  1. Good point. “be careful what you wish for”
  2. Just one more solution.....I make gutter brackets from Peco track pins. A 90 degree bend about 1mm below the top, and cut the head off. Push pin through a hole in wall and glue gutter on top.
  3. At least that long if, as reported above, she needs to have Bachman look at it. Purchased a lot of items from Amanda over the last few years and would rate her among the most honest, straightforward, suppliers I have used.
  4. Also, if you read the distributors copyright such “screen grabs” are technicslly forbidden.
  5. Slightly off-topic here, but the short answer is no. Certainly nothing BRM can do, nor PocketMags, nor even Apple. If you google the issue you will find hundreds of debates about the cause. But best I can see suggest it is something YouTube have changed. Conspiracy theory is that it's deliberate, to drive viewing to their own ad-filled site, which does seem to be the only answer.
  6. I'll be in UK/Yorkshire in a couple of months. So will definitely squeeze in a trip to Rails.
  7. I wouldn't try too hard. There's probably no solution that will work for everyone (due to differing levels of technical competence). Just having the ruler, or better still the two at right-angles 2ManySpams suggested would be great. For me, I don't need anything more. I've just prepared my own plan of the two huts. I took a screen grab (on desktop pc, but any device would do as well); then imported to my favourite drawing app (PaintShopPro for me, but most will do the same). I already have a pre-prepared A4-size image/template with rulers along two sides, plus a small 10mm square for accurate dimension checking. I know that when printed at 100% on my printer it will produce a perfectly sized image. I copy the cropped screen grab as a layer on this template, then adjust it's size against the rulers, both horizontally and vertically (having first converted 7mm dimensions to 4mm, and from imperial to metric). Centre the resulting image, then print and finally check the 10mm block to be certain.
  8. I definitely like the idea of more such plans for buildings. I also think think the scale bar would be a great idea. Especially useful for digital subscribers. Screen grabs from differing devices are likely more size-variable than a photo-copy of a magazine page.
  9. Except that when you get the public involved you end up with stupidity like ”boaty mcboatface”. If rebranding must be done it actually is worth using professionals. But note, I did day ”if”.
  10. Always nice to get the latest model But don't buy hoping it will fix this issue. I just tried it on a 6-week old iPad, running very latest ios, and the problem is the same. Searching the web, it seems "possible" it is something PocketMags, or perhaps whoever creates the digital version if not them can help with. Suggestions it's something in the video embed code that can be changed. But some of the comments I found were a couple of years old, so possibly a different issue altogether. As described above, opening it in YouTube works, but is a faff. I've resorted to simply enlarging the page until the video player almost fits the screen. Fiddly to get right though, and avoid triggering the scroll popup menu at the bottom. Of course, on a desktop, it works OK, and it can be super large. I have also watched it on my large screen TV using a Chromecast device. But watching AndyY larger-than-life is a challenge
  11. No doubt he has. But it will likely be very basic. Just a few boxes where he can type content. A common approach for "managed" sites. Or he might simply send (or phone) text content like that announcement to Sinclair Knight (who designed and host the site) for him to add to the front page. I have done that for clients myself in the past.
  12. As commented on the previous (locked) thread, copyright dates on web sites are usually automatic. No input by the site owner or developer once the code is inserted.
  13. Me too. That's when I switched to PocketMags. They provide the same service for BRM, Hornby Mag, and Model Rail. I have a mixture of subscription and occasional purchases for each. It's extra handy to have them all easy to access in one place, and on phone, tablet or desktop whenever I want them. RM is the only one to avoid. Glad to see Andy has now confirmed. I got in first through the benefit of being 12 hours ahead :-)
  14. Firstly, congratulations to everyone involved in the latest digital edition. Long may your imaginative approach to publishing continue and prosper. Absolutely not! I am very firmly in the older/long retired generation, but still enjoy every scrap of latest technology I can get my hands on! That's been my philosophy for most of my life, and reaching my dotage is no reason to stop now. The differences of opinion expressed on this and similar topics every time any new technology is discussed are attitudinal, not generational. Yes, you would. Also, once downloaded, you can read any issue without internet access. But we are talking about BRM here. It's not always the case. With "RM" for instance, you do lose access to everything you paid for ("rented" in their view) once you stop your subscription. Hence I never buy that one.
  15. Can’t say I've noticed that happening. But I’m always wary of any unexpected changes so check and reset as required before any cut. Perhaps it hsppened and I just routinely adjusted it. Regarding problems cutting round corners, i read a good tip on here sometime ago. Dont use the rectangle tool. Create your rectangle from four separate straight lines. Then they are cut individually, rathet than continuously. For accuracy I might use the recatangle shape first, draw the lines on top to match it, then delete the rectangle.
  16. Yes, found the same problem. Haven't found a solution yet.
  17. And you don’t think people do that with paper copies????
  18. Are you viewing on the ”mobile” version? That's the only place I know they aren't available.
  19. But its none of those, surely. Its Hornby Dublo, isnt it?
  20. Perhaps you could avoid the whole question by using a font that displays O and 0 exactly the same. There are plenty, usually "monospace" ones. It's one of the reasons for some using the "slashed zero", such as used on vehicle number plates (in some countries).
  21. Yes, you are quite right. Obviously, it's a matter of personal preference, what you're used to, and what you want to produce, but I've yet to find any need for anything other than Studio in my cutting.
  22. I would definitely recommend use of the cloud, at the very least as the additional backup you suggest. A relative was burgled recently. They took her PC, and (of course) her spare / backup hard drives!! The same result could happen in case of fire or flood. Standard rule for backups is to always keep a copy "off site". The cloud provides an easy way to do that.
  23. Superficially that is correct, but you can also over-ride the default depth for any chosen material and use your own preferred depth setting.
  24. Yes, I have the Cameo 3 with autoblade and I can confirm that blade depth is entirely set in the software. No manual adjustment of the cutting blade required
  25. I suspect the magazine /publishers know nothing about this sort of insert, nor receive any income from it. It will be down to the distribution company they contract with.
