    Just done some further research on the subject. The Bachmann model has a 21 pin dcc socket fitted and the tts decoder is 8 pin. Bachmann do a 21 to 8 pin adaptor. My question really is then is there enough room to fit it in and would it work ok.

    Has anyone fitted Hornbys class 47 tts decoder into a Bachmann class 46 ( D188 to be specific). I don't know the number of pins on either I am afraid.

    Hi Jim Could I trouble you for some dimensions? In particular the lamp heads ( if that's what they are called) In 7mm would be ok as I can scale them down. Richard

    I am trying in vain to source some of these LMS pattern lamps and I can assure everyone that they are just not made. So, has anyone scratch built any?

    I have the same problem with an otherwise excellent class24 with howes sound. I will give it a go thanks for the info

    I appreciate what you are saying tractor as some people were saying that the non conductive grease was only part of the problem and poor running may return. My point was that Bachmann have had a look at my model and you never know may have cured it longterm? I think that was commendable bearing in mind that I had owned the model for near on a year and had no proof of purchase.

    Well credit where it's due. Bachmann offered to sort it out even though I had no receipt (from santa). Just got it back and its fine. Well done Bachmann.

    Just acquired a 9f and I like the look of your work a lot! Not having the touch of a brain surgeon like your goodself will however prevent me from trying to copy your efforts. Well done.

    Thanks for the replies. Reading the thread on the subject ( thanks for pointing me in the right direction by the way) It seems that I am not the only one. I have emailed Bachmann to see if they will have a look under warrenty before I take the top off and have a look.

    Can anyone help please. I have a new (1 year old) Bachmann class 40 D211 with sound. From being a really good runner straight out of the box it has started to run very erratically, sound breaking up , jerky running and even stopping. This has been a slow deteriation and the model has not had a lot of time on the rails. I don't want to return it as it is probably out of warrenty anyway. Did I read somewere that there was an initial problem with this model with an easy fix? If so I would be very greatfull for any help.
