I well remember the closure of all London Underground ticket offices. The public were told that it would mean more staff around stations. For approximately a year that was true but once nearly 1000 staff had taken voluntary severance my local stations went from having a Supervisor, a Ticket Office clerk and a gate line member of staff to being run by one member of staff who can be anywhere on the station doing their duties but how does a member of the public know where the staff are when they need help?

So come on you can't just tick 'agree' and leave it there. What is your agreeing with. Is it the fever pitched excitement or the watching of the spuds? Come on we need answers- preferably not on a postcard please.
I can give you a definite maybe, possibly!
Is that good enough?
No postcards were damaged in the writing of this message although lots of electrons may have been disturbed.

My ginger cat hated all other cats but I introduced him to an abandoned kitten when he was about 9 years old. I had the kitten in my arms and called Sandy who came to me. I made a fuss of Sandy, then the kitten and then Sandy. I then put the kitten down and made a fuss of both of them while they inspected each other. Sandy put his paw over the kittens neck and washed the kitten from head to tail. Sandy then went to the kitchen and asked my mother for food. The kitten followed and they ate out of the same bowl with Sandy allowing the kitten to be a real little pig with the food. By the evening they were sleeping together with Sandy being very protective of his new friend.
If you introduce them while making it clear you love them it should work out OK but you have to let the older cat make the decision.

Hi Jim,
Yep, there's at least one 'Yellow-Yellow' Shunt at Bristol, a couple of Swindon, one at Chessington South and a couple more around the country. Banned for new works since 2002.
Mechanical Yellow Shunts are very rare, the only one I've seen is on the Mid Hants at Medstead!
They are way over used on Model Railways, as everyone assumes you use for signalling into a Headshunt or Private Line, which is true, but they were always fairly rare.
Simon
I think you will find another at Ropley in the loco yard on the Mid Hants.

I have to report that Raindrop has been sentenced to a week in "kitty jail". I am not going to be around and decided to board her. I will be curious as to how she will react when I pick her up.
If she is anything like my cats she will ignore you until food has been provided at least twice. Good luck.

And we all thought you were going to stay away from trains!

Jim relaxes away from trains on trains! He just can't keep away. Just the way I like to live my life.

Very tempted to say yes please but my wife would hit the roof if I got anything else for my layout which has not had any work done for the last two years! My problem is that I hate wiring a layout but if I don't do the wiring I can't do my favourite bit of running trains. I hope you find a good home for them.

Sounds like EWR are building a new station in a middle of a field!
The Metropolitan Railway made good money by doing just that along most of their route going out of London. EWR just have to buy plenty of fields to get houses built on that will supply the station with lots of passengers.

Sounds as though your employer got their money's worth out of you (and some) today. Hope you have a good rest and no can you just! A dead phone would probably help!

The third set today is once again on the London Tilbury and Southend at Laindon and Pistea, at the west and east ends of Basildon. Pitsea is of course the junction where the Tilbury loop and the direct line to Southend meet at the eastern end of the line via Tilbury.

Those photos bring back memories having lived in Basildon from July 1980 until mid 1994 and used Pitsea station from July 1980 to February 1992 to get to work in the city.

Last weekend there was a vintage bus rally at Dereham with a loop service running between Hardingham and County School and a Pacer shuttle between Hardingham and Dereham, I'll be posting photos from the day in the Preservation section when I've finished editing them. The service is suspended between Kimberley Park - Wymondham due to rotten bridge timbers which alone cost £40k and may not be replaced in time for running this season, so you may have a while longer to wait...
I also have been led to believe that it could be next year before they can run the full length of the line which is great pity but I keep checking the MNR website and look forward to paying the line a visit once they have completed the works.

Sadly, no trains at Kimberley Park or Wymondham Abbey stations due to engineering works on the Mid Norfolk Railway. As soon as trains are running the full length of the line I will make my first visit to the MNR for far too long.

Normally the magazines don't review their own products and the others would not want to encourage their customers to buy a rival magazine so it is very rare for a magazine product to be reviewed by any magazine.

No sign of her, so we assume they have been left to the care of the "Crazy cat people".
Anyway they soon settled in and luckily are old enough for solid food, though still only paste. The other residents have all accepted them, which is good. They are not worried about the dogs at all, despite not being much bigger than their paws.
Pandora is beautiful!
Photos of the bundles of joy, please!

Can’t see TT lasting without some small tank engines. I think that once Simon goes they may quietly cut their losses.
The original Triang TT was pulled after the director whose pet project it was died. Looks like a similar fate could be in store for TT120 although I hope Simon will get to enjoy his retirement.

I think there is still a Police Box by the Earl's Court Road exit to Earl's Court station, it was certainly there when I worked there (retired May 2016).
