  1. The photos I have of it show the larger windows complete with wiper blades
  2. It's been a while since I last contributed here, so I guess this calls an update! The project was never forgotten about over the last couple of years. A mix of work, developing my NSWGR modelling and other normal "life stuff" meant the loco was pushed to the side and seldom worked on. I have working to have all 8 preserved Castles in model form (6 of which are more or less done and ready to go) meaning it was the right time to get stuck into Pendennis once again. My first attempt at the loco used Tintagel Castle as the base model meaning the valve cover for the inside cylinders was of the incorrect type meaning Caerphilly Castle made a worthy sacrifice to ensure accuracy in this regard. The decals and etched plates are the ones purchased from Fox Transfers all those years ago, although the nameplates are better mounted thanks to the original Hornby brass plate being cut down to let the etched plate sit flush. The buffers on both the loco & tender were painted black and the bufferbeams were detailed as necessary. Something I only learnt recently was that tender at some point carried a sealed twin-beam headlight mounted to the top lamp iron so naturally this made its way onto my model. All in all the project is now at a stage where I'm happy to call it finished, however I still would like the Hammersley Iron decals to go on the loco as without that company the loco would never have made its way to Australia.
  3. How to say you’re not a driver without saying you’re not a driver
  4. no ganging up on Bachmann for bringing out a loco already announced by another company? must be a Hornby thing
  5. Inb4 someone mentions the Kato/PECO double fairlies wait…
  6. A quick touch of solder on the back of the wipers solved the issue on my 32655.
  7. Has there been any news on this project since April?
  8. minimal difference between photos taken in 1984 and from what i saw in person August last year. Typical soapbox keyboard warrior.
  9. And with that, the final lot of pre-orders I had with Hattons have been canned. All were pre-ordered the day they went live on the website. What’s the bet after the models are released they’ll have plenty of stock showing on the website for people to buy...
  10. Some styrene mounted to the sides of the retainers for the wheels might help to reduce lateral movement
  11. The set ended up being £417. I was happy to pay that postage as I knew the set would be quite bulky, and indeed it was, but paying the same price for some brushes wasn’t gonna happen!
  12. I recently purchased a Bachmann Midland Pullman set from Cheltenham Model Centre. I requested that they obtain a quote for postage from DHL as I have found their service of late to be fantastic, with items from England usually arriving within 5-6 days. They came back with a quote of £40 ($75-80AUD depending on exchange rate) and was perfectly happy with this. The money was duly paid and 6 days later a nice new train was in my possession. A few months ago I was looking to buy some Tri-ang parts to keep my supply stock up, my usual go to for this is normally Peter’s Spares, but at the moment they’re charging a flat rate of £39.99 for any order going to Australia no matter you buy, a single pair of carbon brushes for example which weigh next to nothing would cost around $90 landed on my doorstep. I should mention (I guess I have to keep on topic for this thread) that my order for the HST Midlamd Pullman set & Tri-ang conflats was canned by Hattons. Since then other retailers have taken my orders for these items so thankfully all is well there.
  13. Really really sorry to revive such an old thread but do you have any more info on this loco? A manufacturer name or any idea on who made it? I’d love to get one myself if possible
  14. The pricing for the pack with the terrier confuses me. The coaches individually are £29, so three of them totals to £87. Does that mean the Terrier is now a £212 model?
