Most pubs had a hanging sign with an appropriate picture/ logo and the owning brewery on it, usually at the top (or 'free house' instead of a brewery). The pub name at the bottom. Or style to suit. . . .
Postcard completed 👍

Nowt going on at Aston on Clun? Been a while since we’ve seen any layout action Rob.

I saw a post from Rob @MrWolf on another topic over the weekend. Sounds like he is up to his armpits in multiple 50 year old motorbike components. . . . .

Quite a bit more to do.
750mm of 1300mm (57%) completed over the weekend.
Listened to a couple of episodes of Young Again with Kirsty Young on Radio 4 via BBC Sounds whilst doing this. Various people talk about their lives and what advice they would give their younger selves. Some very thought provoking programmes.

Very nice @KNP.
I think the signalman has taken the impending blackout regulations a bit too literally though. Might be why those trains always have to wait at that pesky signal on the viaduct? 🤔
Writing that has prompted recollection of a BR rule about footplate staff having to walk to the box if they were held unduly long at a signal ? Others on here might be able to confirm whether I am remembering correctly. And whether that rule existed on the GWR in 1938.

It is a shame it won't be at exhibitions anymore, but the idea of 'at home' days is a great idea.
As someone who has not exhibited a layout, I admire all the effort that goes into building, transporting maintaining and manning a large exhibition layout. It is really appreciated that others can see, and get inspiration from, those modellers who make that commitment.
I've been fortunate to see Lime Street at least twice when you've brought it across to the Northeast.
Good luck with your new arrangement 👍

Wow, just discovered this thread and have enjoyed reading through it. I love the railway in the landscape feeling you have captured. Look forward to seeing the progress.
Stephen
I've just finished reading through as well👍. Very nice layout.

Plastruct girder between storage and loading conveyor. This is painted black and rust with green weathering powder flicked onto the wet paint
Lovely modelling of unloved infrastructure.
I do like this sort of non-railway detail. It adds so much to the realism of a scene.

The building in the previous post will be at dock level, behind the viaduct wall. To the right of the viaduct wall, the other buildings on the backscene will be at railway level but separated from the sidings by a sleeper fence. Just had a change of activity to have a go at the fence.
Every 100mm has an extended post to be dropped into the baseboard. Quite a bit more to do.

Creekside building behind the viaduct. Currently just blue-tacked on to get a feel. There will be a viaduct wall to add, so the building will probably go a bit higher to compensate.
The line where I chopped the roof down is visible...

chinchilla dust
Hi Paul @Worsdell forever.
I've heard there are two types of this chinchilla dust, one that is 'natural' and one that is a type of clay, which doesn't react well with pva.
Not sure if I've heard right, but I have avoided buying until I can clarify. Which sort/ make have you used?
(Ps can you get it at the pet supplies opposite Whitby station ? I nearly went in a few weeks ago and then thought this could be a long conversation about nothing to do with rodents 🤣)

Loriot Y and Warwell with a bit of plant machinery
Hi Clive
That's a nice little scene. Who makes the yellow plant? They look quite detailed. Are they kits, or ready to roll?

I was testing, guv'nor - and there's no point testing if you don't wheedle out the bits that don't work...
Almost precisely what an HMRI Inspector said to me once many moons ago when they inspected New Works. History records he couldn't break it as we got the necessary letter permitting trains to run 👍

Have taken the paper slicer to the roof and adjusted. I feel this looks more like it. Helped having drawn the tile lines 😊
Should have said that, as a creekside building it will sit at Dock level. This will be behind the viaduct section, with some space to the right of it, as in the prototype for land side vehicles to load/ unload. So part of what I have drawn of this building will be hidden.
In my world, ground then rises to the other buildings that will sit at roughly track level beyond the carriage sidings. I'm thinking a sleeper boundary fence to the right of the viaduct wall will partly obscure them. Will hopefully get to mock this up in the not too distant future.

Ooo. Are you going to put a picture on of the extended siding by the water tower?? Can't beat a nice bit of Permanent Way. . . . .

Those last 2 photo angles do it for me, photoshop them into sepia and you've invented time travel between you !
I'm afraid I don't have the technology to do that. Happy for someone else to have a go. I'm not sure if @KNP or @Gedward follow this topic ?
If they didn't before, I've just gently knocked on their doors. . . . 👋

That was a swift update in a complicated font George. Looking good. How have you created the lettering?
