  4. Hi Daniel, The MRH Acrylic painting guide has a cross reference table of the old Floquil Colours to the Vallejo paints. Its a free download if you sign up at the site (basically - just join the forum). I'm not a CSX modeller so I can't say for sure that the Floquil CSX colors are for that particular scheme. In your picture the paint does look a bit faded, particularly the yellow. Hope this helps Andrew

  11. Hi John, No, trap/catch points are not used in the Canada or the US. We use "derails". There are a few types and are usually located beyond the clearance point (so a derailed car wouldn't foul the points when it came to rest). Here 's a picture of one from the Nolan Company. Hope this helps Andrew

  18. Hi Dave, there is no real quick and easy, one click way cutting out the background. I took advantage to the straight lines and used the polygon selection tool. You can also set the selection to add to or remove from a previous selection to build up a bigger selection. That way you don't have to try to get it in one go (you can also save selections). Once you have the selection you can use the Refine Edge (or Select and Mask as it is now called) tool to feather or move the selection edge. Just a bit of feather to soften the edge helps get rid of the sharp edge. The Phlearn youtube channel has some good free tutorials about selections and masks as well. Also the keyboard shortcuts for the tools are well worth learning. Hope this helps. Regards, Andrew
  19. Hi Westener, The wide shot photo in my post is one of the raw unphotshopped, unstacked photos. In this case though, I think it tells a better story if I hid the bricks with the trees from the other side of the model. These are the same models on a different day looking from the other side with blue card for the sky behind the module. Its just focus stacked. Andrew
  20. pH, I would have thought that Nelson would have a quiet zone by now. I stayed at a hotel at Lake Louise and the CP main was 80 yards from my room - much quieter with the quiet zone, but you could hear the horns blowing from a few miles away, followed by the gentle rumble of GE's, seacans and hoppers. Nice view of "The Mall" though! Andrew
  21. Sometimes you just get lucky and the trees actually start to look like they are part of a forest. Andrew
