Ok, thanks. I'm hoping to model 47085 Mammoth in the 80's but need to find a marker light.
-
Good decision to keep those 47's, can I ask about 47 010, where did you get the marker light on the front from or was it on there originally?

Those pics just ooze atmosphere, especially 31 418, the hut, ground cover and lack of boundry fences! Great photo.

Finished one Limpet and started the yellow stripe on the other one. I'll have to carefully try and smooth the line between the colours, I didn't realise it would turn out so pronounced, I'll have to be try and be more careful with the next one!

I remember stinking out DEMU Showcase at Burton in 2006 doing a Limpet plastic bulging demo with a soldering iron, those were the days 😂
I’ve got a Dremel gas powered soldering iron these days and you can get effective results gently applying some heat and teasing out the bottom with various implements, but at the same time there’s a risk if you go too much it’s game over..!
Limpets looking lovely so far Steve, great weathering.
The leaf suspension can be gently chiselled off and replaced with the Bruninghaus spring mouldings or bodged with a scalpel if you’re feeling adventurous!
Thank you James, I remember that showcase and demo, it sowed the seeds for my future wagon weathering!

Didn't these tend to bulge at the base? Looks good so far.
I think they did but I've not seen too many photo's of it. Not sure I could replicate it easily though.

Another couple of washes over the sides of the Limpet, one or two more coats and I'll put the yellow stripe on, and the Yellow stripe painted on another Limpet,
I'm getting there!

Nice photo's Steve, those wagons look great, there's a lot of older stock that will pass muster with a bit of detailing and weathering. I upgraded a few Hornby coal hoppers a while back.

I can state, hand on heart, that this has the best mechanism of any loco I've ever owned. The weight for an 0-6-0 is amazing, and with the gearing as it is even at very low speeds you can see the flywheel smoothing gaps in electricity delivery (I made it creep over insulfrog). For something of this wheelbase and format it's absolutely incredible. (Roco diesels always had amazing mechanisms, but that's easy when you've got bogies, central motors etc - doing it in steam outline 0-6-0 is just incredible).
Agree with that! Mine ran superb straight out of the box! I just need a suitable layout to run it on!

Well if he did he didn't have a look at Top Yard, unless he did when Clive was playing on it! Miserable get!
A great weekend, well done to all involved in the organising. Despite the parking tribulations, all went relatively smoothly. Top Yard is starting to grow on me, and seemed to appeal to a few people, especially the fellah who described the scenery as 'Gravettesque'! I will take that as a complement, though Gordon and Maggie may beg to differ! So onwards and upwards then!
Well done everybody, you've all done very well!
Disgusting of Market Harborough
Glad Top Yard is growing on you, it's a nice little plan, been thinking about how it could be operated, should you extend fiddle yard!
I had too much time on my hands Sunday!

Gave the wagon another coat of a brown wash, it's getting there but gonna take a while.
I'm aiming for this sort of discolouration.

A bit more work done on my wagons. The Limpet on the right has been painted with Citadel Dawnstone and needs one more coat. The other one has had a couple of brown washes, I'm looking to put a filthy patina that nearly obliterates the original livery but using washes alone will take ages! Might have to try something else.
The Brill has had transfers applied, the original yellow box was repainted as I only had white BRILL transfers, coat of Matt varnish next.

Currently half way through “Masters of the Air” on Apple TV+. With headphones on the crump of the flak and the airframe noises scare the crepe out of me and I’m firmly on the ground!
I haven't got Apple TV so cant watch it, which is a shame 🙂 but to anyone watching Masters of the Air I'd recommend this. The sound quality is a bit poor but this guy is a true hero! I had goosebumps listening to this, such an unassuming bloke, yet what a story he has to tell!

The 08 looks great, did you use a gloss varnish to put the decals on?

I've completed the BRILL up to the stage of waiting for transfers, the LIMPETS have had a start made on weathering the insides and the outside of one.

I'm enjoying working on the BDA/BRILL, I've decide to keep one side as a BDA and the other side I will add BRILL transfers, the photo I have shows Railfreight Red livery, re numbered and with a yellow patch with BRILL in black on it.
I've faded the red by applying a filter of Citadel Paints, Squigg Orange and gave the bed a coat of matt varnish.
I'll work remove the paint over the numbers using a cocktail stick.

Did a bit more weathering, drybrush some planks with Vallejo colours this time and a dark grey wash to bring out the planks, the photo I have showed some rust staining on some planks, so I copied that.

Thanks for the link @Daddyman there's some good info on there. I believe the mesh appeared after my modelling era but not sure when exactly.

No, it's an old lima model bought second hand and has had some work done to it. I could always back date it a little to before it had the marker lights. It's still needing detailing and painting so could become any Stratford loco of around the mid 80's. I like your 47 with the 'silver' roof, I was looking at modelling a loco like that.
