Oh dear - I'm sure the intention was good - but what an absolute mess has been made of this one!!!
-
'...some 'minor' damage to the cab...'
Something of an understatement but at least if you look at the 4th picture he has very kindly added an arrow to show the 'minor' damage in case you missed it!
-
A lot of money for a kit built loco that looks like it was put together with a sledgehammer!!
-
This is really clever (check all the photos) - on one side it is a Hall but turn it around to face the other way it becomes a Manor

Another day, another disappointment looming and another shouter, albeit a bit more quietly than usual.
'...THIS IS WORTH MORE THAN I AM SELLING FOR...'
This chap should have run for parliament in last week's election - he's a genius!
-
'All run and tested...' - how does that work then when they have not yet been built??
(good price though)
-
It probably seemed like a really good idea when he brought the aerosol can of weathering paint!
A prime example of how to totally ruin a really nice loco in a matter of minutes! What a shame - what an expensive mistake!.
-
Not really sure exactly what market there is for these at this price - but to be honest I wouldn't even buy them if they were available now for just £5 - rare or not!
Apart from which, when was Thomas the Tank engine painted red and with LMS on the side and when did he become a 2-6-2? It looks to me as if somebody has paid a very large sum of money for these in the past and now realises the error of their ways and wants to try and recoup their monies - good luck!!

Our friend strikes again!
Apparently this is 'kit built'! If so, then it appears to have been very carefully dismantled again in order to make it easier to fit back in the box. Brilliant!!!
-
Looks more like an old Triang/Hornby item....I may be wrong mind you!!
Why put a Portescap in that? It does look to be one in there!
It's like keeping the family jewels in your kitchen bin!
-
At what point in time is it no longer accurate to describe a 1960's built Triang Hornby Jinty with a missing emblem, worn lining and a damaged box as being 'new'.
A look at his other items shows he has some 'brand new' Airfix and mainline coaches too!
Do you think he might be a time traveller?
-
He also has "scrapyard" versions of Mallard, Winston Churchill and and Evening Star for sale and has actually sold a City of Truro. Where does he get these from? If they sell for £17.99 he can't be making much profit? Perhaps they're the old Airfix kits (now Dapol) made up...
Would be really good if you were building a diorama entitled ' .....after the gas explosion at the NRM'!!
-
'Wonderful addition to any railway layout.' Please tell me I'm not the only one who gets annoyed by this phrase, or any phrase to that effect?
Totally agree with you on that one Matt - hardly a wonderful addition to your layout if you model modern image N gauge!
-
Oh dear - yet another streamlined Coronation pacific in LMS livery in 'scrapyard condition'! Give me strength!!
-
I know that the SECR converted one of Wainwright's C class locos into a saddle tank but I never knew they converted another one of the class into one of these!!
-
The £250 starter is a none starter for me. The image doesn't show the number #067d on it so it must be a fake.
It might be written on with a white pencil!
-
Free 'click & collect' available on this one!!
Just as well really - if it was sent in the post it would surely turn back into an un-built kit!!
-
That looks like a practise attempt of the old saw the lady in half trick.
Can things get worse?
Watch this space as I imagine they can.
Bernard
Yes they can Bernard!
From the same seller - a completely worthless, badly broken old Triang Princess body on even more dilapidated and worthless Triang Princess chassis with no bogies or coupling rods.
In it's un-tampered state just a worthless piece of junk that would look simply great in a suitable dustbin!
But simply slap on a coat of orange paint and write 'Reserved' on in white ink and hey presto - as if by magic it's worth at least £25 unless you get caught in a bidding war.
To refer to this item as utter crap would just simply be an insult to real utter crap
Can things get even worse? I wait with interest and deep anxiety!
-
Or you could make tea with them, I suppose ....?
PS used them for years until I could afford 'real' ballast
I built my first layout as a kid using dried tea leaves as ballast - I thought it looked wonderful.
A couple of weeks later I went back in the garage to do some more work on it and the ballast was covered with a fine mist of green mould which gradually grew bigger and greener over the next few days so I had to rip it all up!!
I never used dried tea leaves again!
-
Box 'slightly tired' - DMU absolutely f+++++d!
-
Reckon you could have paid someone to build one for less. Really was just plain bidding fever
It would be amusing if Hornby now announce in the autumn that they are releasing a model of the Bulleid 4-SUB for £160
-
How to wreck a really decent model!

'Kit built' - err no!
'Nicely Weathered' - you are having a laugh!
'Would look great in your collection' - yeah right,
I would be too ashamed to even put this one in the bin in case the dustbin-men saw it!!
-
He's got a Lima Class 33 Deltic also.
A Lima Class 33 - that'll be a Cromptic then

Probably the worst example from the Mary Shelley school of Railway Modelling seen so far!!
And a partridge in a pear tree!!

Surely the kindest thing to do would be to just push it into a turntable pit and to then fill it in
That said I don't know how it would move under its own power as there is nothing connecting the cylinders to the driving wheels!!
