  1. Hard standing area was made with Das modelling clay and scribed with a paintbrush that had its bristles removed to create a longer cobble shape.
  2. Good work so far, treat yourself to a can of Strongbow Dark Fruits as a reward.
  3. I do recommend them. Not sure how it'll last long term but perfect for a quick start and an easy win which was just what I needed.
  4. I made a name sign for the factory. Named after my late grandfather with the year of his birth. Retaining walls in with coping stones. Bit of weathering.
  5. I wanted the blend the backscene into the model so went with an ultra low relief terraced houses. Again using my works CAD I drew around the Peco houses and scaled them up and printed in layers with brick and paper tiles to build depth. A small earth bank and retaining wall will get to the track level.
  6. Thank you. A friend described my backscene as being like a Lowry painting which I thought was very complimentary. Yes it's odd how we remember things in different ways.
  7. Rather then use the same tired old backscene I used CAD which I use for my day job to alter the Peco townscene to make it look even more busy and industrial. Extra factories and chimneys inserted in and a rather menacing sky. Why are model railways set in glorious summer when a large part of the year the weather is generally either wet or certainly overcast and dull.
  8. Hi All, From looking at old photographs, it appeals that street scenes and railway goods yards of the Victorian, Edwardian and interwar years had a large quantity of horse drawn commercial vehicles. Is there any readily available suppliers of horse drawn vehicles in 4mm/1ft, 1:72, 1:76, OO/HO? I have the Slaters 4A23 Horse Drawn Goods Delivery Dray which is a good kit but seems hard to get hold of. The Dart Castings range looks good. Are there any others that are suitable and reasonably priced to fill out a busy yard scene?
  9. I originally wanted a rural scene but with the crammed in nature of the scene due to the size I changed to an industrial look. The Scale Model Scenery low relief factory cut down with a cardboard packaging tube covered in brick paper fills this corner nicely.
  10. Close up of the scenic blocking bridge, Peco product with brick paper lined abutment.
