  1. Thanks for the coverage, Jim. Sounds like a very full and eventful day. I imagine you can do without too many days like that one.

On the contrary.....we are hoping he has lots more days like this.......Class 50's on the Sinfin tanks.........only stuff you could dream of until Jims involved....then we get pics of it all too.

A wonderful set of photos Jim....this has to be one the best, most informative threads in this section of RMweb...we are all very grateful Jim.

  2. Hi Andy,

A wonderful milestone.......we are indebted to you for all the time and effort you put into RMweb in those early years.......what a magnificent success its turned out to be.

I for one, would have been very much poorer in my knowledge of Railway Modelling without it.

I too remember the conversation we had before you started RMweb.....it went something like " Hi Bob, do you think there is a need for a really good Railway Modelling website"........having got a very positive response from me...off you went, and here we are 10 years on.

A big thankyou Andy.....heres to the next ten years.

  3. That 56 is not a bad one, it struggles to build amps now and again but when it gets going its pretty rapid

After 4 weeks of class 70s on the coal it was certainly different getting on a 56 again, got the sinfin again next week as well as a couple of claydon jn iobs and possibly the logs to carlisle!

    Hi Jim,

Thanks for stopping in the loop at Uttoxeter......as you know and saw, I was able to get down to the crossing and get a quick video of your re start.

Yes, it was the coal train you were following that was probably holding you up.

Maybe see you next week then.?

  4. When are we due another update on this project from Oxford Rail.....and do we know if they are exhibiting at Ally Pally in a few weeks, following from their appearance at Glasgow recently.

Edit...just checked the exhibitor list at Ally Pally....no Oxford Rail it seems. Why would they go all the way to Glasgow.....and not to Ally Pally in London.......very odd.?? Their choice I suppose.

  5. ''Don't forget....you are in big trouble if you get a phone call though.....!!!''

Not at all Bob, there is a setting in Touchcab for that too! You can decide if you want the phone to ring while driving trains or not.

Welcome to the world of Touchcab Jim. You won't go back to pressing buttons! Kev.

I didnt know that Kev....................I'll check it out.

    Thanks

    Bob

  6. That's great Jim.

Does the router have to be connected to the Internet?

Also can you still use the Lenz handset aswell as the iPod?

    Cheers

    Bob

When my pals come round for a play...there are two LH100 controllers in action, along with my iphone, my ipod and my wifes ipad ( but only if she's not candy crushing)....so they are all working together at the same time.

Important to remember that you still need the LH100 to alter or set up CV values....Touchcab doesnt do that bit.

You can as Jim says use the home router....but I found it difficult to get Touchcab to recognise it, and struggled for a few weeks getting set up, until I was told to buy a TPlink Router from Argos at £20.  As soon as I put that in place under the layout, and switched on, it was instantly recognised.

Wonderful system......it great to be wireless, no restrictions walking around the layout.  When Big Jim came over for a play with my Touchcab about a month ago, I could tell he was impressed.  And we all know that Jim doesnt let the grass grow under his feet....and a few weeks on he is now a fully fledged Touchcab user....and loving it.

I see he got a good price on the 23151 unit from Germany too..............well done Jim......you got set up for not too much money in the end.   The Touchcab app was only £5 last time I checked.

Dont forget....you are in big trouble if you get a phone call though.....!!!

    Bob.

  7. Just had an update from Hattons now expected between April and June, beginning to loose interest now, any further delays and I will cancel my pre order.

If you lose interest after delays.......then you wont be getting many more locos in future.

C'mon man..!!!! Where's your staying power.!!!!!  Man up...!!!! :jester:

You wanna try 10203 from Kernow.....you may lose the will to live on that one.

  9. Here I am again.................if you are following this saga.....it gets even better.

As you can see the item was returned to me because it couldnt be delivered, and was not collected from the city link hub by the guy who bought it....but I told the city link guy on the 7 th Nov. I dont want it back....so he took it away again.

Yes...............you guessed it..............its back again....today the 26th November it was returned to me again....City Link saying they have no option but return it to me or dispose of it.

I did email this guy to say it had been returned the first time....but I'm not going to bother this time......I have it back on  a pallette in our business unit.

What am I to do......I need the space desparately in the unit.

What are my legal options..??????    HELP...!!!!!! :jester:  :jester:  :jester:

    Bob

    And Finally...................

After emailing this guy, he finally came back to me and apologised..!!!!!!

He sent out another courier on Thursday last week............it did get collected ..........and the guy has subsequently text me to say he has received it, and he is very happy......along with another apology.

Here endeth the saga............................I do hope you have all enjoyed following this story over the last few months.   I understand that the T shirt Screen Printing equipment I sold him, will be on its way to the Gambia in a container this coming Monday.   So perhaps I was just storing it for him until his container was ready for shipping..?????

  11. Don't some Eastern cultures use a base-12 counting system rather than base-10? (12 coming from a single hand with 4 fingers with 3 segments each).

Some Western cultures did too once upon a time...

    Remember 12 pence in a shilling................eggs in a dozen...............12 inches in a foot.

  12. .

As someone else noted, I think it is time for a new subforum in the "Products and Trade" section for Oxford Rail.

    .

Judging by the number of posts on this single Oxford Rail thread, I think you may be right........as Newbryford said a while back, it wont be long before we have an Oxford Rail Wishlist thread.

Having just read the thread and brought myself up to speed.......there have been times when the discussion has been wandering off the Adams Radial topic.
