  1. Thanks Phil, I like the look of that. :-) What colours did you use for the underframe? Steve.
  2. Almost finished my Hunslet shunter, added a wire coupling hook which needs painting to match the underframe and need some cosmetic 3 link couplings and maybe a touch more weathering to complete it. I've got it running as best I can but it's not perfect by a long way. Steve.
  3. Started weathering, I've just given it a light cover of light grey, more drybrushing than painting. I aimed to just get a look of faded paintwork. I'm away next week so wont get any more done for a bit. Next up I will give the underframe some attention and the body a wash of dark and dirty grey. One question, what colour would the platform bits be at the end? Steve.
  4. Thanks Stu. Good luck at Ally Pally, I was thinking of going but I was there last year and I've had a couple of expensive months so I might give it a miss, could well change my mind though! Is this the layout you'll be bringing to Shenfield later in the year? I'll look forward to seeing it. I like the way your layouts are not too era specific, I could imagine seeing a battered blue cravens 105 or a network south east class 121 and a blue class 31 just as well as more modern stock. steve.
  5. Nice explanation and photo Jim, what is the depth of baseboard sides, is there a minimum in order to stop it warping? Steve.
  6. Just found this thread Stu, the layout looks great, has there been any more developments? Steve.
  7. Just been reading this thread, anything GE is right up my street really looking forward to seeing this develop, it all looks great so far, well done NXEA. Steve.
  8. I really like the layout and have thought about doing my version, good luck Johna, I'll be following this with interest. Steve.
  9. Just found this thread, it all looks really good Bob, love the pictures of the Chopper, that brings back loads of memories especially the one with the flat back tyre, seem to remember that a lot! Look forward to seeing your layout grow. Steve.
  10. They all look great, will you add any washes or powders etc? Steve.

    Milton Quay

The quay looks great Lash, like the oil drum, sleeper and bike in the mud. Steve.

    Dock Green

That looks great Chaz, did you mix your paints with any thinners, I'd like to try acrylics I've heard they can dry really fast when weathering? Look forward to seeing some pics of the J6 on the layout. Steve.
  13. Thanks Rob, perfect. I'm nowhere near an expert but I'd put the varnish on first so as to protect the original finish. Steve
  14. Thanks guys, Rob are they all just powder, the close ups look fantastic, did you go over the whole wagon with a glass fibre pen then add the powders? Phil, I've looked at some of your videos and the weathering looks very realistic I'll definitely have a go with a fibreglass pen. Steve.
  15. Thanks for that link John, that's a fantastic site, I'll have a look through that, I'm sure I'll find something. Steve.
  16. Not sure if this will help your running problems but this guy uses circlips to take out a bit of side play in the jackshaft. Something I want to try when I get round to sorting out my class 14. Steve.
  17. I would check a prototype but I'm having trouble locating a decent picture of an unfitted brake van if I'm honest. I've got some pics of what I think are good models to reference but the grey of the Bachmann brake van seems way too dark. Steve.
  18. Great stuff Paul, you've done well with those stripes that looks fantastic. Steve.
  19. Thanks for the picture Brossard, that looks fine to me. Steve.
  20. I want to start weathering this brake van and I'm not sure where to start. I was hoping to fade the paintwork, should I do this before adding any washes to the sides or put the washes on first? I'm also not sure how to fade it, I was going to drybrush a lighter shade of grey over the darker colour. Steve.
  21. Welcome back Jerry, hope you enjoyed your break, I'm looking forward to seeing any more developments. Steve.
  22. Thanks for that Paul. Do you know what other outings you have this year? Hope catch you sometime. Steve.
  23. I'm not sure if it was my privacy settings as I'm not sure what I'm doing with this youtube stuff! Steve. Ok, back to the original question, the bottom video the pug is running backwards and wobbles about like mad, although I doesn't look that bad on a rolling road, and the top video it's running forward and all is ok. Can anybody tell me why that would be and how I could cure it. Thanks for your patience. Steve.
  24. Nice set of photo's Simon, thanks for posting. I hope to see the layout some time. Steve.
  25. Sorry about that, I'm not sure what happened there, I'll look into that. I seem to have got them back now, all I did was click on the 'you tube' logo on the bottom right corner and they played. I'm not sure if that's cured the issue though Steve.
