  2. Many moons ago I started a thread on another page and have only just came across this title. I started Aviemore around two years ago and have gathered loads of books and photographic reference material. If anyone would like to add any local information or quirky bits to add then that would be great. I am also going to have to work out how to incorporate banking locos on dcc. scenery has been started and will be finished by the time it has its first exhibition outing next year. I shall try and attach a link to my other thread on the layout topics page.
  3. Small update.... started playing with the static grass and finishing off the river. Not happy with the bridge supports now into attempt three. Once the road is in and the old bridge I can finally put all the trees in etc. The station has now been painted ready for sourcing the drain pipes.
  4. Little update as I have many areas in the go depending my on drying time and some unsuccessful outcomes. The station is ready for drainpipes once some areas are touched up and painting is finished. Station area has been started. One of the hardest areas is working on each board individually as lack of space does not allow this until closer to finishing. Hope you enjoy the photos.
  5. Small update now working on individual boards each time due to lack of space. Weathered the track then going to start ballasting now the platform edges are down. Looking forward to the replacement station buildings.
  6. Well Aviemore is finally up and running again with new boards track work and all wired up with dcc concepts point motors. This is all set up using jmri much to the credit of my good friend terry helping to get back to a higher standard than I got too. I would have taken years to get to this without this much needed help. This has left me with more time to get the buildings right and ready to start planning the scenery. The only tweek will be platform 3 on the island as the buildings over run too much so either look at a small move with the track or see how it goes once getting the height of the platform in.
  7. Great news I will certainly be ordering a couple. Dave keep up the good work.
  8. The station build is ready to start
  9. David I have just found your layout and I am very impressed. you have got the highland feel just right and hope I can get my layout looking like the location it is set in. Keep up the good work and love the weathering to your locos and stock. kind regards Neil
  10. Hopefully west gate was well received at Ely model clubs exhibition here are some shots from yesterday.
  11. Aviemore loco shed is now 99% complete after finally getting 20 mins to put in all the windows. This is going to look fantastic once placed on the revamped layout.
  12. Hi bill Yes I have had to dismiss this but I will still incorporate the WH Smith building and I have had to adapt the loading siding on the other side too
  13. Hello scottystich thankyou , I sourced the plans of the shed online and had the measurements roughly checked whilst visiting on one of my many to aviemore. This was then sent of and done as a commission for me which has come out very well.
  14. I always feel sorry for those individuals who have little time or money to spend on there model layouts. Well it looks like my time has come as through work family etc. I also have got disheartened to completing my layout. Thankfully a good friend has offered to help me get so far. Planning a layout on a real location has advantages and disadvantages especially when you are trying to explain to others how it should be but my time has come when any suggestions would be good. The layout worked before to a point but the ends needed work and so it has been extended. trying to get the curve into the platforms is also tricky as it would have been good to get the frontage parking area out the front of the station and the loading bay has had to stick out rather than running parallel with the sidings but these are very small things that many would not know about. I have attached a plan which I hope is the final model. I also have just received the final parts to complete Aviemore loco shed. Hope fully things will start to move along with more progress now. Many thanks to good modeller /exhibitor friends who see me long.
  15. Aviemore engine shed is here and I have taken many hours in getting the painting right. I hope this does the layout justice as this and the station are the main features.
  16. Thankyou that was a typo error. Thanks for that those last ones help with the scenic break using the bridge up at position 959 as the break. I may have to use a bit of modellers licence and have another for the boat line a lot of trees as it bends around.
  17. Aviemore signal box now has a correct corrugated roof. More practice is needed in weathering.
  18. Thankyou that has given me more information I didn't know more of the surroundings that I could incorporate in the scenery. I have now got some track plans which are clearer and give better operation. If you by chance have the next section up towards dalfraber that would be great. Thankyou once again.
  19. Thanks Andy maybe I should take on your services to help with rebuilding aviemore lol
  20. Whilst the layout is slowly coming back together I have been concentrating on some of the stock to be used. I have been having a go at this 3D printed railbus from shapeways. I must say doing decals in n gauge is very frustrating especially when you don't get much time and two under gives want your attention. Well only windows, weathering the chassis and getting some aviemore destination boards done.
  21. Little update on what I am trying to achieve. A little bit more painting and trying to replicate corrugated sheet on the roof. As you can see it is not as long as the real thing but I think it will do if not I may still extend it.
