of a move to new software!

I sometimes wonder how much good modelling time has been lost by all of us over the years due to RMweb but I am sure that is made up by the amount of help and inspiration we get from the site, It would be interesting to know how much hair Andy would have if he hadn't started the site. I am sure that at times he wishes he had hair to pull out!

Here's to another 15 years of railway modelling fun helped by RMweb.

Apologies if we've had this one and I missed it.

To all you car lovers out there ...

    Help needed!!!!

I’ve recently bought a 1989 Toyota import. Upon arrival it won’t start, just coughs and splutters when I turn the key, as if it’s starved of air. I’ve tried various things including installing fresh toilet roll, all to no avail. Any ideas on how I could cure the Corolla virus????

People have been shot for better jokes than that! Groan button needed urgently!

As much as people like to think human error can be eliminated by advances in software, I think they're wrong. Human error will always exist and is a factor that can't really be planned for.

The fact that I once ripped a pan off a brand new 319 bringing it out of the then new Selhurst inspection shed has absolutely nothing to do with it... <_<

Thinking you can eliminate human error by software is a total fallacy. It just moves the human error from the front line staff to the programmer of the software and those testing the software.
