  1. hi Stephen, I used a NCE powercab in program mode to alter the cv.
  2. It's installed with a DCC concepts Buddha and I've tried both the stay alive it comes with and their latest large stayalive.
  3. Thanks Nigel and Stephen, cv 29 adjusted and this has stopped the loco reversing when power is disconnected. But now strangely there is no stay-alive whats so ever ?? . Running was still erratic but no shorting out anywhere on the chassis, brakes or sand pipes, so i took the bogie wheels off and it runs as it should, but no stay-alive. I've checked the chassis area around the bogie wheels but cannot see any rubbing or where it might be catching, then it occurred to me that the spring might be to strong for the bogie, so I removed it and again running was as it should be, so it seems there where a few faults with this one. I've adjusted the spring and refitted the bogie and it now runs ok but I need to find out why the stay-alive is not working.
  4. Hi, can any one help out with a fault I have on a New/ Used O gauge San Cheng Black Five. The Model was purchased as a used model but looks brand new with no signs of track use. I ran the loco on a rolling road for 30 mins in both directions on DC power. Locomotive ran smooth at all speeds. I then fitted a DCC decoder and ran it again on the rolling road with smooth running again but when it ran on the layout it would stop start frequently and some times just stop dead. I have cleaned the track-work and run other locomotives over the same sections without any faults, so I assumed the back five was at fault. I then re cleaned the wheels and checked the plunger pickups which are fitted to the 6 drive wheels, I also added a large stay alive in the hope that it would help, but although running has improved there is still the odd stutter and I've noticed that when I test the stay alive by lifting the loco off the track, the loco stops and then suddenly reverses for a few seconds at max speed. I have fitted 3 different decoders and changed the stay-alive with the same results. Has anyone else had this problem?
