  1. Out of interest, is this project still waiting for a production slot?
  2. Does anyone know if a sound version of the Farish 37 is planned at all?
  3. I also saw this in MR and came on here to see if I could see a bit more of the layout - absolutely brilliant, really inspirational work in the space and further encourages me to try something similar where I can run trains in a Pennine/Peaks landscape. So much so that I built a basic baseboard last night after work! I'll be very happy if I get anywhere close to this.
  4. Thanks both - as it happens I did get some bogies from the NGS and I have mounted them using 3.5mm width screws and a single 4mm washer (as procured from B&Q) and the wagons are running well.
  5. I am looking to add some (fairly generic) bogies to a resin cast wagon in N gauge - I think the best way to do this likely with some aftermarket bogies and a self tapping screw for the bogies pivot. Can anyone point me in the best direction for where to buy an effective combination of bogies and appropriate diameter screws? This is my first time venturing into rolling stock construction and assume this a well trodden path so would appreciate any pointers.
  6. I've also had a look - none of them actually seem to be a match? http://www.gaugemaster.com/item_details.asp?code=FA222547&style=&strType=&Mcode=Faller+222547 http://www.gaugemaster.com/item_details.asp?code=FA222548&style=&strType=&Mcode=Faller+222548 http://www.gaugemaster.com/item_details.asp?code=FA222550&style=&strType=&Mcode=Faller+222550
  7. Agree - any body have any idea if those extensions can be bought from Faller? (I'm going for the look in the above picture!)
  8. See picture courtesy of Faller - those are not 5.7cm pillars:
  9. The N Faller Landwasser Viaduct kit (https://www.faller.de/App/WebObjects/XSeMIPS.woa/cms/page/pid.14.17.89/agid.1128.1197.1259/atid.14921/lg.en/ecm.at/Landwasser-Viaduct-set.html) quotes a viaduct height of 5.7cm - but the Faller pictures show piers that are clearly far in excess of this height. Given this, extending the piers seems necessary to deliver the required 'visual drama' - I was expecting to see a pier extension kit listed for the kit but cannot see one? Has anyone used the kit and is able to shed any light and confirm the height/has successfully extended the piers?
  10. Is there any update on the ETA of the heavily weathered versions (eg: 3299)?
  11. Those following this thread may be interested to know that the May 2018 edition of Rail Express contains a good article, Northwich ICI Traffic, that touches on many of the topics in this thread, including main traffic flows etc. The same edition also has a feature on the ICI hoppers and a review of the recent Hatton's model by our very own Paul Harrison.
  12. Looking great! Will be interested to see weathered samples if they get sent through too.
  13. Does anyone know if the the IWA Cargowaggon vans worked through to Italy on international freight trains?
  14. Are there any of the reviews of the Lo.Co. models? What's their reputation like? I would be interested but they are very expensive for what is (to me at least) a mechanism of unknown reliability.
  15. Seconded both on the fantastic standard of modelling by Giulio and as another modeller lamenting the lack support for Italian prototypes in N. Inspired by holidaying on the Ligurian coast and the Ventimiglia-Genova line, 10 years ago I began a (stillborn) project to model the single line through Sanremo in N. I got as far as the baseboards before realising that the options in Italian N were minimal to nil (probably shoudl have realised sooner!). A real shame as the ability of N to depict railways in the landscape would work well with so many Italian scenes - and a little frustrating given the wealth of support for German/Austrian/Swiss prototypes. But, Italian N has improved with a trickle of rolling stock from Fleischmann - FS branded Eaos gondola, the odd piggyback wagon and Shimmns wagon. PIRATA have also commissioned the Eurofirma coaches in XMPR livery from Fleischmann (currently on their way to me). This has tempted me to revive my hope of modelling the Ligurian coast in N, albeit on a much reduced scale. Ben - if Revolution don't think that commissioning and selling UK electrics is challenging enough I'd happily support an E656/E444R project in N... Failing that I think Del Prado locomotives of the world body + TomyTec chassis is the way forward for the time being!
  16. Thanks for the updates Dave - pleased that the hoppers are making steady progress and looking forward to seeing the next stage in due course.
  17. Very impressed by the work on this model! Can't wait to see the finished layout
  18. Looking forward to a modern 8F in N - just need some N gauge ICI hoppers now...
  19. Really inspirational layout done to a great standard - I'm in the process of starting something similar in concept and will be very glad if it looks this good! Can I ask how the inset track/concrete apron was done?
  20. Just want to thank Dave for the regular updates - delighted to see these move ever closer to production. I have 9 on pre-order and could certainly be tempted to add more - will they be available to buy from Hattons off the shelf after they have been released? Really looking forward to seeing the finished articles!
  21. Indeed! Actually, I'm not (yet) modelling the BP wagons - just interested in them (I'm modelling the wagons that ran to British Salt (Middlewich) and ICI Salt (Folly Lane)
  22. Thanks all - the wagons were higher and longer although the Lima PGAs still can be successfully modified - one approach is to mate two different wagons to make a single wagon of the right length.
  23. I'm currently modifying some old Lima PGA wagons to represent the Procor built salt specific PGA wagons that operated flows from Folly Lane and Middlewich. As part of my search for suitable donor wagons I've noticed some Lima PGAs branded 'BP Chemicals - Bulk Salt' which appear to have a prototype basis (see: http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/bpchemicalpga). Can anyone tell me about the BP Chemicals salt traffic? It appears it only operated 1971-76 but I'd be interested to know if it lasted longer and the main sites that it ran between. Grateful for any input!
  24. These look great - as an N gauge modeller can you share any insight on how this was achieved? Was it a complete scratchbuild and what was the basis for the hopper body?
