My fault; I called in on Tuesday.

Might have known...!!!

Came away with 2 locos.....25043 green weathered, also the green Standard 4MT, 80135, both chipped at home tonight and running a dream on my layout. Also a childs Marklin Eurostar set........some Christmas day fun with the nearly 3 year old grandchild.

Plenty of folk coming and going in the shop too.

Been in today lots of goodies, including a large collection of quality secondhand 00 stock.

 

And Mikes filled up the sweet tin.

Sweet tin was looking the worse for ware at lunchtime today.!!

I knew just how to put a smile on my face though, and it wasn't eating sweets.

I remember seeing one of the D600s at Penzance in their Cornwall days, not sure when, I remember being disappointed that it was not a D800 or D1000 so I want a 1950s  Green one for my 1957-62 WR stud, but it is getting beyond a joke waiting since 2012.

How about the September 2010 announcement from Kernow of Bulleid Diesel 10203......over 6 years now.

I seem to remember being told that " I wont die in a ditch waiting" when I questioned this a few years ago....and I'm pleased to announce I haven't....yet.

Last I heard from Kernow a couple of years back, was they were still to visit York to look out the drawings.

I'm not excited any longer over this project, and suspect it has not progressed at all since its first announcement......stake in the ground I suspect...and I sort of understand the reasons behind that to some degree.

But 6 years on.???

First time I have seen the thread on your "Sidings" model layout. What a little cracker..!!

Excellent bit of modelling and loved the videos.

The answer is to ease your gradients....there is a very simple solution....get a shed 3 times as big.!!

Very much enjoyed Abbotswood at DEMU exbn yesterday, made lots of return visits and every time there was action in abundance....sound locos adding greatly to the interest.

But for me, it is the operation that stands out. Realistic slow running freights, acceleration and deceleration rates spot on. And even the last wagon disappearing into the fiddle yard out of view at the same slow speed.

Well done Phil, and also your team who remain anonymous behind the curtains.

Thanks too for the ECoS demo and letting me have a go too.

They must be building a lot of jet engines to need that much fuel for testing

Yes I have always thought its a lot of fuel for just testing.......but I am informed that the testing is rigorous as you might expect, and the engines are run many hours at high throttle settings, massive usage of jet fuel.

Somewhat similar to a Class  40 but noisier and without the whistle as far as I can remember.The Class 40 diesel power block was made by English Electric and was a derivative of the one pioneered in both the twins and 10201/2/3.Thank you Jamie...yes the dinosaurs are still out there.They worked together with the' twins 'on the WCML from the mid 50's..even hauling The Royal Scot single handed.I have one distinct memory of one thundering and clattering into the old Wolverhampton High Level on a Euston -Birmingham -Wolverhampton train ( a regular diagram,Camden 1B for one or for one of the twins ) A quick turnaround and then straight back to Euston.Made a change from the Bushbury  (3B ) Jubilees.

Ah Yes Ian......The Royal Scot it was for me too......Crewe Station with my Gran, when I was about 8 (born '48), there was a crescendo of noise arrived behind a wall........it was 10203 north bound.....what a noise. I remember asking the driver , who was stood in the doorway, if he could close the door so that I could read the number.

I haven't got a clue what they sounded like, just damn noisy, it was my first ever sighting of a diesel.!!!

She was a fantastic Gran too, regularly taking me on the bus to the station for a few hours mostly on a Saturday, I can blame her for encouraging me into the hobby.....bless her.

These are the regular Thursday Grangemouth to Derby jet fuel delivery to Rolls Royce Derby Aero engine plant.

I am informed that this Colas service has ceased as of April 7th, anyone confirm.?

Wonder what the reasons are, and how the fuel will be delivered in future.?

I'm really pleased to hear that TOUCHCAB will continue, I have used it now for about 5 years and love it.

A big vote of thanks must go to Jens, and now to Mike and Karl for taking up the reins.

I don't do Facebook, Twitter etc, so will look forward to any updates posted here or on the Touchcab website.

Sorry to hear Jens. that you have decided to stop development of TouchCab, sadly it comes at a time when ESU have released an update for the ECoS and having downloaded it on to my ECoS it no longer works correctly with TouchCab so the end of an era as it was the best way to operate the layout and caused a lot of interest, sadly there is nothing on the marker to match in terms of quality, design and ease of use.

As a committed Touchcab user, I am very sorry to hear it is no longer available to new users.

I have it installed on my iPhone, iPod and my wifes iPad ( but don't tell her ).....and rarely use anything else to operate my layout with.

When they were first announced earlier in the year, way before the 2016 range announcement, Hattons put a placeholder product on the website, this is most likely what Andy was referring to.

This is the email Ed 66 Plant is referring to.

There is no doubt in my mind, it is asking for confusion and alarm.!!!!

Hattons maybe need re think how they word this sort of email in future.

Is it still available for iPad?

Hi John,

For 3 or 4 years I have had Touchcab on my iPhone and iPod........but about 6 weeks ago I downloded it to my wifes iPad (schhhhhhhh) but she doesn't know yet.

All three work fine.

I understand that Touchcab is no longer supported by its inventor Jens Vesterdahl..........I believe it is no longer available to purchase from iTunes, But if you have already purchased it and it is in your iTunes library, then like me, you can download it to another device, iPad, iPod etc., from iTunes.

The thing that stands out to me is the handrails, and they do seem to stand out but they look like they can be rectified easily if need be.

 

The locos lamps look wonderfull, I hope they will be a spare that Dapol will do.

Glad you like the photos CM,,,,,,,,,the model for me is excellent, and a great start for an RTR modeller.......and there is room for the more expert amongst us to do a bit of fettling.

I shall get it weathered in due course.

Here are a few photos of my Hornby Mag / Dapol Brake Tender .

I picked up my Brake Tender at the show yesterday........for me, it looks brilliant.......and couldn't give a monkeys if its a bit out in the detail, cos I certainly wouldn't know.

It looks like a Brake Tender, and its already running on my layout...................nice model.

Just had an email from Key Publishing with pre-ordering details for the 3 green versions at the 'pre-registered' price of £22.99. Those with a pre-register code can also present the code at the Hornby Magazine stand at Warley this weekend to purchase their tender(s).

 

Blue one (the one I want) is still 'Coming Soon', so I'll hang fire for the moment.

Just felt a sudden pain in the wallet pocket.

Is it not too early for a pain, that comes when we are down to 3 months to go normally.

I think "twinge" might be more appropriate at the 12 month stage......followed by an ache at 6 months.
