We have been told that the scissors were taken out in 1959, but not whether both up and down were removed at the same time. No other evidence other than anecdotal.

Thanks for your interest, the scissors are interesting but when they were removed they were replaced by single crossovers and not removed completely. Therefore, all movements involving the crossings can then still be done, if not as efficiently as before! (Involving, say, reversing rather than straight running over the crossovers) The vast majority of photo evidence we have, for our intended period, shows just the single crossovers. The signalling for these is much more visually attractive than with the scissors in place as a lot of the signals for those were hidden below the station canopies, so the mood of our group (maybe) is to have the crossovers as single.

This is all part of our problem, even the limited information we have is mostly too late for our period of interest which is from about '58 to '62/3, we seem to be slap in the middle of a lot of rationalisation around that time! We know the through roads were still in existence but when the scissors were removed, together with associated signalling changes is the problem - we may be forced to "take a view".

The most likely source would have been signalbox.org and the like, we have not found any diagrams for the late 50's early 60's (or any other period, actually). Plenty of photos of the box which isn't a problem to build from but we could do with the box diagram, even better a dated one! Would certainly appreciate any help!

Just put the above up again, just in case a knowledgeable RMWebber missed it first time round...

Yeah, but now it's turned the exit road leads to the coaler...

You guys should know better - the Duke's already available, thanks to DJH (many years ago)

As the location has now been positively identified, here are a couple of research questions for all you knowledgeable RMWebbers out there. Firstly, does anyone have any specific dates when the scissors crossovers in the middle of the station were removed? The down line one, it seems, was removed before the up line one and there may have been some time between the two, based on photo evidence. Secondly, I have been unable to find, from the usual sources, a signalbox diagram for Larbert SOUTH box - can anyone help? Thanks in anticipation.

That's the cat out the bag now.....
  11. Is W10 responsible for the loss of Internet connection intermittently, with the message "protocols are missing from this computer"? Requires a reboot of computer and also a reboot of router, but not always!
  12. Looking forward to the pics, Tony. Whether people liked or disliked the prototype, if they were part of the railway scene you are attempting to model, then you should have them on your model!
  13. Here's another couple of anomalies in Windows 10 (I presume), 1. In windows Media Player, brought forward from windows 8 etc., every time I try to rip a cd into my library, it all comes up in Japanese! Never did this before upgrade. It means I have to go through re-finding all the album info again in English! 2. Having two computers upgraded, why do they react differently, as noted before one computer lost the printer info, but the other didn't, and when I shut down one machine I get a second screen showing all options but the other computer just does it! Most odd! Could this be because one machine is Intel based and the other AMD? Weirder and weirder!

If that's the case, then why oh why have they gone completely silent on the OO versions? Are they just trying to stop anyone else doing these models? As far as I know, the drawings etc. were given to them years ago, and now in their latest "update" there is no mention.
  15. Our group is building a new layout and after a most impressive demonstration of Megapoints Controllers at the recent ExpoEM in Manchester, we are seriously considering using these for points and signals .Anyone have any experience of these?
  16. To go back to an old bugbear of yours, Tony, have you looked at the loco lamps being produced by David Franks, see his website, Lanarkshire Models and Supplies. Currently he has the square LMS lamp and a delightful small round LNER example - both to scale!
  17. Having previously said that I didn't seem to have any problems, well.... it has screwed up my HP Photosmart printer software to the extent that a useful program (HP Solution Centre) has malfunctioned and there doesn't seem any way to get it back despite having downloaded the full software suite from HP. Damn.
  18. The J88 is, believe it or not, from the Jidenco Kit! (Don't ask me ever to do another one!) Edited to add the J37 is the NB models Kit.

    It's all gone quiet again..................................
  20. Just finished updating a laptop with W7 and a desktop with W8.1 - both successfully. What I didn't realise and was happy with was that it did not remove Internet Explorer on both and Live Mail on the W7 machine. I had thought that it would have done given it replaced IE with "Edge". So all original programs still available and no data loss or other problems. Seems to be more stable than previous and quicker to load.
  21. Don't get involved with this complete load of nonsense!
  22. I remember going there many years ago when the RBS stood for Roy's Bargain Store! Bought a Hornby Dublo 8F at the time.
  23. Tony, A small suggestion, when you put the rods or the Comet chassis jigs in, instead of looking for squareness with the eye, have you considered using the aluminium mitre box supplied with most razor saws? The unsoldered chassis can sit in this and ensures it is dead level, leaving the eye to ensure the rods are at right angles to the chassis. I have used this method many times. Chas
