  1. Quick update regarding my P2 TTS, got it back from Hornby last week and to my horror it was just same despite Hornby fitting a new motor, it still Buzzes like a crazy Bee when running so its gone straight back to them but this time I have told them unless they get it running the way you would expect a Hornby to run I don't want it back because this problem has been ongoing since last October.
  2. I gave up with my P2 and sent it back to Hornby for repair, the motor was so noisy and the speed kept going up and down and despite running it is as per instructions and changing some CVs as recommended by Hornby it just wasn`t getting any better, Good news they have been on the phone today to say that the Motor was one of a faulty batch they received and they have changed the motor so hopefully when it returns it will run the way you would expect from a Hornby. So fingers crossed ,,,,
  3. Hi Keith, I am fairly sure that these CV are specific to this type of Hornby Decoder as I have never seen them on any other type either, so if you change the CV s that you mention it might do the trick as the ones that I have changed have certainly improved things no end and the loco runs much better, is the motor noisy on the model you have ? Ken.
  4. Keith, CV 151 is P1, parameter of motor algorithm 1, & CV 152 is 11, parameter of motor algorithm 1, this is all explained in CV notes (Motor Control) in the Sound Decoder Manual supplied with the Loco, I hope that this helps explain, Ken.
  5. Since I spoke to Hornby last week and changed CV151 & 152 The P2 is running much better the start up is still slightly sticky but not bad really if you weren't previously aware of it you would probably never notice, the only real problem now is the slight Buzz from the motor when its running which is a real shame, if it wasn't for the problems with the motor the P2 would have been a outstanding model but I still hold out some hope that it will quiet down even further as it runs in more. But I still cant see why Hornby spoilt what would have been a outstanding model for the sake of a few pounds.
  6. Just been in touch with Hornby by phone this morning, they asked me to change CV 151 to 255, CV 152 to 1, and this has improved the acceleration during start up no end and now much smoother but still slight stuttering but much improved and runs altogether better well worth a try for others with similar problems. Motor still slightly noisy but hoping will quieten down as it runs in more, has anyone else found improvements as the motor runs in.
  7. I bought a clan a couple of years ago and all the bits were included in the detail bag, hope you find yours it makes all the difference,,
  8. Thanks to the people who posted on here who support my point of view regarding the rather poor quality motor Hornby have fitted to this model, In my personnel opinion Hornby must be aware of the situation out in the field regarding the problems that many people are having with this model and really should be trying to address the problem through their support network. I for one would have been happy to pay more for a better quality motor as with most of their front line models.
  9. Does anyone know if Hornby have made any sort of announcement or statement of intent regarding the performance or replacement of this cheap and nasty motor that they have fitted to this otherwise very good model engine.
  10. At last have eventually got my hands on a TTS version thanks to TMC and have to say that straight out of the box it runs very well maybe a little tight but is freeing up all the time it runs, but no problems running over points or curves only one slight problem if you fit the drain cock pipes the front pony truck wheels will foul on the pipe, the sound is ok but not as good as the more established manufacturers the sound beat changes fairly often even when the Loco is running at one speed however for the price it is very good and is perfectly acceptable all in all a vey good model and I would certainly recommend it.
