  1. As your opening sentence does in fact include an upper case J, I’ll have to guess at the problem. Are you expecting it to have a horizontal cross piece at the top. Simple answer in that case is that the font style in use on the site in general is “sans serif” so there are no serifs atop letters or anywhere else.
  2. See alerts at top of page and many various topics discusdions about the site indexing taking a long time. Be patient, they will he there eventually.
  3. I have tried that, unchecked a few boxes but still the same. OK, looking further, as others have said, this is a Firefox issue, not strictly RMWeb (though the latest upgrade may be causing it where the old wasn't). But you will need to fix it in Firefox. RMWeb can't do it for you. This link might help: https://forums.aaca.org/topic/274419-would-you-like-to-receive-notifications/ Can I also encourage you to listen to BlueLightning's advice - keep your web browser as up-to-date to date as possible. Ideally, set it to automatically update. You'll hardly notice it happening, and will benefit enormously from the added security.
  4. Perhaps you need to set notification preferences? Do that by clicking on the “bell” icon at top right of the screen.
  5. Sometimes I really really find myself wanting a “thumbs down” option .........
  6. No list as such. You use the search field at top right of this page. Put his name in as the search item. Then to the right of that click in”Forum index”. Doing that gives you a series of choices. Select “Members”. Now click the search icon and you should find the persons profile page.
  7. That sound just like mine. My wife calls it the shed!!
  8. I’ve never tried, but in theory it should be possible, and not that hard. The only immediate potential problem I can think of is if there is a difference in brick sizes between the two. That might mean door and window openings don’t match brick courses as well as they should. You’ll need to be careful to get a good glue bond for the Scalescenes paper. My preference would be Pritt Stick, with a roller to smooth it well down.
  9. Actually sometimes gloss black on mat can look quite “stylish”. But for better definition how about carefully running round the outside edge of each letter with a silver felt tip pen?
  10. Thats a shame. You’ve missed some really great content. Far better than anything from earlier periods. BRM are really setting a high standard on these.
  11. Shshsh. Hey Hilux, just quietly between you and me, you do know that you should pay about 144 NZ $ on top of that price, on import don’t you... Possibly a touch more if there’s any shipping cost. (I’ve assumed it would be imported as a “toy”) See calculator at https://www.customs.govt.nz/personal/duty-and-gst/whats-my-duty-estimator/ Mind you, probably still considerably less than you’d pay retail in NZ, if / when such models actually arrive here.
  12. Google has a “reverse image search” tool that can help find the source of an image like that. Information on using it is here: https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/1325808?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&oco=2

    Money.

Have you actually tried running Money in Win10? I have been using Money continuously since anout 1999, and am still using it daily, on my Win 10 PC. It works perfectly.
  14. I’ve just noticed that Railway Modeller is at last available as a “normal” digital download through the PocketMags site and app. That means an end to the crazy rental-only payment system that previously existed, whereby you lost access to everything you’d paid for if you ended your subscription. You do still need to retain membership of PocketMags, but that doesn’t cost anything. Thank you Peco (at last)!!! They have back issues to Jan 2014 as well. This means that Railway Modeller, BRM, Hornby Mag, and Model Rail digital editions are now all available on the same platform. Great news for me and others who prefer the digital format. Obviously news that is irrelevant to those not fans of digital magazines. But great that we can all enjoy our own preferences.
  15. Yesterday I had an email in my inbox that demonstrates a particularly nasty side of email scams. As a (retired) IT professional my immediate instinct was to simply delete and ignore it. But then I considered the impact it might have on someone less knowledgeable, less comfortable with the darker side of the WWW, or anyone in a particularly vulnerable mental state at the time it arrived. So instead I am choosing to share the experience here. I hope to provide a little insight into why you can ignore these nasty people, and remind everyone of the simple things you can do to protect yourself. First, here is the (sanitised) text of the email I received. As mentioned above, I know my way around IT, so was actually able to laugh at the stupidity of the things mentioned there. But on a first glance, and without that confidence, think how easily it could scare a vulnerable person into compliance. Here are a few of the giveaways for me: 1 - I know I don't have "dirty screenshots" on my computer. Even if I did visit such places on the internet I would always use the "incognito" tab available in all the latest browsers. That means you don't leave a trail of your activities, screenshots, history, etc. 2 - I know for certain my router does NOT have any such vulnerability. It's a reputable brand, and its software is updated immediately every time updates are available. I do the same with ALL software. 3 - One of the best - my computer does not have a webcam attached that they could use to make "a screenshot of your joys (using the camera of your device)". 4 - Best of all - on the date given for the intrusion, my computer and router (in fact most electrical equipment in my home) were all turned off, disconnected from power and internet. I was on holiday, in a completely different country! 5 - He can't use that email account, despite claiming to have the password. That one is a business account, used to contact clients and users of my own software. Far too important to risk with easily hacked passwords. That one is long, complicated and changed every few weeks. It's actually been changed twice since the claimed intrusion date. I can see from the email's source code he didn't actually "send it from my address", he just faked the address display. In fact, I can see in the source code of the mail he sent it from a Saudi Arabian IP address. So, my recommendations: Before you get an email like this do the things I describe to protect yourself. In particular: Keep all software, operating systems etc up to date. Use strong (i.e. long, complex, meaningless strings of letters, digits characters etc). Change passwords regularly Don't use the same passwords for different websites. I can't tell you that even after doing these you will never have a problem. But knowing you have done all you can might just give you the confidence to feel you can safely ignore scumbag emails like the one above. If you do get such an email. Take a deep breath and think about its content before it gets to you. Check the details. Do they really make sense with what you know about what you have done online recently? To add to your confidence, take a look at the BBC video at this link https://www.bbc.co.u...ending-reporter (supplied by Andy Y). It repeats many of the same things I have said. So don't get stressed. You too can chuckle, ignore it, and hit the delete button, with satisfied glee!!! My biggest disappointment was that he didn't give me an opportunity to reach out and reply to him. I would have liked to meet him (a generic term, as it could be a she), to help with his obvious mental health problems. I'll leave you to think about the sort of "help" I might like to give!!!!
  16. Can’t do the maths - none of us know how much the second 6-month subscription will cost. It might well be 25.99 for all we know, making the annual equivalent 45.98. Sometimes there’s an offer of just 1.99 for a single month. Does that equate to 23.98 for the next 12 months? I don’t think so.
  17. This topic will give you some ideas about “the best” if that is really your target: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/138429-getting-started-with-dcc/&do=findComment&comment=3333086
  18. Do you really mean “best”, or do you mean best on a very low budget? The difference will take you up from around 100 to perhaps 1000 pounds depending on what you actually want to achieve. Perhaps first explain your budget, and your aims, then ask again.
  19. Absolutely not!! I’m an OAP and use / enjoy every piece of latest technology I can get my hands on. (I stopped buying paper books and magazines 10 years ago) I’ve been this way all my life. Luckily my wife is the same. Reading various posts on this forum it is clear there are many, if not more, people decades younger who have a major aversion to any new technology, and refuse to even contemplate benefits. No, its not generational, it is attitudinal. Nothing whatsoever to do with age.
  20. I suppose it might, but then it’s simple enough to print it off the screen, to either paper or a pdf file. On another matter, the competition for a Hornby 67 is not on the magazine website. (https://hornbymagazine.keypublishing.com/competitions/) Any idea when it will be there?

    New Peco Website

Just had a look at this, hoping they might have decided to do the sensible thing and supply a free digital version of the catalogue. But no, the links referred to above actually go to the relevant Apple or Google app stores as stated, but there you need to download the Peco guides app. While doing so, note the message that says it is free but “includes in-app purchases”. Once you have the app you can download the O Gauge guide, the new caralalogue and most of the other published “guides”. But all at prices that look similar to the hard copies. Useful if you want the guides, and I would pay for those if I wanted them, but I don’t pay for advertising catalogues.
  22. Thats an issue I’ve been thinking about for my “peggy”. Not a lot of room in the cab. Has anyone fitted any crew, and if so which models? I’ve been wondering about finding some 1/87 ones perhaps?
  23. I’ve not had any problems on iPad, iPhone, pr desktop A few things I would try: Check your iPad os is up to date. Do a hard reset on the iPad (complete shut down and restart) Delete and reinstall the Pocketmags app.
  24. Wow, thats a well thought out response.........
  25. Is this 99p edition different from the regular digital edition? Only mine definitely only has 251 pages, not 257. Pedantics aside though, I really do enjoy the digital BRM. But I must agree with the previous post. Those repetitive little ads over layout pics are a real turn-off.
